I found this a little slow to start but there were plenty of twists and turns to keepme guessing the whole time. I really enjoyed this story

This was an intriguing one! I didn’t put the pieces together until right at the very end so the mystery was strong all the way through!

Erin and Will begin to experience problems within their marriage. It starts when Will attempts to put a necklace on Erin, and she flinches, suddenly feeling unsafe in Will’s presence but she has no idea why. Then their dog Coco goes missing, and Erin becomes convinced that Will has done something sinister. Erin suddenly becomes suspicious of Will and there are a lot of things that don’t add up.

This is where Maggie, a relationship therapist, comes in. The couple perplex Maggie until one day, something that Erin says sparks something in Maggie. For Erin has described the exact necklace that was never found after her sister’s murder, and she’s saying that she found it in the footwell of Will’s car.

As Maggie, unethically, tries to get to the bottom of things, lives unravel and past traumas come hurtling through. As readers, we know that in the present day, Erin has been a victim of a hit and run. So who is responsible? And how is it connected to what has been going on?

Unreliable characters, past and present chapters from multiple characters that help you to build up a view of what has been going on and develop theories…it was really, really tense and packed full of suspense. I felt myself holding my breath at times! I found the plot to be really engaging and interesting. I was invested right from the very start and found it easy to race through. A great, twisty psychological thriller!

Another brilliant read by this author. Fast paced and so well written i would highly recommend this book.

Another brilliant read from Heidi Perks. This had me gripped from the beginning. There was enough twists and turns to keep the page turning. Loved the characters and how the storyline unfolded. Definitely worth the 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this. Written in short chapters over multiple timelines and different pov. Kept me guessing all the way and the twist at the end was unexpected.

This domestic thriller is told from multiple pov with interwoven stories, Maggie the therapist who hasn't come to terms with the untimely death of her sister many years ago and the couple who go to see her for couple counselling but felt like a who is telling the truth situation. I especially liked the way the stories are fused together and the ending really blew my mind. it felt like a film in places where the plot went ott and became a bit predictable. It was engaging throughout could have benefit from a male pov in places. It was hard to put it down as there was also 2 timelines before the accident and after the accident and the skillful multiple switch to and from, gave this real depth. Helped also by the same thing for therapist. There were plenty of red herrings which i was victim to a few. This is a highly recommended 4 star read perfect for domestic thriller fans but be warned its very hard to see the wood from the trees. Thanks netgallery,, publisher and author

The Last Resort by Heidi Perks offers a gripping mystery, but the characters—particularly the main ones—nearly ruined the experience for me.

From the start, Erin & Will were hard to sympathize with and often insufferable, leaving me more frustrated than engaged. Their decisions and interactions kept me on the edge of irritation, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the story.

That being said, the mystery itself was solid, and the twist at the end definitely delivered—unpredictable and satisfying. It was just unfortunate that the characters’ behavior made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. Still, if you’re a fan of thrilling twists, this one’s worth a read.

I loved this book it was such a great read. Things the first from this author and I’ll be reading more in future.

Really enjoyed this from start to finish. Didn't want it to end. Will definitely read more of this author in the future.

There are so many coils and twists hidden in this story about Erin and Will who go to couples therapy to fix a blip in their marriage.

This is an interesting enough premise as the therapist Maggie has no idea which of them to believe but the author takes it to another level, and then another as Erin is involved in a hit and run which we have to assume wasn't just a random accident.

The book has so many strands to pull together by the end and it takes the reader down many dark alleys along the way.

Having read previous books by this author I knew I would be in for a good read and I was not disappointed. However , for me, it was not one of her best. It was an enjoyable read with lots of twists and turns along the way with a very unexpected ending. However the flashbacks didnt keep me engaged and the couple’s therapy and Maggie’s way of getting to the source of the issues didn’t hold my attention. Think I am more of a realist. Many thanks to Netgalley and publisher for giving me the chance to read this book.

The author skillfully builds suspense, dropping hints and revealing secrets gradually, keeping me on the edge of my seat until the very end. While the synopsis hinted at a straightforward thriller, I was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected twists and the exploration of psychological trauma.
At times I felt that the pacing was uneven, but I was captivated by the intricate plotting and the way the characters' pasts intertwined to create a gripping and emotional read. "The Last Resort" is a testament to Heidi Perks' talent for crafting suspenseful mysteries with characters that stay with you long after you finish the book.

Erin and Will seem to be the perfect couple. Happily married, beautiful daughter, lovely home, seemingly the perfect match. When the family dog Coco goes missing it seems to trigger a memory in Erin that derails everything. After weeks of drifting further apart and accusations from Erin they decide to go to couples therapy.
Maggie doesn't seem to be able to work out who is lying between the couple and when Erin mentions more memories it seems Maggie is only helping due to her own agenda. Then Erin is brought into hospital after a serious hit and run which leaves her life in the balance. Soon the secrets of the past begin to emerge but just who is lying and who will survive?

I did enjoy this book and found the twists really good but I sometimes felt it was dragging and repetitive hence the 4 stars although I would still recommend it.

I didn't know if Erin was really mentally unstable or her husband, Will, was making her feel the way she did. I liked how the author built up the suspense, she gave little hints along the way, but never enough to fully solve the mystery. Through the different points of view I was kept engaged and it kept me racing to end to get my answers. Overall, this was a well written thriller and one of the best I've read to date by Heidi Perks. Bizarre book and bizarre plot. It’s a very strange book, and I don’t actually know if the psychology of the book is correct or not but everything is off in this book. I think the one thing annoyed about is this constant unknown that is displayed in front of us but never addressed, and then neatly revealed. I know it’s found in every book but right from the start is where we are dangled with it and it just gets super repetitive.
