I liked this, it was a quick, yet good, read and was well written. I haven't read a book on this topic before, so it was a good first read.

When I wake up my husband is back and is holding a baby but it is not ours! This story had me just dying to know what happened! It's addictive page turning plot twist had me reading it in one sitting.

Magnolia finds herself giving birth 3 weeks early at night in the middle of a massive rainstorm while her husband, Ivan, is away and unable to get to her. Despite her fears and barriers, she gives birth to a beautiful baby girl.

Which is why, when she wakes up hours later and her husband is holding the cutest baby boy, Magnolia is utterly confused and deemed delusional by almost everyone around her. She finds herself confiding in a young girl, Billie, who's son was born stillborn the night she gave birth to her "daughter". However, Billie's description of her stillborn son oddly matches the very much alive boy that Magnolia and Ivan have been caring for this entire time.


I more or less inhaled this quick novella in about 3 days. While I found myself questioning Magnolia at times, I don't think I would have considered this suspenseful in the slightest, I figured out the major plot point halfway through and found the "why" pretty unoriginal. There were a few grammatical errors that I caught (a red car that was supposed to be black, for example), but I'll attribute that to the fact I was reading an ARC of this book. However, I do like Mora's style of writing and that it was a quick and easy read; I'd read more from her in the future.

This book was an easy read. Moving at a great pace, it was actually a short book so it was over before I knew it. The ending was what I found disappointing . It kind of let the book down.

An FYI for everyone before they read this - it's a novella, so it's just over 100 pages in length. This means you can read this pretty quickly in a few hours, but don't expect a full length book.

Another thing to note is that this book deals with some heavy themes including stillbirth, child abduction, labour, post-partum depression and more.

Given the short nature of this, you expect this story to move quickly but in complete honesty, this book is poorly paced. Everything moves slowly at the beginning and middle, but the end is ridiculously fast. All the major plot twists happen in the last 10% of the book, and it feels like the author just wanted the story to be over.

Figuring out the plot was pretty easy - the only thing I didn't click on to was the why. But the who was signalled and I'd figured that out.

Because this was so short, none of the characters really felt fleshed out. Magnolia felt like she had the most, which is to be expected as the main character, but it wasn't enough to make me truly care. I spent most of the book rolling my eyes at her, even if I understood why she was doing these things.

Overall, this was okay if you're looking for something quick to read between books but it wasn't anything amazing.

A breezy and gripping read that leaps into the realm of ridiculous and far-fetched. Then again, I read fiction (thrillers especially) to escape and not for groundbreaking literature.

I enjoyed what an easy and entertaining novella this was. Themes of grief, loss and motherhood + its perils and struggles are explored pretty well despite the book's length. The writing is good too so I definitely look forward to checking out the author's other works.

I just find the climax onwards super wild, way too fast-paced and unbelievable. Not necessarily a bad thing and overall, this was a satisfying popcorn thriller that I devoured.

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW WOW. Do not miss this book. It is sooo well written, completely gripping so make sure you set aside many hours so that you can greedily devour it in one swoop.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

I was kindly given an ARC in exchange for an honest review and have given it 3 stars.

The premise of this book was actually quite exciting and as soon as I read the blurb, I knew I needed to read it.

However, I felt it was way too short, this story could have been explored in much more depth, as it was it feels like it was rushed. None of the characters were all that likeable and the twist was a bit predictable. However, as it is a short story, it is a nice easy read if you are looking for something nice and easy to read.

I LOVED this one, it had everything I was looking for. I was coming off of a memoir and needed a short thriller to bring me back to the fiction side.

As a mother, we know our children from the inside out, the moment they're in our belly, even through the newborn stage and this woman KNEW this baby wasn't her child.

Although, this book was predictable, I found myself still wanting to read it more and more because I HAD to know how it ended.

A quick easy read not too brain testing, but a good recommended read.

I chose this book as the general storyline sounded extremely interesting and having had a baby 18 months ago, it interested me how Mora would play this story out - actual kidnap vs. Post Natal Depression/Anxiety. After all this is described as a psychological thriller so anything could happen!

The opening scenes are very dramatic where our heroine gives birth... on her own... in the middle of a storm. She's a trained Midwife and safely delivers a little girl.

Hours later after having a sleep due to being exhausted, she awakes to find out the 'she' is now actually a 'he' and has to fight to find out the truth.

As expected for a short thriller, the story starts really strongly and get straight into drama with the childbirth scenes and some amazingly powerful descriptions of a woman's labour.

It then moves very quickly through the story to keep the momentum and suspense up. About 2 chapters in and I was hooked.

It is a shorter story and this to me was reflected in the ending, which I felt was a little rushed but overall this was a great read!

It is a story about a mother's intuition, resilience and sheer determination to protect her child.

It had a unique plot that I have not read yet and really enjoyed.

A very quick read at just fifteen chapters "Not My Baby" by Anya Mora is an incredible thriller that will have you hooked from start to finish. The suspense is intense, and the plot twists will blow your mind. I couldn't put it down! Highly recommend giving it a read. 📚🔥

Not My Baby by Anya Mora was a great read. I enjoyed the original plot, but found parts to be predictable. What I loved most was the ending; it was perfect!

What do you do if you give birth at home, alone, to a beautiful baby girl, fall asleep, then wake up to your husband holding a baby saying you had a son? This is the dilemma facing Magnolia in Not My Baby. This novella was a good, short read with a few twists. I plan on reading more from this author.

NOT MY BABY was a quick read. It’s on the shorter side so I read it pretty fast. Two Moms gave birth on the same night in the middle of a storm. One baby lived, one baby died. The baby that lived was a girl cradled with her tired mother who fell asleep after the birth. When she wakes up, her husband is finally home and is so happy to have a son. A son? No, that’s not right. She gave birth to a daughter. Didn’t she? Why won’t anyone believe her? Is she not over the loss of her stillborn daughter last year? Is she going mad?
