Returning to Charming Cove. Was a great trip. You can read it alone or as book 2. It’s a cute, witchy romance. You will really like this one.

Super cute, fluffy romance. For fans of The Prince and Me. Wish there was a little more mention of the vampire lore and maybe more seasonal writing. Overall cute book that makes ya feel good. LOVE Penelope!

This is free on KU for a reason. So so many other witch/spooky/halloween books that do it better. This was basically the first book with some slight differences.

I really enjoyed returning to the Cornish town of Charming Cove with Linsey Hall's How to Fake Date a Vampire. Witch Emma agrees to fake date reclusive vampire and duke, Alaric, so he won't disappoint his beloved grandmother in exchange for Emma holding the witch's major event, Beltane Ball on his estate, so she can become a full member of her coven.

Despite their differences, Emma and Alaric both experience grief. Emma was orphaned after losing both parents, and is longing for a family and sense of belonging. Meanwhile Alaric lost his mother, while hating his father. Refreshingly for Alaric, Emma has zero interest in his wealth. Both of them were perfect for each other.

Aria and Callan from the previous book also make a delightful cameo, with Emma's skunk familiar Penelope hitting it off with Aria's badger familiar Boris. This book was cosy, fun and divinely cosy. I couldn't put it down.

NB: I highly discourage getting the audiobook. The publishers have used the same narrator as the first book and their British accent reverts to American accent and it sounds dreadful.

This was a sweet quick read, I truly enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I loved the witch aspects and the vampires were down played a little more then i care for but I guess so were the witches. There is a very small amount of spice, even giving it one 🌶️ is too much. All in all a great read.

4.2/5 Thank you, author, for giving the male lead some depth and personality this time that went beyond his love for female lead. Though Alaric and Emma skipped right over a lot of the fake part, watching their relationship blossom in front of Vivienne and Marien was adorable. Their first two meet cutes were laugh out loud funny. We also got Penelope the familiar skunk. The familiars are definitely my favorite part of the series, though Penelope kind of came out of nowhere in this one. Continuously highlighting the fact that Emma isn’t interested in Alaric’s fancy house got annoying, like hello it’s big and empty but the man can cook, it would make a perfect Bed & Breakfast, literally my dream, think of all the fun people that would stay there. Anyway, author still needs to work on the rushed endings, seriously would it hurt you to write like 10 more pages just to give me some time to process? But I think she definitely improved from the first. I liked the juxtaposition of grand gestures from the first to the second books, deconstructing in the first and constructing in the second, curious to see what the next one will be. Also just a little frustrated by the fact that Emma never confides in Alaric that she knows his father took funding from the orphanage not because of the article leaked from his ex, but from the fact that she was in said orphanage and it closed down. I feel like she set it up and never followed through. I loved the found family trope, literally filled my heart with happiness, between her coven and Alaric’s family, both dead and alive, she won’t be lonely anymore.

For a 300 page book this was a jam packed fun time just like the first, such a quick read and I can’t fault it for missing a few things because I’ve found I will yet again take a little too short over a few hundred pages too long. This has already been posted to goodreads as I downloaded it on KU before I got approved for the Netgalley copy. Thank you publisher for the copy of this book. This will be a reread for me in the future and I’m looking forward to the rest of her books.

How to Fake Date A Vampire was as if Bridgerton met Fantasy. My favorite characters in most books have been side characters, that does not stop now. The main character Emma has an adorable familiar, a skunk named Penelope, who I feel really pulls the story together. The main thing I didn't necessarily enjoy was the fact that the main characters relationship was more sub-plotted than advertised consideringthe fact the book is quite literally called ‘How o Fake Date A Vampire’. While the book was a cute little read, I only really enjoyed the interactions which included penelope the skunk and the duke’s grandmother. When you think of vampires most would think blood, fangs, and some vampirish actions. The only reason we would know Alaric the duke is a vampire is because he said so and he drinks his alcohol with blood, there was literally no other indication of him being a blood sucker. I feel as if the title deceived me from what the book was actually about.

I already loved the first installment of the Charming Cove series and the second one did not disappoint. This book felt like a warm hug and like coming home. I was especially happy to see Aria and other characters from the first book reappear.

Hall combined some of my all-time favorite tropes in "How to Fake-Date a Vampire", such as:
- the lovely small town vibes,
- of course, the witchy vibes,
- the found family trope,
- the fake-dating trope,
- another lovely and unique animal companion (a skunk!!)

I can't wait for - hopefully - more books being added to this series, as they prove to be a safe haven for me. And I won't stop recommending them to my friends.

How to Fake Date a Vampire was a quick and fun fake dating paranormal romcom. This is the first book I've read by Linsey Hall And it definitely was a great one to start off the Spooky Season. 🖤
I would recommend this book to anyone new to the fantasy genre, who loves fake dating, who does not mind a slight third-act/miscommunication, and who is interested in finding out how to fake-date a vampire.

