Perfect for the spooky season. You can’t beat a good story for the seasons! I really enjoyed this and will be tracking down a hard copy for my classroom.

A quick easy and spine chilling read that was perfect for the age group. I couldn't put it down and each story was just as good as the last.
I loved it

Thank you so much to Hachette Children’s/ Orchard Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Six short stories of spinechilling events as they happen to young tweens. A possessed pair of shoes, phone calls transmitted in your mind, a demon baby sitter and more spooky stories.

I struggled, I honestly struggled I couldn’t personally find anything scary and i was bored. These were not spinechilling stories at all to me. They were predictable and I knew exactly what was going on and how they would end. I also didn’t find I connected to the characters in anyway either, so it didn’t make me care what happened to them, again such a shame as I love connecting to the characters. I’m so sad as I was really looking forward to this book and being given the creeps but I didn’t get that.

Now this isn’t to to say that a younger reader wouldn’t enjoy them as they probably would, they’d be interested in the spooky goings on with the characters. The storylines were unique in that what was going on with them was different to what you’d normally get, the stories may very well come across spooky to a younger audience so I do feel that these six spooky stories would be received well by children.

I’m so sad with this story as I was really excited to be given the creeps but it failed to do so honestly. I kept hoping one of the stories would be really eerie or creepy but to me they weren’t. It was written well for telling a story, it was a very creative idea and I liked where the story was going and having multiple stories in one, it was really a great idea. I just wish it could have upped the scariness a lot more.

In six short stories various tweens encounter and succumb to evil forces.
You can see the ending coming in all of these stories but that doesn't make them any less horrifying! Truly creepy stories in the vein of Lovecraft and Dahl, not for kids that shy away from character deaths and gruesome outcomes! Great writing for fans of the genre but note that the cover is deceptively young for the appropriate age group (10+ minimum) and may result in being picked up by the wrong readership
