This is a lovely book about differences being OK and how those differences make us who we are. If we use the differences, we can acomplish a lot. Friendship is a big theme in this book and would be perfect to share with a class of children.

A heartwarming story about a robot discovering life and nature. An engaging, fun way to inspire children to appreciate nature and its diversity. The accompanying illustrations are gorgeously humorous and an important addition to the story. I have already been told by a few customers that this series is one of their favourites and I will continue to recommend it! My only criticism is the pacing was slightly too fast for me but I think this would be a positive for younger, more reluctant readers as it makes for a quick paced story.

Brilliant book, so well written and engaging.
I think this is perfect for a Y3 or Y4 class read, too, although the children i work with have devoured the series.

This is a truly delightful book. The perfect book for snuggling up with your children or letting them read past their bedtime.

It's a story about belonging and finding your place in the world and there is a reason this book is everywhere. It really is becoming a modern day classic and for good reason. The language is rich and the chapters are short which means it is also a good book for more reluctant readers.

A sign of a good children's book is one both adults and children can't wait to get back to and that was definitely the case for us. My daughter - who is 8 - has decided to re-read this on her own before we look to the next one in the series.

This book really hit me hard - how can a robot be so lovable?! This book is pitched absolutely perfectly, getting the very important message of looking after our environment/nature but making the experience enjoyable also! The way it is written is perfect for young children and definitely a book I will be using with classes in the future!

I requested this novel simply because I'd heard so many people talking about it...and I can see why! Firstly, it's an incredibly clever concept - a robot stranded in the natural world - and I was fascinated by how this unfolded. There is a lot of talk of death and dead animals in the novel and this could prove sensitive to some readers but is also a great way to promote discussion about the realities of life. The chapters are short, the language is easily accessible and how can we not read the others in the series after it ended on such a cliffhanger. Hugely unique.

A strong four stars for this series opener, that does kind of contrive to put a robot in a world of animals, but does so very well. After a storm, five containers – each bearing one semi-humanoid robot – wash on to an island, but only one survives to deliver the cargo intact. Roz, the robot within, is turned on by some pesky otters, and then has no end of drama concerning the other critters of her new world, including what hatches when she rescues a goose egg – and of course imprints on her as a mother. Touching gently on themes such as motherhood, generosity and forgiveness, and just generally being as kind as we can, it will come as a pity to many to see this have a cliff-hanger ending – were it not at least for the fact I was reading this in celebration of the third being published. The fact these are so breezy and dynamic, and certainly have a high fun-to-time ratio, means I am now on the hunt for the others, and their popularity proves I am not alone in that. The art is great, too.

This story is written in a very similar style to 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. You can definitely see how it has been updated and includes much more modern ideas about robots but it does feel a bit copycat.

This is a general review of all the series, a series I discovered and read in 2023.
That said I loved it as Roz is a lovely character, the setting and the world building are excellent, good storytelling.
It deals with serious topics like pollution and environment but it never gets too dark or turn into a dystopia.
Loved it and recommend to read this series because it's an excellent read.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This book was so good, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters. I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was. I will definitely recommend! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

I'm unsure how I've not read this sooner! This book had everything and I will definitely be recommending to my pupils and colleagues. I've powered straight through book 2 and now eagerly awaiting the third title in the series publishing in Sept 2023.

I really enjoyed this read and I'm sure a lot of children will too. I loved the illustrations throughout and the connection we have to nature and how we should protect it.

Roz was a fantastic character, I felt emotionally tied to her and she thrived in her new surroundings.

Read with my 10 year old as a bedtime read. Nice short chapters that mean that his interest was held throughout the book. We will definitely by continuing with Roz’s story.

I must admit that we read this book when it first came out and it was a joy to revisit it. It is such a heartening series and I hope it continues in the same vein. Loved the illustrations too.

I have heard a lot about this series, many many acquaintances rave about it on social media especially. I enjoyed the storyline though found it somewhat slow paced, the style of writing also seemed childlike and not reaching the level expected of UKS2 writers which, given that I am presuming this is aimed at LKS2, seemed quite uninspiring. I believe a book should set an example and use its appeal to stretch and extend, this did neither.
I am going to go in and read Wild Robot Escapes and hopefully Wild Robot Rescues in the hopes my mind is changed.

A beautiful tale of survival and friendship. I found the drawings and story spellbinding. Certainly a book to treasure.
