The way this book had me so thirsty for more! After reading the first book I was completely invested in Morgan's fate along with Draven and I was not disappointed. There were parts that reminded me of ACOTAR but also... not, in the best way possible. Draven is the *chefs kiss* morally gray man of dreams. Once again, the story line is compelling and character development, stunning.

3 stars — because the worldbuilding was cool, even if Morgan drove me insane.

There’s a lot I liked here: the Camelot-inspired setup, the fresh fae setting, and a romance that finally gets going after a slow burn. The world actually felt different, which I appreciated—especially after binging so much fantasy romance lately that everything starts to blur. This one stood out, at least in that department.

But Morgan? I tried. I really tried. I don’t even mind when a FMC starts off immature—growth arcs can be fun! But she doesn’t grow. She just... tantrums. Constantly. The miscommunication trope is already on thin ice with me, but when everyone and their shadow is handing her the truth on a silver platter and she still acts like she’s been personally betrayed? No. Girl, use your brain. Or at least some common sense.

The MMC is actually solid—he’s consistent, reliable, and somehow still trying, even while she’s accusing him of lying for the 87th time. Like. Be serious. You’d think after everything he’s done, she’d maybe pause and think, “Hey, maybe he’s not the villain here?”

The ending does move the plot forward (thank god), but it felt like we got there by going in emotional circles. I want to know what happens next, I really do, but I also don’t know if I can survive another book of Morgan choosing delusion over reality. We’ll see. I might hate-read it out of sheer curiosity.

This is a little better than the first novel. There is still some graphic images. Nevertheless, I like how the characters have grown. I recommend this for fans of Arthurian legends!

Thank you to NetGalley for approving this e arc.
I very much enjoyed this book as I thought I would. Briar boleyn is an auto read author me and she proved why again in this novel.

twists and turns

I enjoyed this book much more than I enjoyed the first one. I really loved the connection of Morgan and Draven. The spice is nice and not overdone. I really struggle with the Arthurian retelling. I enjoy the new spin on it but the names just keep throwing me off. The creatures were awesome and well described. Overall very good and I’m excited for the 3rd book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Okay... Court of Claws was dark, decadent, and totally addictive. 🖤🐍✨

This sequel amps up everything—the tension, the danger, the chemistry (👀), and the political backstabbing. Liana continues to be THAT queen: clever, fierce, and absolutely done with everyone underestimating her. And don’t even get me started on the claws-out court games and slow-burn spice—it’s chef’s kiss. 🔥💅

The pacing was fast, the stakes felt high, and the world just keeps getting more layered. While I found a few moments a little over the top (in the best way), it totally worked for the dramatic, high-fantasy vibe.

If you love morally gray queens, enemies-to-lovers that sizzle, and plots full of secrets and scheming, you’ll fly through this one. Can’t wait to see how Liana’s story plays out in the next book 👑🗡️

📖 Huge thanks to @netgalley for the ARC!

Epic battle scenes. Relationship advancement and regression. Still has really good pacing and character development. This one gets spicier than book one. Crazy turn of events. Book three here I come!

This is the second book in the Blood of a Fae series by author Briar Boleyn and we get to continue on Morgan's journey. The world is just as fascinating in this installment and I found myself wanting to just enjoy the setting at times and take a break from the action. I really liked Draven in this book, but Morgan felt very immature and annoying.

This book ate—and honestly? I think it slayed harder than Queen of Roses! We pick up right where Book 1 left off, and boom—Morgan wakes up in some mystery location, magically tethered to Draven, aka the walking red flag she cannot stand. And let me tell you, the tension? Delicious.

Every. Single. Thing. About. This. Book. Was. Perfection. The world-building? Immaculate. The pacing? Snappy. The plot? Juicy. The romance? Whew. The spice? Chefs are weeping. The action? Had me on the edge of my seat, thank you very much.

I’m obsessed. Fully, unapologetically obsessed. This series has me in a chokehold, and I’m sprinting into Book 3 like my life depends on it. That cliffhanger? Rude. And Briar? She’s not just writing books, she’s crafting magic. I am so here for every jaw-dropping, heart-clutching, smirk-inducing word

Court of Claws is the second book in Briar Boleyn's Blood of a Fae series. Book 1, Queen of Roses, leaves you on a slight cliffhanger.

This book starts in an entirely new court, the court of the Siabra. The only characters we know/recognize are Morgan and Draven. The world building in this was great, the descriptions of all the new characters/creatures we meet were wonderful. I felt like I was able to get a really good visual of them in my mind. I really enjoyed the portion of this book dedicated to the trials. It was

Morgan on the other hand... kind of annoying in this book. The way she acted towards Draven through most of this book drove me crazy.

