Wow! How do I begin to describe the rollercoaster read that is The Woman on the Ledge? To say that it is thrilling and engaging would be an understatement. This book takes the concept of plot twist and turns it on its head. Just when you think you know what's going on, the story leads you down a very different path. I was hooked from page one, and hated having to put the book down to do things like work, or engage with reality.
I hadn't read anything by Ruth Mancini prior to The Woman on the Ledge. Now, I really want to.
Thanks to Netgalley, Century Books and Penguin Random House for the eARC of this book in exchange for this honest review.

I got up to part three of this book and was ready to give up. I was looking for things to do rather than read anymore. However as it was an ARC and I don't like to give up I carried on the next day and the story took a new turn. It improved immensely becoming almost a different book. The plot was extremely clever and must have taken an enormous amount of time to plan out. Definitely worth persevering with.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

A woman falls to her death from a London bank's twenty=fifth floor roof terrace. You're arrested for her murder. You tell the police that you only met the victim the previous night at your office party. She was threatening to jump from the roof, but you had talked her down. You've got nothing to do with this tragedy. You're clearly being framed. So why do the police keep picking holes in your story? Even your lawyer doesn't seem to believe you.
This story has been divided into several different parts, and each part tells a different story. Tate Kinsella is an actress, but she is working as a temp at a French bank. It's the night of the bank's Christmas party. No one is really talking to Tate, so she decides to go out onto the roof terrace. There she finds Helen, who is sitting on the ledge contemplating suicide. Tate manages to talk her down. But the next day, Tate is arrested for the woman's murder.
This is a cleverly crafted story. With so many twists and turns, it was forever changing direction. The characters are well portrayed. I was quickly pulled into this story. We get flashbacks telling us what had happened during some character's childhoods. You'll find it hard to separate the truth from the lies. It's just deviously written all the way through.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #RandomHouseUK #Cornerstone and the author #RuthMancini for my ARC of #TheWomanOnTheLedge in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book which was cleverly written and conveyed some interesting themes in the story. The heartbreak of a woman who could not tell her daughter of her potential life ending health issues and how the story unravels around this. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read the book prior to publication.

This was a very enjoyable read which kept my attention throughout. Especially as the pacing was very intense which kept me gripped.

I first read a novel by this author five years ago and promised myself, despite a few niggles with it, I'd read another, as she'd made quite an impression. You always hope the standard is going to be kept. And it certain is.
This is compelling, well written, superbly characterised and totally captivating. The Woman on the Ledge: well, it's what you expect. A woman does indeed fall to her death from a high ledge, but nothing is quite as it seems. Why did she do it? DID she do it, or was she pushed? Tate Kinsella is a suspect, but there's something she's keeping from the police. And her lawyer.
And there begins the tangled web! Absolutely brilliant. Suspenseful right to the very end.
I didn't like Mancini's use of the present-tense narrative when I read her In the Blood, so I was a bit disappointed to find that it was used here, too. However, I got over it (!), as a lot of the story is back story and therefore in the past tense (hooray!). Present-tense narrative just strangles a story, in my humble opinion.
That aside, excellent book, and I really must not leave five years to read another by this very talented author.

This is a great story. It goes off in one direction and then another and you soon realise it is way more complicated than it first seemed. A very topical theme which is dealt with in a most original way! Fast paced and interesting.

Wow, what a plot line. I am absolutely in awe of Ruth creating such an epic read! It really isn't what you expect and for that, it keeps you hooked. Characters are incredible, I'm so thrilled at how it went because it leaves you questioning so much, it has to be devoured! I did not see any of the twists and thoroughly enjoyed the ending. Sad as it is, but what beautiful friendships through tragedy. Loved it. Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very enjoyable read, with a unique storyline and great characters, especially the maim character Tate. Its a real page turner with more twists than you can imagine with a very acceptable outcome. Highly recommended.

