A big thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author Briar Boleyn for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review. This book picks up right where Queen of Roses ended. The book provides more information on Draven and his backstory. The story takes place in his home and he is fighting for his throne. The story explores his attempts to regain his throne so he can return Morgan home with an army. Morgan learns more about her power and her past. Her relationship with Draven continues on a roller coaster with ups and downs. The book’s ending is interesting and sad. It does end on a cliffhanger and the epilogue is insane! I cannot wait for the third book!

Thank you to NetGalley, Starwater Press, and Briar Boleyn for an ARC of the second book in the Blood of A Fae Series!

In this sequel, Morgan finds herself in a dangerous new court where enemies surround her and her only protection is a man she despises. Desperate to return to Camelot, Morgan must learn how to survive the cutthroat Siabra court while honing her magic in the chance that she will be able to escape to return to her own kingdom. As time goes on and Morgan finds friendship and love in the darkest places, the question on her mind is: does she even want to escape?

This was a stunning sequel to the first book, Queen of Roses, and I DEVOURED it in a day! The author does such a fantastic job weaving in mystery, treachery, action, tension, and danger that no portion of this book dragged for me.

Like the first book, I really enjoyed watching Morgan’s journey as she learns more about her heritage and powers. In many ways she was like a child when she left Camelot and had to grow up very fast in a short amount of time so I really felt for her in this book when she was back in a place where she had no control over what happened to her. She has such potential to be an epic independent badass and I can’t wait to read the rest of her journey.

I absolutely love the character of Kairos Draven as he is the legit definition of morally grey. He’s so dark, mysterious, and deadly that I was literally swooning every time he was on page. I admire how much he wants to protect everyone, especially Morgan, and and all the little things he does to ensure that made me absolutely melt. The miscommunication is strong between him and Morgan and normally I’m not a fan of that trope but I get it after knowing more about both of their characters and I’m really looking forward to the point where they can be more open with each other.

I could go on for ages about how much I was loving the side characters in this book but I don’t want to spoil any of them! I will say that they’re so beautiful and complex and I hope to see more of all of them in the next book.

The ending of this book had me REELING. Like MAAM my heart is already weak enough and you throw this at me haha needless to say I will FOR SURE be binging the next book the second it comes out!!

Read if you like:
Enemies to Lovers
Slow burn romance with spice
Forced proximity

Morally Grey MMC
Touch her and die
Powerful FMC

Okay so this book focuses more on Morgan & Kairos Draven's relationship. While I admit that they had good chemistry, the character development just fell flat. While trying to portray Morgan as a defiant female lead, she came off as an immature brat. And if there's anything I hate in a book is the miscommunication trope especially if it is done wrong, which was the case in this one. So it was a little frustrating to continue from that point and I did not feel very connected to the characters. The end was rushed in my opinion but I guess I will read the third book if I'm in the mood to.

Plot: ⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
World-Building: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Character Development: ⭐⭐⭐

To say I was excited for the second installment of Draven and Morgan’s story would be an understatement. The story picked up right where the first ended, adding in a few side-characters right from the start. The author does an amazing job creating an instant like/disklike for some of these new personalities, and then shifts your feelings towards rooting for them above all else. Finally, we see Draven and Morgan’s relationship grow and mature, and it was everything I wanted it to be.
I’m still swooning over it all.
Draven:
He had to make a choice. Risk Morgan dying while he sought out a mediocre healer that’s close by or bring her home to the best healers and risk her life everyday, she stays there. He chose his home, and this sole decision plays a vital part in this entire story. Not only has he brought Morgan to a place where she is a total outsider, but she also finds out that he is the prince of this hidden world. We watch him fight to ascend the throne amongst a world of treachery, stating Morgan as his “lover” in order to keep her safe from those who seek to wreck everything she stands for.
Morgan:
She not only woke up in a strange place, where everyone seems to dislike/trust her, but her powers grow with each passing day. Now, she not only needs to learn how to control her powers, but now lies and reality are starting to blur. Draven has seeped under her skin more than she wants to admit, even though she hates being his “lover”, she’s starting to find that there are some major benefits to it. In this second installment, she gains some faithful new friendships, and even the surprise of old ones.

Overall:
This book was such a good read! It made the long trip to Colorado fly by, I couldn't put it down. The epilogue absolutely sent me, and it has me chomping at the bit for the next book.

Cleverly crafted fae fantasy loosely based Arthurian legends. The second installment expands on the first novel by unfolding in a new realm full of its own dangerous and political turmoil. There’s a lot of emotion to unpackage as Morgan matures into herself. Morgan and Draven begin rocky with a slow burn, semi-fake relationship, forced proximity, and enemies to lover feel.

