I loved this book. The impossibility of this ever really occurring is what makes the book that much sweeter. The characters are great, and their emotional journeys are just as far as their flight across the Atlantic. In such a short period of time they gain so much. Although most of the journey seems unlikely their circumstances are incredibly relatable and powerful. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a book that can truly make you smile.

I wanted to reread this book so when I saw the audiobook up for request, I jumped at the chance. I feel like a lot has changed since my first read. I wasn't so swept up in the humour and the comfort of it. I still think it's written in a very light-hearted style but man this one plays with your emotions.

I liked the narrator a lot, she had a good voice for the character and her terrible accents for the English characters didn't grate on me as much as I thought they would at the start. I don't have much to say about her beyond that, but I would definitely read another book narrated by her.

One thing I did pick up on, which while being a bit of a mistake, I find really funny is the times in the book. At the start of each chapter the time is said in each time zone that the book takes place in, but while it's summer in the book and therefore the British time should be in BST, it's not, it's written in GMT.

I maintain my comment from the earlier review that this book would be absolutely perfect for a plane ride.

I feel like this was a bit of a cliché book. Meeting someone on a plane then falling in love with them is kind of hard to believe but I did like the interaction between both Oliver and Hadley.
I felt like some parts were unnecessary but it did build up and make the story flow.
I did find it hard to connect with Hadley and see her point of view.
However, overall it is a light read and good to meet your reading targets.

Simply lovely. This YA has it all - great characters, believable plot arcs, realistic growth and change of the characters and that feel of "yes. they are great together!".
Hadley and Oliver have spent just a couple of hours together, yet they click and work together well. I am very much rooting for them!
Also, the second plot - Hadley´s relationship with her father (who is remarrying now after leaving their family for a new woman) and the bumpy road to mend and to forgive is very impressive! The authoress is very realistic here - yet the taking of the high road is believable and commendable here. I left the pages as a better person (at least for a while :)).

I didn't finish this book. The synopsis I thought was great.
I had this on Audiobook and for me the narrator just ruined it. She was reading so fast, it lacked any understanding of what she was reading and where there should have been a pause when someone was using 'speech', she was late slowing down.

This was a reread for me, having read the book physically in 2017. I didn't remember it, and unfortunately I think it's because this story just isn't memorable. It's enjoyable and the sort of book I like for holidays or just to escape in, but it just lacks something for me to want to recommend it to anyone

This book has been on my radar for yearssss, yearssss. And as soon I saw this, I had no excuse but to read and boy was it so cuteeeee. I can’t wait for the adaptation to come out now.

Hadley missed her original flight only to meet Oliver on the next flight she booked. What followed was a sweet romance between these two that I wish had more to offer. Aside from the flight and another encounter in London, there wasn't much to their love story. I wanted more.

Hadley was also on her way to her father's wedding to another woman after he divorced her mother a few years before. There was a lot of resentment she held towards him and she got over it a little bit too quickly.

This was an easy read though. I liked some aspects of it, and the audiobook was okay. Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ALC. Releases September 7.

I was drawn to this book when I saw there was a Netflix movie planned and it seemed to have "Sliding Doors" vibes, with that missed flight.

Sadly, it didn't deliver at all. The storyline was bland and it was honestly like wading through treacle, waiting for the predictable romance between a whiny and petulant teenaged American girl and a too-perfect British boy to play out.

Hadley is travelling to attend the wedding of her adulterer father, to a newer, younger model, Charlotte. None of the characters really had any substance to them and nobody stood up to Hadley's constant "it's all about me" behaviour.

The redeeming part was that it was thankfully short.

Hadley and Oliver meet just before a flight. But the chances of them meeting were slim until Hadley missed her original flight which led to an argument with a lady who wouldn't watch her luggage. And so unfolds a largely accidental meeting between two people, which sparks into a budding romance.

I absolutely loved the idea of a chance encounter happening purely because of a bunch of events which, had they happened any other way, would have prevented that meeting. It's a cute concept. And this was initially what pulled me in - the domino effect always keeps me hooked.

