The second book in the Molly The Maid mystery series is a few years after the first mystery, and Molly, now a head maid, is involved in organising events at the hotel. Someone from Molly's past dies in suspicious circumstances. Compelled to investigate, Molly has to revisit her past to inform the present situation. In this dual-timeline story, we learn about Molly's life before the hotel, which is interesting. Molly's handling of the present-day investigation endears her and keeps the reader turning the pages. I like this mystery's characters and the setting.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Hello again to Molly the Maid & the Regency Grand Hotel. Although this is book 2, it would read well as a standalone.

Molly is now Head Maid &, as such, is involved in planning an exclusive event for a world-renowned author. Unfortunately, he drops dead at the press conference & Molly suspects foul play. She has to revisit her childhood & dear old gran to unlock this present day mystery.

As well written as the first, this book moves at pace & is an easy read. Returning characters & Molly’s foibles leave you with a warm hug feeling & I can’t wait to see what our girl gets up to next.

I loved being back in the world of Molly the Maid. She has such a great voice and is a unique and charming character.
After enjoying the first book in this series, I was keen to get stuck into the second and it didn't disappoint at all, in fact knowing a little more about Molly made it more absorbing.
This wonderful follow up to the author's first book has us back in The Regency Grand Hotel for another mystery surrounding the death of a famous writer.
I also enjoyed the back story with her grandmother at Grimthorpe Manor. This really brought the mystery to life.

A cracking read that really does have you turning the pages.

Many thank to the author, NetGalley and to Harper Collins for the opportunity to read this advance copy.

It was so good to have another investigation with Molly the maid and reacquaint myself with her quirks and the mantra's that she seems to live by. nothing has changed in this book, she's still the same!

Molly understands that she is different from others and as we find out in this book, she has known this since she was a small child when she faced problems socialising and integrating herself at school. She is a very interesting and immensely likeable character and I really hope there are many more books involving her in future.

This book had a few twists and turns and little bits of misdirection where it seemed obvious who and why and yet the final result of the events of this book, when revealed, were a nice surprise and it was so fun watching as Molly figured it all out!

This was a very easy to read mystery novel which I sped through, it really was a pleasure to read it

Molly Maid is back again! Now Head Maid at The Regency Grand Hotel she’s training up her newest maid Lily when a famous author dies right in front of them. This time Molly is determined not to be a suspect and sets finding not only the murderer but also some missing pieces of her own story.
As usual the author plots a fantastic mystery whilst also dealing sensitively with the issues faced by her neurodivergent protagonist. Whilst it’s not completely necessary to read the first instalment before this, I’d highly recommend you do. For both character backstory and the references made to the original in book two.

Molly the maid is back!!

I loved the first book and I imagine it must be a worry for the author whether the second book can be as good but I think it was even better!

A famous author is all set to make a public announcement at the Regency Hotel but before he can reveal all he literally drops dead in front of his audience and everyone is a suspect. I think the book theme will appeal to publishers, bloggers, authors and readers

I took a lot of notes the I was reading as love the little sprinkles of wisdom from Molly (Mollyisms) and her Gran

"Shame is the scar the demons leave behind"

"In my experience" I say "secrets have a way of punishing those who keep them"

"We all make mistakes. It's what we do after that matters"

"Never fear a new beginning. One chapter just end for another to begin"

Molly is back! Loved learning more about her history, particularly as a neurodivergent child in a closed-minded world. Seeing Lily’s own personal progress was inspiring - I’ll always have soft spot for her. The story was again a mysterious murder at the Regency Grand with many twists and turns along the way. I enjoyed the additional characters specific to this mystery - all very complex in their own way.

Read if you like;
- Dual timelines
- Cosy thrillers
-Mystery with light laughs

I enjoyed the second book even more than the first! The backstory of Molly’s childhood and how she knew the was so well done! I definitely like the past mystery/ story more. How the two timelines merged together was great!

This story works best if you’ve read the first book as you’ll get a better understanding of molly and the other characters!

