Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC.

In the ever-evolving digital landscape, "Confident Coding" emerges as a beacon for beginners eager to navigate the coding cosmos. Authored by Rob Percival and Darren Woods, this book is a mentor in print, offering a structured path to mastering the essentials of coding.

The book's strength lies in its ability to demystify the intimidating world of programming for novices. Percival and Woods, with their clear and conversational tone, make the reader feel like they are learning from a patient and knowledgeable friend. The chapters are meticulously crafted, each serving as a stepping stone that gradually elevates the reader's understanding from the ground up.

"Confident Coding" covers a range of topics, from the basics of HTML and CSS to the more complex realms of JavaScript and Python. The authors do not shy away from encouraging the reader to tackle ambitious projects, such as cloning the look of a website, which speaks volumes about their confidence in the reader's potential growth.

However, the book is not without its challenges. Some readers may find the leap from basic concepts to advanced projects a bit daunting. Additionally, the black-and-white screenshots could benefit from better quality and relevance to aid visual learners.

Despite these minor hiccups, "Confident Coding" stands out for its practical approach. The inclusion of real-world applications and the encouragement to dive into coding projects make the learning process engaging and rewarding. The supplementary exercises available online are a valuable resource, reinforcing the lessons learned and ensuring that the reader's journey doesn't end on the last page.

In conclusion, "Confident Coding" is a commendable effort by Percival and Woods to empower individuals with the skills needed to thrive in today's digital economy. It's an essential read for anyone looking to gain a solid foundation in coding and a confident step towards a future in software development.

I have been coding for over 40 years and I have found this to be an excellent book. The format is set up to be helpful to beginners to intermediate for learning and brush-up. The exercises were informative and easy to understand. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn coding and a gateway to more advanced learning. This is a 5 star book.

This is a book packed with coding info and tasks to complete. I’m still working my way through it but it has been very informative. There are clear explanations of what things are and why we have to add them and their purpose to the code. The assignments are step by step. However my only complaint it that as an ebook it wasn’t the best choice for me. I personally would of liked the ease of flipping back pages to remind myself of some coding, working from my kindle made it a bit harder for me, and the images added weren’t as clear as I needed them to be. But I’m sure this book is available as a paperback and for me that would be better. However I still managed to create my signing webpages and was really pleased with myself.

This is a very extensive book, and close to ideal for anyone getting an interest for coding. The writing is good and as clear as can be with this subject. The layout isn't very exciting, but also clear while keeping the book to a reasonable size.
The depth of every subject is just right for readers to get an understanding and a taste. I was surprised with the lack of databases (like MySQL/PHP), as they are so important, but I understand it's not easy to learn just a little, like with the languages.
I was also surprised with a chapter on debugging, but that's excellent!
