This is such a lovely wildlife-filled adventure story for children!

The little people of Whispering Woods live in secret, only emerging when the Ruffins (humans) are tucked up in bed.

While the Ruffins sleep, the Keepers take care of the environment that has been damaged by the big, stomping Ruffins - rewilding the land, and helping any creatures in distress.

With a good helping of nature, magic, friendship & a whole lot of rewilding, this is a wonderfully gripping story for nature loving little ones.

Thank you to NetGalley & Piccadilly Press for the DRC!

With autumn hovering on the horizon and the summer weather turning wet, book four in the Woodland Magic series felt like a hug in a mug. With tons of educational content regarding nature, wildlife and the environment, this charming story is probably the most heart-thumping and action-packed yet. Cora and Jax are now fully-fledged Keepers but when they find an owl tangled up in wire, their skills and wits are put firmly to the test. To predatory owls, Keepers would make a scrummy meal. Can Cora and Jax try and find a way to help the creature without becoming dinner? Each book in this series follows a cosy, familiar and comforting format and yet every story feels fresh. As Cora, Jax and their friends Trix and Nis grow in experience, the scenarios they encounter become more thrilling and dramatic. The owl is the first animal the Keepers help who is a direct predator. And, with the presence of Ruffins always lurking in the background, the stakes are high!

Aside from the drama, the world-building and setting is charm personified. There's gorgeous, tummy-rumbling descriptions of food and lots of lovely craft and community activities for the Keepers to become involved with. The theme of teamwork is strong and we particularly loved the emphasis in this book that everyone has different skills to offer. As a result, the characters all feel unique and there's a lovely subplot in Operation Owl where Cora attempts to understand her the motivations of her nemesis more.

Once again, this is perfect for young eco-warriors, nature-lovers and those who love fairy-type stories. The stories are perfectly-formed packages with so much to offer. We absolutely love them!

This is the 4th book in the series about the Woodland Magic people. This one was all about owls. I particularly liked the extra information and mini game at the back of the book, great to make this information available and teaches the child more things about owls.

Cora and Jax are new keepers and on there daily outings to the Big Outside they come across an owl who is tackling in a fishing line. They try to help and get into some trouble.

This is a lovely illustrated book for younger children, easy chapters and the pictures keeps the child’s mind active. A great book for any child’s bookshelf.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

Cora and Jax are on their first assignment as fully-qualified Keepers, members of a secret community of little people who live in the Whispering Woods and try to undo some of the damage that humans (aka Ruffins) are doing to their surroundings on a day to day basis.

After venturing into the Big Outside, they find a barn owl tangled up in an old fishing line. But when Jax climbs on to the owl's back in an attempt to undo the line, the bird unexpectedly takes off - with him as an unwilling passenger! Meanwhile, a despairing Cora is left wondering what to do...

This beautifully illustrated story takes children on an excited adventure whilst teaching them valuable lessons about a respect for nature, animals and birds, the importance of kindness and the need for environmental conservation.