I’ll only say that there was some repetition of the things that Gran told Molly. She recites them in her mind, whilst it was quirky/ funny in the first. It doesn’t feel as fresh as the second book!

Overall, this book was a cosy mystery, easy and entertaining! If there is another instalment, I will definitely be checking it out!

The Mystery Guest is the sequel to The Maid and rejoins Molly, still working at the Regency Grand Hotel, but now as Head Maid with her own trainee.

Despite her grandmother's death, Molly's personal life is going well and she has been living with her boyfriend Juan Manuel for 3 years now.

Everything seems to be going smoothly, until a famous author dies during an event at the hotel. Molly's behaviour again draws negative attention and suspicion, but it soon becomes clear that she can play a valuable role in solving the mystery, and in doing so we also learn more about Molly's past.

An enjoyable read, although veering slightly more towards the cozy crime side than a thriller per se. Interesting range of characters, and great to find out more about Molly. Definitely read The Maid first.

The Mystery Guest is the follow up novel to 2022’s The Maid. The series follows Molly, a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel who loves her job. Molly has a unique way of perceiving the world and doesn’t always understand all the social cues being thrown her way. But when a murder takes place at the hotel, Molly ends up amongst the drama – and the suspects.

The second novel picks up Molly’s story a few years on. She’s now the Head Maid at the hotel, has her own trainee, and is doing well both personally and professionally. When a famous crime author, due to make a mysterious big announcement, drops dead after being poisoned, Molly is thrown into the midst of a murder investigation once more.

This novel departs from the formula a little from the first book, focusing not only on the recent murder, but including flashbacks to Molly’s childhood. It adds to Molly’s characterisation and helps tie in the past to the present. Although, to me, the mystery felt a little anti-climatic overall, the storyline is neat, contained and ultimately satisfying.

I think if you enjoyed the vibe of the initial novel, you’ll find this consistent and an enjoyable sequel. It continues to deliver the “cosy mystery” story, but with an interesting protagonist to keep it original. This probably also could be read as a standalone, although I think it is best appreciated with knowledge of the original book.

All in all, an easy read that I was able to whizz through very quickly. Perfectly nice, but unexceptional.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC copy!

I enjoyed this book, once again a charming tale about Molly.

Much the same style as her first novel, this one gives a back story to get to know Molly better.

I really enjoyed the narrative and am very glad I read this book.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I'm only sorry I missed the first in this series!

Molly is not only a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel, she is the Head Maid - a position she is rightly proud of. Seeing that everything under her remit is done properly is a matter of pride, and she has taken new Maid-in-Training, Lily, under her wing. When the hotel is due to open it's new tea room with a visiting author, Molly is all over things, correcting errors and ensuring it is all perfect. So when the author collapses and dies after drinking tea from the trolley that Lily prepared and Molly 'modified', they are in the sights of the detective in charge of the case . . .

I so enjoyed this novel! I'm sorry I missed the first one, but in this one we learn something about Molly's upbringing and why she is such a stickler for perfection. She is quite the character, beautifully created and such fun to read about. The murder had me puzzled, and I really enjoyed the process of discovering who the killer was. An excellent read, one I'm happy to recommend and give 4.5*.

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley; this is - as always - my honest, original and unbiased review.

When I started this book, I hadn't realised it was a sequel to The Maid and would feature the same characters but it was certainly a happy surprise - I loved The Maid and Molly, the lead character, was very original and endearing. A second book about the same people can be difficult though, and it's not always easy to capture the same magic. Fortunately Nita Prose manages it perfectly.

Molly now has slightly more confidence but remains essentially the same person, and it's interesting to find out more about her past. Her memories of her gran remain sweet and we also see some of the more painful parts of her childhood, and her reasons for some of her sayings. The central mystery, the death of a famous author about to make an announcement in the hotel, becomes intertwined with her memories and her very particular way of thinking (she is clearly on the autistic spectrum) helps solve the mystery.