Equally Hadley and Oliver are nice characters, with humorous banter and unique histories which led them to be on that very plane together. I like the way this all eventually plays out and comes together. It's great to read a story about two very ordinary people, doing ordinary things without some far fetched love story attached to it.

However, I found the story a little bit flat because of this; the balance wasn't quite right. The story plateaued early on and had a very predictable trajectory. Equally Hadley has an estranged relationship from her father, which she largely puts aside very easily without any complications; this seemed a little far fetched to me and a more complex character development would have been better to read about. There were a lot of loose ends in that dynamic which left me a little disappointed.

So overall, a fairly predictable love story which is easy to read and has a few giggles in it, but it didn't sweep me off my feet.

This was a light, fun audiobook set across 24 hours as our main character flies to London for her father's wedding. For young teenagers this would be ideal.

The narrator was OK, although a little robotic in places.

It took me a while to get into the audio version on account of the jarring British accents and the repetitive nature of Hadley's thoughts. Once the pace picked up I really enjoyed it though. A sweet story for younger teens.

It's a risky bet to write a young adult romance that takes place over barely 24 hours, but listen overall it works. I enjoyed my reading, I found it cute, quite moving. I really liked the evolution of the relationship between Hadley and his father. However, I have the impression that I have missed some revelations that were mentioned before, and I am not unsure about the possibility that they simply did not take place, so I am a little troubled.

Small downside about the characters, I didn't get attached to Oliver at all, not much to Hadley, and I didn't find much alchemy between the two of them... which is a bit of a shame for a romance anyway. I am initially not a fan of fast romances, I much prefer slow burn, but even if it means doing it in 24 hours I might as well go there thoroughly and there in terms of emotions it remained a little flat for me.

Honestly, this is the kind of teenage romance I suspect I’m too old too appreciate. I didn’t love any of the characters, I didn’t think their connection was palpable, I thought the set up was a bit tired and I just wanted more than the “my dad doesn’t love my mum anymore” angst. Overall, it just didn’t quite click for me.

That said, for people who do enjoy unlikely meet-cute romances with a side order of teen angst and transatlantic travel, I can see this being a hit for them.

I listened to this as an audio book, beautifully read by Casey Holloway - who has an American accent but was able to switch to English very well as appropriate. I have never read/heard anything by this author before, and really enjoyed it.

The whole book takes place over 24 hours when Hadley , an American, misses her flight to London to see her father get married to an English lady he has met whilst working abroad - breaking up his American family. Hadley is somewhat relieved as she really didn't want to go to the wedding, but she gets booked on a later flight which will just get her to the church on time. The flight is improved vastly as she meets Oliver, an English boy, who has his own reasons for travelling to London.

As the book title suggests, it is about Love at first Sight, but so much more - it's about family dynamics, being honest, and second chances. A lovely story which would appeal to all ages.

This is a very light and easy quick read or in my case listen as I had the audiobook. I didn't overly love the narator so it didnt help me fall in love but this story defintely felt very YOUNG adult fiction and was too immature for my tastes but it was cute and innocent in their love. Our main female lead, Hadley annoyed me in her self centered life is all about me and a little spoilt and bratty and so I couldn't get on board with the main male character, Oliver, who came across as much more mature being interested.
I found it painful to listen to this at times because Oliver's english accent wasn't always on point and then add in Hadley's whiny voice and attitude and I was very grateful this was a short story. Definitely aimed at younger audiences but also seems a little dated.

This was so cute!
In the span of just 24 hours, two 18 year olds finding love at first sight on a plane!
It was absolutely wonderful and would make a very good movie adaptation.

Also, the narrator's soothing voice carried the whole book!

Pretty short, YA book. Boy and girl meet at the airport due to the girl missing her original flight. He's British, she's American. They're both travelling to London for weddings, but then what???

A nice story. Tries to incorporate mental health elements, but I'm not sure it's done very well.

I listened to the audiobook version of this and it was certainly an easy listen.

Hadley is reluctantly travelling to London to take part in her father’s wedding. Oliver is also heading to London. Accidentally thrown together they might be just what each other needs to get them through the next 24 hours.

This is very, very light; not much plot but lots of angst. Narrator is right for the material and perfect beach listen.