The powers at play keep the plot interesting as secrets and curses pan out into events. The book’s strengths are within the characters themselves, while the story needs a little more work. There are a lot of themes and layering events that don’t always feel cohesive. For sensitive crowds you should be aware that it includes violence, undead children, and spicy intimacy.

All in all, though it is a solid story with world building and depth that help the fantasy seem real. The author’s work has improved, and I look forward to the next chapter.

The second book surpassed the first, delivering an engaging enemies-to-lovers plot with a delightful slow burn and forced proximity that added depth to the romance. The spice in the story heightened the overall reading experience, making it a captivating and enjoyable read. I highly recommend it to fans of the romantasy genre. I can genuinely say I can’t wait for the next book and this series has become one of my favourites.

I WASN"T PREPARED FOR IT TO BE THIS GOOD

I really enjoyed the first book; however, this one--THIS ONE RIGHT HERE... I found myself holding my breath, gasping in disbelief, and getting goosebumps throughout the trials. There is plenty of deceit, heartbreak, and foreshadowing throughout the book. I loved the playful banter and flirting between the two main characters. It was nice to see the relationship between them become more intimate and burn a little faster than the first book, Queen of Roses. I was a little disappointed Morgan would often lash out and default to "I hate yous" and that Draven withheld so much information from her. Here's to hoping they learn lessons in the next book! Otherwise, I was devouring this story. The writing has definitely improved. It was action-packed, immersive, and paced so so well.

If you love fantasy romances with the single bed trope, slow burn romance, Hunger Games vibes, and spice then I highly recommend. This is my second time reading an unfinished series this year and I was once again reminded why I shouldn't torture myself with them. I NEED the third book and cannot wait for it to be released!

I received this title as an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Briar Boleyn for the opportunity to read this treasure!

“Legends hold truths. Sometimes frightening ones.”

Court of Claws starts right where Queen of Roses left off and introduces us to a new court, species and a whole new host of characters! I loved the expansion or the world and am really enjoying how Briar Boleyn is taking Arthurian legends and twisting them to her own narrative. As far as a loving sister and strong character I really like Morgan as a FMC.

Unfortunately where this loses me is the romance- for such a strong, clever and confident character she seems deliberately and frustratingly obtuse, which made the whole romantic aspect painful. How many times can someone confess their adoration to you before it sinks in? I also wanted more Draven. He had so many fantastic swoon worthy lines (I honestly have so many highlighted) but I sadly felt this chemistry was lacking between the characters. We were being told about their love, but not shown. There seemed to be no growing connection between the love interest which was a bit disappointing.

I am however enjoying where this story is going and will read the next one.

Another great book in the Blood of a Fae series by Briar Boleyn. Honestly, I enjoyed this book even more than I did Queen of Roses. Boleyn's skillful world-building effortlessly immerses readers in a richly layered universe, where mythical creatures, ancient prophecies, and corrupt and cruel kingdoms collide. With its well-crafted characters, intricate plot, and lushly descriptive prose, this book proves to be an unputdownable delight for fans of the fantasy genre.

I would put this Camelot retelling in the same category as Throne of Glass. There’s some level of spice there, but the romantic plot twists are on par with with Sarah J Maas. Draven and Morgan engulf the pages with the romantic tension between them. Even without the twist and turns of their stories, I would keep coming back for more of their romance.

Court of Claws doesn't shy away from exploring complex themes, such as power, loyalty, and sacrifice. The emotional depth of the story adds another layer of resonance to the overall narrative. As secrets unfold and alliances shift, readers will find themselves engrossed in the web of deception and hidden agendas. The plot is skillfully interwoven with twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the very end.

And that ending… all I can say is… I need book 3 like… stat.

A strong sequel to Queen of Roses that I enjoyed even more than the first book. There was way more action and I was so engrossed from the beginning. Draven can literally do no wrong in my eyes, I’m a simp for this man and I have zero qualms about it. There’s court intrigue, deadly trials, magical beasts, and psychic dreams wrapped up nicely in an enemies to lovers, fake relationship, dark fantasy. I find Morgan to be a little unnecessarily prickly to Draven at times, but that may or may not be because I’m forever rooting for him and love his character. The ending was EXPLOSIVE and I just need to sit down and process everything and maybe spin some theories since I’m forced to wait for the third installment of this series. I’m fully invested now and I need Briar’s number ASAP so I can get live updates for the next book.

I hadn't thought, that could be possible, but I liked the second book more than the first!

I love it, how Morgan has to find out, who she is and what her feelings for Draven are. She is on acomplete unknown continent and she doesn't know anything about the society. But she learns very quickly and doesn't do anything, what others want her to.

I NEED book three!!
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Thank you again to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC copy of this e-book.

