I really don't like leaving negative reviews, but I try to be fair and honest. So here we are. This book is part of an older series that the author apparently is rereleasing with added "steam," which could account for why the intimate scenes felt pasted in. I ended up skimming them. For me, I didn't feel any real connection to either main character. Sloane is nice enough, a supposed free spirit who travels the world for inspiration for the romance novels she writes. She's only in Pine Mountain temporarily, mostly to make some cash for traveling and to stand up as maid of honor for her BFF.
Sloane ends up as a babysitter for hero Gavin, an uptight (not really the grumpy we're promised) restaurant manager who's recently gained custody of his 13-year-old sister, Bree. The label "babysitter" grates not only on teenaged Bree, but on the reader as well. In spite of acknowledging that Bree is well past the age of needing a sitter, the label persists, and it feels gross.
The whole free-spirit-connects-with-surly-teen trope isn't new, nor is the overwhelmed-older-brother-with-no-clue-about-teen-girls one, but it's not executed particularly well here. Or at least not interestingly so. Yes, you feel for both Gavin and Bree, but you don't necessarily feel the confused and bittersweet love that surely is between them.
I also felt the big miscommunication does not resolve logically. I don't want to spoil the ending, but I think the wrong person apologized.
The book is well written though; the author knows how to write. I've enjoyed more recent books by the same author. I think this one maybe should have just stayed in 2014.
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Wow!! I was completely captivated from the beginning and couldn't put the book down and was sad I had to say goodbye to my book friends when I got to the end. The author kept me on the edge of my seat through the twists and turns, ups and downs and incredible romance.

I've been reading a long time now and I only used to read romance novels, well the past year maybe two? I can only read mystery thrillers! Almost all romance books are like omg roll my eyes same wham bam thank you mam lol type thing! Now this author is one of my one clicks! She did not let me down! The storyline of this book was so very interesting and had me glued to my Kindle! It did have romance but it wasn't all in your face! It was really hot hot hot of course lol I highly recommend reading this book! It was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! Big thank you to Kimberly Kincaid for your amazing words! Can't wait for more!

I love Sloane's writing habits. But it doesn't matter how good they might be. If you don't want to write a book, it's not getting done.
Gavin is put into a tight spot and is fortunate that Sloane is able to help him out. Desperate times and all that. The connection that they have in the beginning makes me wonder if it would go anywhere. I think how well his sister gets along with Sloane goes a long way in making him see her in a different way. Maybe because it wasn't instant attraction is why I loved this book.

4.5 ⭐ This slow burn between a grumpy restaurant owner and a perky but desperate romance writer who needs to kick her writer's block is a wonderful romp. Alternately hilarious and heartwarming, the story moves quickly even as the heat ratchets hotter and hotter with these two!
Gavin is struggling to keep up with his job and his new responsibilities of taking care of his 13 year old sister after his mom dies, and ends up hiring romance writer Sloane, through the recommendation of a mutual friend, for a few weeks until the agency can send him a new nanny. Sloane takes the job because she needs the money.
I adored Sloane and Gavin and watching their relationship blossom. His grumpy, serious character and her fun and spontaneity go together like oil and water at first, but they quickly start to work together because his little sister Bree needs them. The romance between the two is hot and steamy in this new, updated edition.
I love how Bree, the sister, is such a big part of this story. The other secondary characters in this book are really well developed, and I love the secondary relationships in this books as well. Very well written, well developed characters, wonderful story. This was pure delight to read!
[Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!]

So this is the fourth book in the series and i have yet to read the other three.
I enjoyed this book and i loved the two lead characters they were fun and well written .
This book is full of romance and cross wires full of emotion were i did share a Tear from time to time especially with the younger sister talking about the loss of her mum it did bring so many memories.
There is plenty heartfelt moments and passion in and out of the sheets
I do not feel you have to read these books in order to lose any of the history or story.
I will go back and read the others and if there will be any more of the series in the pipeline then i will forward to those too.
Thank you Netgalley for a copy for an honest review
