So glad to be back in Charming Cove. I fell in love with Linsey Halls A Modern Girls Guide to Magic so I was eager for a follow up. They really are such cosy, happy hits of drama, magic and romance and I loved getting to know some of the new characters and additions to the Charming Cove series.
We follow Emma and her plight to become a permanent member of the coven but first she must prove herself. She takes on the challenge of arranging the annual Beltane Ball, and with a lot at stake, she can’t afford to fail. We have rivalry, friendship, found family and of course the hunky addition of the duke (Alaric, need I say more!) and the whole story was so compelling.
It was super fast paced, really satisfying and I loved the fake dating romance trope and the found family element. I also didn’t think anything could get better than Boris the badger in the first book but wait, hold on… there’s Penelope the Skunk who, in her diamanté bow, completely had my heart. Loved it!
Even though it’s the second in the series, it doesn’t feel essential to have read the first one to get satisfaction and enjoyment out of the second. You’re perfectly introduced to the world and the characters and there was little overlap between the two so they could almost work as standalone but set in the same cute, quaint little village. I would highly recommend reading the first though because it was great.
Hope there will be many more in this series because I love them and could read them all day! I read this is one sitting and I was hooked.

This book is amazing, it moves fast, and it surprises you. There's scheming, I don't even know what too root for, in the power bid, I don't know who to trust and who I should kill of slowly? Damn.

this was a really sweet witchy x vampire romance, i loved the found family and the fake dating. I think the 3rd act conflict was a bit weak and it was a bit too insta love for me, but it was adorable and anyone who likes fake dating and alot of fluff would enjoy this. thank you netgalley for the arc.

I am currently still crying while writing this. This was such a beautiful story that touched my heart deeply. And I'm sorry but Penelope is absolutely hilarious. I love the characters, I love the plot. I just love absolutely everything about this book. I giggled and cried and went through an emotional roller coaster. This book was so entertaining and fluffy and just perfect. I have no words for it. I just adore it. All of it. I started this book at 12:30 AM thinking I'll read a bit before I go to sleep... well it's currently 4:00 AM because I had to finish it. I was hooked from start to finish. I have nothing but praise for this book.
Disclaimer: I did receive this ARC through Netgalley, but all opinions are my own.

What an amazing book. Heartwarming and full of magic. Alaric and Emma make you swoon in they’re not quite there but their romance. This book has everything: witches, vampires, magic, mystery, enchantment, badgers and skunks. A fluffy feel good romance that I couldn’t put down. A great read with page turning romance

I wasn't the hugest fan of the first in the series which made me hesitant to give this one a try. But it's hard to resist the siren call of the fake dating trope and I'm so glad I gave in.
Once again, the familiar (all the love to Penelope the skunk) steals the show but Emma and Alaric were adorable together. And although very instalove, it was fun watching them fight their attraction to one another.
If you're looking for a cozy, magical, low angst rom-com for spooky season, this will be a perfect fit.

The second book in the Charming Cove series. A witch must prove herself to her coven so she agrees to a deal with a vampire duke. She'll pretend to be his gf for his grandmother and he'll let her use his mansion for the Beltane Ball. Except they fall for each other...
It's a funny book. Love the LOL scenes. The characters are interesting and charming. Really enjoy this fun book.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

This was a super cute and quick read! I absolutely loved the first book in the series so I knew I had to read this book! Emma and Alaric were so adorable and I loved seeing their growth. It was also nice getting to see some of the previous characters! The best thing about these books is the Familiars! They are so stinking cute and hilarious! Overall this was a wonderful and cozy paranormal romcom and I loved it!
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

Thanks to Bonnie Doon Press, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily.
This is the second book in the series, and the second one I have read.
Emma's an orphaned witch trying to make a mark for herself in town and Alaric is a Vampire Duke. The story is light and it's a quick read. At times the story felt a bit rushed and I think there was a missed opportunity in making Alaric a vampire but essentially a cream puff. It would have been nice to see a more dangerous side of him, since that's why people generally read vampire romances.
The familiar this time is a skunk, Penelope, and she's pithy.
Although I did enjoy the first book in this series, I found myself skimming parts of this and didn't find it as engaging.