Book one, Queen of Roses, starts as an Arthurian retelling. Book two takes on a mind of its own in the very best way. I don't want to say too much Give me ALL THE TROPES! Enemies to lovers, one bed, forced proximity, fake relationship, feminine rage, magical competition, morally gray MMC, witty banter! Perfect for fans of ACOTAR, From Blood and Ash, and The Plated Prisoner series!

Queen of Roses has a slower, world building feel to the story but hold onto your hats for this one. I absolutely loved it!

This series just keeps going strong. In novel 2 they end up in a whole different realm which takes this into the epic fantasy arena with how different the world was and the beastly characters within. There are trials in this one and the second trial gripped my heart. Morgen and Draven manage to come together as a couple but they don't stay HEA. I have hope in novel 3 Morgan gets ahold of her issues because it's pretty clear she loves him and is letting a silly bout of pride get in the way. In the end, there is a twist I didn't see coming and I'm still wondering 'WTH?' Deceit and betrayal are weaved throughout this page-turner, and some loyalty I didn't expect. It's a great folklore reshaping I'd recommend any fan of King Arthur lore and monster love.

I ate this up trying to understand where Morgan woke up, and what was happening. So many unexpected twists. (My fave being the little boy who squirrels Morgan away and shares all his secrets with her.) I really liked the setting of this book - such a unique place! Very different from Book One, but still cool. I read Book One so fast, some details went on the wayside, so I was glad when Morgan’s thoughts kept returning home. Morgan’s vivid dreams were some of my favorite moments. They continue to drive me crazy, wondering what they could mean.

I liked that we saw more sides to Draven, and from different perspectives. However, Morgan feels much more reactive and implausible in Book Two. Perhaps as a fellow person I could excuse her personality change/trends as a product of her recent traumas, but as a reader, her persistent overreactions took away some of my respect for her. I loved the love-hate relationship going on between Morgan and Draven, but I don’t totally understand where all Morgan’s hate is coming from. I want to be more convinced she’s still worth rooting for. That cliffhanger definitely did a lot to catch my interest for Book Three!!

THANK YOU Briar Boleyn, Starwater Press, Netgalley! You guys have let me read for you again, and I’m so grateful. I will keep going back to you guys :’)

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The second story in the "Blood of a Fae" series has phenomenal world building. The story starts unpacking the world building that was missing in the first story. Having two different breeds of fae each with their own darkness and secrets was masterfully done by Boleyn.

The Camelot retelling was a fun concept in the first story with gender bending of a few characters. But in this story the Camelot plot line takes a backseat as the focus is on fae power struggles.

The power struggle is gruesome with the brutal competition for the crown. The trials in this competition were wild with competitors turning on each other and eliminating the competition forever. Imagine Hunger Games with competitors that have hands that turn into snakes, others that spit venom, or claws coming out of their hands. Also, magical creatures as enemies that read your mind and demand the thing you love most as sacrifice. The trials were a huge push into the high review of this story.

The only drawback that prevented a five star was the female lead. She did a character shift from the first story. In this story she was immature and constantly angry at our male lead. And by immature I am describing temper tantrums screaming how she hates the male lead. The male lead had secrets, but he sacrificed himself for her well-being.

I honestly believe this author has so much potential with great world building, and a dynamic plot.

I am eagerly waiting for the third book as Boleyn has left us on a cliff hanger with this one!

I really enjoyed book 1, but this one was missing something for me.

I loved learning more about the world and the characters, but I didn't really like the constant love/hate war Morgan constantly fought towards Draven. I also wish there had been more scenes of Morgan learning about her powers.

The cliffhanger at the end doesn't bother me, I actually expected one.

3.5 stars

After the first book, I needed answers, and I finally got them! This book contained a number of tropes that I enjoy in all of my fantasy novels.
We got to see more of the world, meet new beings, and watch our FMC and MMC grow into their personalities.

If I could change one thing about the book, it would be the length. For a few moments, it felt a little too long and tedious.

Still, I can't wait for the next book, especially given how this one ended.

Rated 4.5⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley, Briar Boleyn and Starwater Press for this free E-book. This review is 100% my own opinion.

If you loved the 1st one then you're going to love the second one. I couldn't read this fast enough. The slow burn steamy read from the 1st book turned into a spicy read.

Loved the way that they slowly appeared to fall in love, but I was disappointed the reason and it wasn't 100% natural in the beginning. I'm not a huge fan of "I hate ....", strong word for me.

This book leaves you wanting more. I can't wait until the 3rd book comes out. The way it ends with an unexpected character popping back up.... ohhhh ..... give me more.

Gave off spicy adult hunger games vibe!

Loved this e-book series so much I'm actually going to order this series off Amazon.

Even better then the first one. Morgan really comes into her person in this book, her character grow is amazing.
All the plot twists, shocking revelations and steamy bits kept me entranced. I could not put this book down.
I'm now *unaliving* waiting for the third book. Definitely a fav author of mine now.
