Thanks NetGalley for approving me for this ARC. A easy good read, kept my attention throughout and enjoyed.

This was an interesting read but the stories were way too short for my liking, I wish they had a bit more detail or were just a bit longer tbh as it felt like I didn't have time to become fully invested in the story before I was whisked onto the next one.

Stories of the Occult is a collection of information on hauntings, witchcraft and mythical creatures from all around the world.

I enjoyed this book and found the topics being discussed very interesting. I feel it is a good introduction to the topic of the occult and would be a great start for anyone beginning their search into it.

I feel like some of the passages were quite short, I would have liked some more information to be provided. However, this did make the book easy to read and understand.

Thanks to NetGalley and Summersdal for providing me with this arc.

Whether you’re just beginning to open your eyes to the macabre and occult, or a seasoned consumer of scary stories, King’s Stories of the Occult offers a quick-stop tour through the world’s most uncanny tales and legends, from ghostly hauntings, to witchcraft, and everything in between.

Split into multiple, easy-to-read sections, this book delves into a vast number of stories from around the world - some that I recognised and enjoyed the retelling of, and others that were completely new to me. As a lover of all things spooky, being able to present me with stories I hadn’t heard of is quite a feat, and proof of the extensive research that went into this book.
Personally, as a person with an interest in this topic, I found myself wanting for more information on the stories, and a more conclusive retelling. The tone throughout the book is conversational and surface-level - perfect for novices in this subject, or those wanting a quick read, but perhaps not designed for those who would rather a more thorough and serious approach.

Thank you to Summersdale for giving me an advanced reader copy of this.