Buckle up for the ride and enjoy the twists and turns of this tale of revenge and obsession. Read it really quickly, it's great escapism and I loved how the story emerged.

I really enjoyed this! The main protagonist was a good character and it had lots of plot twists to keep it entertaining. A satisfying ending where a truely disgusting man gets his just desserts. OK, some bits were a little far fetched but overall I was very engrossed. A good read!

A woman falls to her death from a London bank’s twenty-fifth-floor roof terrace.
You’re arrested for her murder.
You tell the police that you had only met the victim the previous night at your office party. She was threatening to jump from the roof, but you had talked her down.
You’ve got nothing to do with this tragedy. You’re clearly being framed.
So why do the police keep picking holes in your story? Even your lawyer doesn’t seem to believe you.
It soon becomes obvious that you’re keeping secrets.
But who are you trying to protect? And why?
This is one hell of a plot and it is done very, very well.
You might think that you know what is going on with this, but believe me, you don't.

Tate Kinsella has been arrested for murder. The story is told in current time and with flashbacks as the story develops as Tate tells her lawyer Sarah what happened, but Tate is not always credible, so what is the truth? There's an interesting plot quirk where chapters are repeated later in the book, but the meaning is different now the reader has more information. I liked the writing and the story but felt like there were too many people involved with Tate just to fill in any gaps, and the ending felt a bit implausible.

Tate finds herself arrested on suspicion of murder, when a woman is found dead, after being pushed off the roof of the office building where Tate is a temp.
As you read on through the many twists and turns of this book, you realise that nothing is as it seems.
Every time I thought I knew where the story was heading, there was another twist.
A strong story of female revenge on a man who has been committing some of the worst crimes known to women.
This is revenge with a capital R!

Tate Kinsella finds herself arrested and charged with murder after a woman is found dead, seemingly after being pushed off the roof of a building. All the evidence points the finger of suspicion towards her including her own statements and her presence at the scene. But all is not as it seems and stunning twists and dripping of clues to us, the readers, and a very different story begins to unfold. The ending is a tad rushed to make sure all the loose ends are tied neatly but we are left with one final twist. A good but not altogether satisfactory read.

This book has such a great opening, you're sucked in from page one and then it's pretty difficult to get out of its grip. It's so hard to say a whole lot without spoilers, and one of the joys of this book is that it doesn't go in the direction I was thinking – at ALL. There's missteps and reveals and surprises all the way along, but the characters and the situation are (mostly) very believable, and I definitely wanted to know what happened.
I loved the setup of Tate telling the story to Sarah, her lawyer, and while there were a couple of places I was a bit confused, once everything slotted into place it all made sense, and there were lots of lightbulb moments. It's a great paced book, and it's incredibly emotional in places: you will feel rage and heartbreak and triumph. A great, unusual thriller with a hugely satisfying ending.

You will get addicted to this book. I read this in one day whilst on holiday as i couldn't put it down.
Although there are quite a few characters, the story immediately unfolds and throws you straight in at the important part.
A brilliant read which kept me guessing right up to the end with an emotional and sad twist.

A satisfying story of revenge that will go down very well with today's 'me too' culture, empowering victims everywhere.
I really enjoy the characters and twists and turns of this story. I know I'm enjoying a book when my eyes are drooping but I'm still wanting to read 'one more chapter'.
A very satisfying and clever thriller.

Not as clever as it thinks it is! I could see where the writer was trying to go with this story but it never quite hit the mark. It is told mostly through flashbacks, the overall plot was interesting but it just fell short. The motives were weak and the relationships weren't written strong enough to drive the back story IMO.

I absolutely loved this - it's one of those where you're racing through it as you can't wait to see what happens but at the same time you don't want it to end. I loved the clever and unique way the author chose to tell this complex story. Divided into several parts, events are revisited but with new information twisting the story in a completely different direction each time, making it literally impossible to guess. I was hooked from start to finish and will definitely be seeking out this author again.
