The twists in this book did not go where I thought they would, and I’m still deciding if that was a good thing. The family twist was interesting, but felt like it came out of nowhere.

Imagine you are allowed to commit one murder during your life with no consequences. Great fast pacing in this story and plenty of twists kept me fully engaged.

Unfortunately I could not get into this book at all, I have realised that audio books are just not for me as I cannot concentrate on the voices. I much prefer a physical book.

This is such a good idea for a book. It got me thinking about what would happen in my own life if registration existed. I loved that it was fast paced but there were some chapters that felt like they were just there to fill the book out. All in all I did enjoy the book and look forward to more from this author.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.

Fast paced and an interesting premise. I would read more if there was ever a sequel. The narrator did a good job as well.

The Registration is a book I had never heard of before the end of last year. When I was asking friends for recommendations for my ‘Read 12 Books Recommended by 12 Friends’ Challenge someone recommended this one. This is honestly not my typical kind of read but as I was using this challenge to try and broaden my reading horizons, I decided to give it a go. I am so glad I added this book as I actually really enjoyed it.

The Registration is a dystopian thriller set in a world that asks ‘if it was legal for you to register and kill one person in your life would it help control the amounts of crime in our world.’ I found this such a fascinating concept and it does really make you think about the similarities and differences between this world and ours. It definitely included some very real topics, for example women who wanted to have an abortion had to use their ‘registration’ for this and there were rebel groups fighting against this. It was so thought provoking and I really enjoyed this concept. The main plot centred around Lynell, a girl who goes to use her registration only to overhead someone she has never met registering her.

Right from the first chapter I was absolutely hooked into this book. Madison Lawson did an absolutely fantastic job of really gripping you in right from the start. I listened to this one via audiobook, which I listen to on my commutes and I remember pulling into my work carpark mouth agape, shocked and kind of angry that I was going to have to wait an entire day till my drive home to listen to more. I felt like this throughout the entire thing.

The narrator of this audiobook was fantastic. She really brought the characters and this plot to life, and I am so glad that I decided to listen to the audiobook of this one. It was truly fantastic. A huge thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me the audiobook edition to review. If you’re looking for something exciting that you can’t put down, give this one a go. It truly was such a fantastic book and after seeing Madison is going to write a sequel I honestly cannot wait to read it. The Registration was action packed, fast paced and leaves you hanging all the way through. I honestly cannot recommend this one enough! Go get it now, you won’t be disappointed!

The premise of the story was what drew me in first. You can register to kill one person without facing any penalties as long as it is done within fourteen days. Lynell finds out that her name has been registered and now has to desperately go on the run to keep from being killed.

This is a good dystopian book filled with tension and intrigue! Great characters and the author did a good job of setting up with story without it being too much of an information dump. This set you up to be drawn into the “world”.

I enjoyed the narrator. Captivating and well done!

Major YA dystopia vibes but with slightly more adult conversations. I would say that this book was pretty average... except for the torture porn scenes that nearly made me quit, so, be warned. I haven't really got anything else to say about this book unfortunately.

I liked the story a lot. It was a unique concept with fast paced narration and amazing plot twists

Though I'll not recommed the audiobook. The narration ruined the book for me and I almost quit multiple times. I felt the narration was quite monotonous

The plot was an intriguing one but you could hear the authors political leanings too much therefore I could not finish.

I loved this audiobook!
Great premise, and I was hooked right from the first few chapters. The suspense is immediately provided and never lets up! I had the audiobook completed in just a few days. The narrator was excellent, capturing the drama and emotion as if she were describing her own story.
The idea of The Registration is a strong one, and I would love to read more books about it if the author decides to serialise it.

Thank you NetGalley and CamCat Books, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Audiobooks for this audio ARC.

The narration was okay. There were times when she sounded robotic and I nearly quit listening. What a unique story. I did enjoy most of it.

Very fast engaging book, but the concept of the registration is creepy and reminds me of the movies the purge, If you register the victim and complete the killing within fourteen days, imagine that it is legal for you to commit one murder during your lifetime. Lynell Mize is therefore horrified to hear a stranger Register her for execution while she waits in line to register the man who sexually assaulted her when she was a youngster. Why would a stranger waste his one chance at a legal murder on her? She needs to learn who wants to kill her and why if she's going to make it through the next two weeks.

It's easier said than done because Lynell quickly learns that numerous strangers have used her Registration. Along the way, she reunites with her estranged husband who is determined to dig up a past Lynell prefers to keep buried. only a few days remain Lynell is committed to finding the truth and escaping a fate she did not choose.

I thought the idea behind this book was quite unique.

Each year a registration is held where you can kill another person (the person you register) without repercussions and you have two weeks in which to kill them. The catch is, you only get one registration in your lifetime and if you fail to kill them within the two weeks, you forfeit your registration.

There are a number of moral and ethical dilemmas in the book, including ideas of right and wrong and when is it okay to end a life (i.e. in pregnancy, when the registrant is evil or cruel, when it is to en pain and suffering).

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good thriller that will also keep you thinking.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The premise of this book is captivating... A not-so-distant future where each person is given the ability to "register" (aka kill) one person. Once registered, you have two weeks to complete the task. Main character Lynell is in line to use her one and only registration, when she hears someone else giving her own name to be registered. A wild journey ensues as Lynell discovers why her name has come up for Registration.

There were a few holes in this story that eventually were answered, but still left some questions. Overall I really enjoyed the premise and flow of this book, read by Kathleen Mclerney who did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.

Big thank you to NetGalley for this Audiobook.

The Registration means that it is legal to commit one murder. If you do Register, you have two 2 weeks to complete your task
Lynell Mize is in line to Register the man who abused her as a child. She additionally discovers that a stranger Register to kill her.
Lynell does not get to do her registration as she needs to try to save herself for the next two weeks. Her ex-husband seemed to know about this and tries to help her with a new ID.
Things get really nasty as she is indeed found. Additionally it appears there were many strangers who Registered her!

This story peaked my curiosity. However things got so bizarre that I soon struggled through most of it. I found most of the characters unlikeable including Lynell.

I hung in there and found the ending satisfying!

Want to thank NetGalley and CamCat Publishers for this early audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for September 29, 2023.

Big props to the narrator, first of all. Next, this isn't usually my genre of choice. I went into this with low expectations, but I stayed glued to my ear buds all day listening. Lawson teases out information well to keep tension up and adds plot twists and turns at the right moments. Very enjoyable.

Love the narration. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. I listened to the whole book in 2 days.

After reading the synopsis of The Registration, I just had to find out more and wow, I was not let down. This book gave me Hunger Games and The Purge vibes but combined together. I was constantly rooting for Lynell and couldn’t stop till I got to the end to find out how she was- this story had me completely hooked. I’m so pleased that I had come across this book and can’t wait to explore some of her future books.