As for Draven, no notes. I love him and his morally gray who-did-this-to-you self.

What to expect:
- Morally gray MMC
- Touch her and die
- Deadly Trials
- Enemies to Lovers
- Slow burn
- Forced Proximity
- One bed

Thank you to Briar Boleyn, Starwater Press and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Again, I can’t believe I missed giving feedback on this book. I read it a few months ago and loved the series so much! It still lives rent free in my head!

I am coming back to repent for my errors. I didn’t download this book through NetGalley when I had the chance, and after reading it on my own at a later time I have realized my mistake 🙏🏻

I SHOULD HAVE READ THIS SERIES SOONER.

The characters were fully developed, the plot immediately sucked me in, the writing was engaging, and the overall vibe was perfection. The Exmoors were such a fun touch and made this book a standout of all the fantasy romance books I’ve read. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who is looking for an action-packed romantasy read.

Pick up this book if you like:

⚔️ deadly trials
⚔️ forced proximity
⚔️ court intrigue
⚔️ only one bed
⚔️ found family

Court of Claws is an easy book to recommend and I can’t wait to jump into the next in the series.

**Thank you to Starwater Press for the e-ARC**

In 2019 my health started going down hill and I didn't take into consideration what that would mean for my book reviewing. Sadly, I've been trying to play catch up for years and it's been affecting my ability to keep up with present day tasks. So I greatly apologize for this but I am going to clear out all these older review books and focus on present day. I will come back and update this review if I end up reading the book, which is very possible as a lot of these books are still ones I would like to read, I just don't think the pressure looming over me is helpful. Thank you for giving me a chance to early read these books and I am so sorry I wasn't able to provide what was needed.

A dark romantasy set in the Aurthurian age, Morgan Pendragon finds herself in a new country, a new contient surrounded by fae and apparently now the possessor of the title "Princes Paramour." With enemies every where, the only person she can begrudgingly trust is the one who dragged her there. They must work together to help Draven claim the throne so that she can get back to Camelot to stop her brother Arthurs reign of terror. But not all is as it seems and truths come to light and betrayals around every corner. Can the only person Morgan can truly trust be herself.

Deliciously dark and excitingly fast paced, this sequel kept me on the edge of my seat. I didnt want to put it down! On to the next!

A very interesting read. Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this book. It wasn't really for me, but I am sure that it will be loved by the right audience.

I am addicted to this series - I need to read the next one! I find this series very realistic, as in it's not a happy ever after (so far) and things don't always go to plan. Although I do hope the series ends in a happy way or I will be angry! If you want to read an adventure that keeps you guessing with romance along the way then this is for you!

4⭐️

There's a lot to unpack here. We definitely take a bit of a darker turn.

The author is certainly not afraid to kill off characters, and given this book contains a set of deadly trials and cannibal children, we lose many. I really liked the aspect of us being in the POV that was watching the trials, a nice departure from always being in them.

I'm a sucker for the found family trope, and I think the author did a great job of it in this book. Especially with lyrastra, I loved her character. And beks, of course. I liked the magic system. It's interesting to have a fire wielder that can be harmed by her own flames.

The romance moved a lot faster than I was expecting it to, but that's to be expected when there's only one bed plus fake dating. We have set the characters up for some development going forward as draven is a terrible communicator, and Morgan has many walls up. I'm looking forward to seeing them grow together and strengthen their bond.

The ending almost made me happy cry (IYKYK), and I'm excited to get back to the camelot plot line.

I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

As the second installment in the Blood of a Fae series, this book beautifully expands on the world and characters introduced in the first. Morgan’s journey continues as she navigates the treacherous court of the Siabra, and her growth is both compelling and relatable. The “enemies to lovers” trope plays a significant role, especially in her tumultuous relationship with Draven, filled with passion and conflict.

Boleyn’s writing shines as she delves into themes of loyalty, betrayal, and self-discovery. The richly crafted plot is layered with intrigue, keeping the stakes high and the tension palpable. Each character, including Draven’s sister and the court’s inhabitants, adds depth and complexity, making this a thrilling read. The pacing is well-balanced, ensuring that the twists and turns are both surprising and satisfying. Overall, Court of Claws is an exciting continuation that sets the stage for even more dramatic developments in the series.

This book took me forever to get through. The fmc is not my favorite and I feel like she was way too hot and cold. I’m going to continue the series but it isn’t really a high priority with how let down I am with this book.
