I have only read one other series by Lisa Renee Jones and it had me on the edge of my seat, so of course I had to try this one! I’m sad that I’ve found this so soon before any more in the series is released because now I need to know what happens! It was a quick read, which I liked and didn’t like. I only didn’t like it because I would have liked more, but then again there’s more in the series so that makes sense she wouldn’t over load one book.

Damion and Alana seem like the ultimate power couple and I loved his possessiveness over his life long friend. Lisa did such a great job of keeping you hooked on what was going to happen next and I did NOT expect that ending.

I will be keeping my eyes glued to her pages in anticipation for the next!

Dami0n and Alana have a history and she doesn't want to forgive him. Lots of chemistry between the two and an intriguing storyline. A good book and an Apt title.

Damion and Alana's story is intense and super angsty and I really enjoyed it. I've never read anything by Lisa Renee Jones before, but I have to say that I really enjoyed this one and will most definitely be adding more of her books to my TBR!!

This is one of those quick reads that you would take on your vacation or for a relaxing weekend. It was of course adult themed as the book should be, but there was not too much to overpower the theme of the book. I could still understand what was happening in the story. I think I would have to say once is enough for me I am moving on to my next book.

Well enough developed storyline to keep you wanting to read it to the end, only to find out that the story is not finished.

Old childhood friends meet up again and what used to be innocent, no longer is. It's about control and power, and hidden agendas, and chemistry which is off the charts.

Quick read and decently developed characters. The story starts very slow with lots of introductions but once we were over the build up, it flowed rather well.

This book is a steamy and loving story! I think Lisa Jones does an amazing job of giving us everything we could ever need. There is an amazing story line, which you often don't get with sexy books like this. She does an amazing job of giving just enough information and not over doing it with details for the story. I think she does a really amazing job, and I would recommend this to everyone but my mother because I do not want to know she read this!

Quick and spicy read that hits all of the right spots if that is what you are looking for.

If you want a well developed storyline with likable characters-this isn't for you. If you want a quick read with spice and enough of a storyline to keep things moving-I highly recommend Protege King.

Alana and Damion have an interwoven past but can they move toward a future together?

With a bit more development and a full length book Protege King had a lot of potential for me. The cliff hanger at the end had me feeling like everything fell a bit flat unfortunately.

I really enjoyed this short spicy read, it was easy to read and I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters and the chemistry between them. Just a shame it ended so soon. Look forward to the next one in the series.

Enjoyable, quick read. Damion and Alana grew up next door to each other. They have always loved each other and this book takes us through their relationship from when they were young to now they are adults. Damion is on the board of an investment firm and Alana works for a real estate firm and stars in a TV Series. Both are dealing with their parents while navigating their hot sex life.

This is the start of a series and I’m already looking forward to the next book.

FYI - There are a few spelling errors not picked up (eg page 55 should be “leaves” my belly button).

I liked this spicy story a lot! I do wish it was a little longer because some of the backstory and drama felt glossed over and I’d love to know more details of what happened with Damion and Alana’s families - but there is a book two coming out and I’m hoping more will be revealed in that one!

I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I was expecting a flaky, rushed romance with no depth but Protoge King is not that at all.

Our characters have a deep, established connection that is crucial to the tale itself. It is privilege and power at its best.

I loved this book and I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I was hooked from the very first page and loved the chemistry and attraction that these two had and the banter between them was really amazing. I loved watching there relationship grow while reading this book.

The book was a fresh take on a few of my favorite tropes. The story was fun to read and easy to follow begging me to not put it down. The main characters are well written and intriguing in their backgrounds. having the TV show aspect was an unexpected twist that was fun to be immersed in.

Quick read, I think I would have preferred to have kept reading after only 160 pages than it stop and start a new book. The childhood friend relationship gave it a lot of dynamics that were interesting to navigate. The girl character frustrated me, I definitely wouldn’t be her friend, but made for a good character. Good flow, good plot (just stopped short for the time being) & intense intimate scenes.

I loved this!! I stayed up way past my bed time to finish this. This was so good! I absolutely adored Damon West!

I enjoyed this story very much. It was intriguing and quite entertaining. The only reason that I give it a 4 star it’s because it’s a cliffhanger. Either I missed it or it wasn’t promoted as such.

I received "Protege King" by Lisa Renee Jones for free in exchange for an honest review. I quite enjoyed the story overall. The attraction between the main characters is hot. The only thing that I did not like was that it was a cliff hanger. I suspected that it would be, but I'm always sad to see when a book actually is-- especially when the next book is not available yet! If it where, then that would be a different story!
Now I have to wait to read the conclusion of the story!