How to fake date a vampire is the second book in the Charming Cove series, it can be read as a standalone. This book follows a witch named Emma, an apprentice witch in the local coven hoping to be be picked to join as a full member & Alaric the local Vampire. I really enjoyed this book it was very easy to read and funny. I finished it in one sitting. I do wish it had a little more spice.

I would suggest this book for anyone wanting to get into the paranormal/fantasy genre. I will check out more books by Linsey Hall.

A lonely witch meets a tortured vampire duke in this cute fake dating romance book! The perfect book for the spooky season I loved learning about Emma and discovering her witchy powers alongside her. When Emma and Duke Alaric find themselves in need of each other a fake dating romance blooms! I love a fake dating trope and this book delivers on it for sure! Sweet, funny, and heartwarming! This book is a bit predictable, however, and has a miscommunication trope that isn’t my favorite. While I loved reading about Emma’s witchy powers and her coven, I wish we would have gotten more about the duke being a vampire! He was kind of one in name only and that is surprising since the word vampire is in the title. There isn’t a difference between Emma dating a vampire duke or a regular human duke. The ending definitely made me tear up although the rest of the story did not pull on my heartstrings as I would have hoped. Especially considering our protagonists backstories. Overall though it was a sweet and quick read!

Loved reading the fabulously written paranormal story. When Emma, a witch, needs a spectacular place to hold a ball, she makes a deal to fake date a handsome vampire, Alaric. Read the highly recommended and a must read riveting love story full of romance and captivating characters.

I enjoyed this read but was not blown away by it. I really enjoyed the side characters, Penelope stole the show as a quirky sidekick. The relationship was very sweet and I enjoyed following it through, but hated the miscommunication and problems it developed. I also really wasn’t a fan of how quickly everyone got over the fight.

Cute story and an easy read! I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy, light fantasy read!

This is a super light hearted read! This is a great pallet cleanser or fun fall read.

It's a modern setting with witches and vampires.

It was fun to see a spin on the fake dating this way.

If you're looking for a cozy modern fantasy read this is perfect!

At first I really like the whole concept of witch and vampire love story but unfortunatelly I didn't quite see it while reading it. It was a lovely story but the whole relationship and chemistry between main characters wasn't really there for me. I like the found family aspect of the book but other than that there wasn't much going on that would hook me into the story.

I read this as a standalone despite it being part of a series. The writing is very easy to get into and overall this is a lighthearted, low-stakes mystery/fantasy/romance.

The story follows Emma, a witch, and Alaric, a vampire. They decide to make a deal: he'll allow her to use his estate for a ball and in exchange she will pretend to be his girlfriend so he can make his grandmother happy.

I had some problems with the story. For one, Alaric is supposed to be a vampire, but there is barely any mention of his vampiric qualities! He isn't immortal, he doesn't thirst for blood, he doesn't even sparkle in the sunlight! He is essentially a human but labeled as a vampire. This was really disappointing for me considering the title of the book.

Secondly, I am not a fan of insta-love, and Emma and Alaric seemed to fall too fast. I felt like we didn't get enough time to explore their characters and personalities before they declared their love for each other.

Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for cozy magical stories where romance isn't the only part of the story and who enjoys a sprinkle of mysterious ghosts.

I was so excited to go back to Charming Cove and this time we meet Emma, having grown up in foster care she longs to be a fully fledged member of her coven. Emma is just looking for a place to belong and feel like family. Emma meets the Vampire Duke when she tries to get him to let her use the estate to host the Beltane ball which is her way into the coven. After initially saying no, the duke needs Emma to play his fake girlfriend in front of his grandmother but soon they end up falling for each other.
I absolutely loved all the characters we meet in this book especially Emma’s familiar Penelope!
This was such an enjoyed read for me. It was a nice change from my usual reads. It features found family and romance. It’s light hearted and a quick and easy read. I really enjoyed the writing style of this book and felt it flowed really nicely.

I really look forward to seeing what comes next from this author. I can’t wait to go back to Charming Cove again.

I enjoyed devouring this cozy romance. I read it as a standalone and it was just soooo cuuute and full of humor. I really liked the characters especially Vivian I LOVE HER, I mean how can't I love the cool granny who ruins her sleep schedule to watch Netflix.😂💕💕💕

Emma and Alaric ahhhh😩 They're such a cute couple and I really enjoyed reading Alaric POVs😮‍💨.

The thing that doesn't work for me was Lily and how she surprisingly became a good person after a long time of being a bad and cunning character😅. And the characters was using the same sentences and expressions of each others, It was so confusing.

But in general I absolutely enjoyed the premise of WITCH × VAMPIRE and all the paranormal elements particularly the familiar animal Penelope.💕

I liked this book, it just felt kind of middle of the road for me. It started out stronger but fell at the wayside in my opinion. The characters were kind of boring to me and I struggled with connecting to them. The plot was okay. I just think that this is a good book and a light read for someone who wants a book that they don't have to focus as much on the world since it is a fantasy, but this is a fantasy set in modern day which actually surprised me.