The cast of supporting characters is excellent (although I missed seeing more of Juan Manuel) and there are lots of opportunities at the end to go in different directions with them, so hopefully we'll be seeing more of them soon. A really enjoyable, light read but the strong characters set it apart.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, I had read the first in the series so I was aware of Molly’s way of thinking. I just love the character of Molly, she is so dedicated to doing her job in the best way possible. She is meticulous over fine details and this aids her in solving the mystery. I enjoyed the flashbacks to when she was around 10 years old and how it linked to the present day problem. The relationship between Molly and her grandmother was endearing. There is a murder mystery to solve and Molly plays a key part. I’m looking forward for more in this series. I received a copy and have voluntarily been it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A very successful follow-up to The Maid. It is best to read in order to become accustomed to the character of Molly and the staff of the Regency Grand Hotel Staff.
Molly Gray has now been promoted to Head Maid and wears her badge with pride. Indeed, she has also instituted a handbook for all the hotel maids to follow, regarding cleanliness of the bedrooms and the neatness of the staff and their uniforms. Molly is probably on the autistic spectrum, but thanks to the friendly doorman and hotel manager, she is making progress in her communication skills when at work.
Four years on from previous events, most of the regular characters witness another death in the hotel. A guest, famous author J.D Grimthorpe collapses after a cup of tea. Previous to this event, he has informed the press gathering at his new book launch party, that he has been keeping a secret from everyone which will be revealed soon.
Molly knows that she holds the key to this secret, but she is not sure exactly what the secret is! There are dual time lines to this novel and the first takes us back to when Molly’s Gran was a young maid and working in a large country house. Molly picked up all her skills and knowledge from her Gran, and expressed no greater wish than to follow in her footsteps. We learn some relevant back history that gives us clues to the present day, and once again, we are in the presence of Detective Stark, who attempted to interview Molly in the first book with hilarious misunderstandings all round. Stark and Molly team up, and we find that Molly has sleuthing skills far in advance of the Detective.
Molly is a lovely person, honest, determined and direct. She is becoming more confident about her abilities and has a good sense of right and wrong, and laziness. A very special person will be needed to film her role.
This novel answers many questions from the debut novel and hints at more adventures to follow. A five star read.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers.Harper Collins UK, for my advanced digital copy, freely given in exchange for my honest review. I will copy this to Goodreads and Amazon UK.

Molly the Maid is back, with a cracking case to solve. If you thought The Maid, was good, then this second installment knocks it out the park. Nita Prose is such a brilliant writer, her plot just draws you in and you can't stop reading. Molly is one of my favorite characters ever, she's quirky, a bit weird and she won't stop investigating until the case is solved. The Mystery Guest, delves a bit deeper into Molly's history, with her wonderful Gran. There are a couple of surprises, along the way, Molly's determination to break the case, shines through the whole book. It's a story filled with brilliant, quirky characters and I would love to see Molly on our TV screens. Both books need to be on TV, they would make a gripping series. Huge Congratulations to Nita Prose. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this PHENOMENAL read.

There are some characters that you really want to come back into your life and Molly the Maid is definitely one of them! I loved the first book in this series and I loved this one just that little bit more. Set over two timelines, I couldn’t even say I loved one more than the other they were both that good. It was lovely reading about Molly’s Gran and getting a bit more of an insight into her life growing up. Other likeable characters also returned plus some new ones. I really hope there will be more in this series. If you like a cosy mystery with an endearing character then this series is a must read. Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for letting me read and review this book. 4.5 ⭐️

Wow molly the maid!
This is a great second book in the series and I can’t wait to find out if there is another on the way! I read through this quickly and enjoyed every minute of it.

I enjoyed the story of Molly in The Maid and was looking forward to reading this follow up. It was good to see Molly’s progress in the intervening months. I found the dual timeline where we learned more about Molly’s childhood and the wisdom imparted by her Gran very interesting and touching if a little repetitive in parts. It’s stated that this can be read as a standalone book but there is no doubt that it would be a richer experience if The Maid was read first.
