I really enjoyed this book. It gives you a tour of all the tools on the iPad that you can use to draw. I don't do digital drawing but it's still a great book if you want to learn to draw by hand. It teaches basic drawing concepts like starting with basic shapes and combining them to make images as well as how colors work together. I also like how visual the book is. It has pictures of what is happening in each step which is extremely helpful if you are a visual learner.

After I got the digital version of this book, I purchased a paperback as soon as it was available! I found this book very helpful as a beginner to procreate and I definitely wanted to have a physical copy to refer to. The author takes you through all the basics and every step needed to create the exercises in the book. I've been a fan of the author for awhile and have watched multiple YouTube videos and I always wished that I had the same information in book form to refer back to... and now I do! I love this book and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to make digital art!

This is an excellent guide. Unfortunately, it was archived before I could finish reading it to give it a proper public review. What I saw looked like a great resource.

I'm still going through the book, but am liking it!
I have watched some of the author's videos on YouTube and followed along with the tutorials and found them to be really straightforward.

As someone who doesn't have much (any?) natural artistic skill, never honed whatever skill I had in school, and yet have always desired to be able to draw and paint and create, Lisa's approach really works for me.
I like that I can create an image by following the tutorials, but I'm also learning how to use Procreate so that I can then go and create my own images.

The advice on how to practice and hone skills is really helpful, and is reminder that art is a practice; no one is born knowing how to do it all but it's time and persistence.

Good book for anyone wanting to dive into digital art!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC of the book. All thoughts are my own.

A super detailed guide to digital drawing that covers everything you need to know plus more! As someone who already draws digitally I still found this book had so many tips and tricks that I didn't know about, so it's perfect not only for beginners but for seasoned digital artists too. It's super easy to follow and really well designed so that the information is easy to look up and find again. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone interested in digital drawing as it will be an amazing resource/learning tool.

I love the personal story behind the book. It shows how having a passion for something and chipping away and practicing every day can calm you and refine your skills.
As for the book itself, it is jam packed full of information, tips, tricks and advice. It really blew me away how much you can start with practicing shapes and lines and end up with scenes full of digital art.
Being a newbie to the Apple scene, I used so much of the step by step advice and worked my way up to drawing a few things that I am proud of.
Newbie or advanced artist, you will find so much in the book for you. Definitely one to buy a hard copy of when released.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wonderful how to book on drawing digitally, specifically with Procreate for the iPad. Lisa teaches you all the basics you need if you are beginner - the ins and outs of the Procreate interface and tools, basic drawing fundamentals, color, and a bunch of fun tutorials. This book is a must have reference for anyone wanting to learn how to draw on the iPad and anyone wanting to sharpen their skills!

For a few years, I have been wanting to dive into digital art and learn all the ins and outs of it. For years I haven't due to being intimadated with it. Trying to learn how to draw without quite feeling it, how to learn all the different brushes and figure out all the tiny specifics of it was terrifying! So, when I saw this book I was excited! I eagerly picked it up so I'd hopefully feel more comfortable and having a place to start. This book did exactly that.

While I don't have an iPad or Procreate, I still feel like I have a better understanding of where to start with digital art. The author did such a wonderful job of breaking everything down that I didn't have to question anything (okay a few things but that is on me for needing to see the whole action sometimes). I really appreciated how the brushes used were listed throughout with the continous reminder of where they were.

There were so many tips and tricks that were shared that had me staring at the book for a while because it made so much sense that I couldn't fathom why I had never thought of that before.

Drawing Digitally has so much information in it that I could see it being helpful for beyond beginners. This is a book I have already recommended someone and it might just find itself on my own wishlist so I can go back to reference it as I really start to practice and learn.

If you are interested in learning digital art at all, I highly recommend picking up this one. Even if you don't have access to Procreate.

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lisa Bardot is an established artist and as soon as I saw that she had written a book, I knew I had to read it!
The pages at the beginning of the book highlighting the interface screens of Procreate are incredibly useful.
The drawing exercises are practical and doable for everyone, I enjoyed the ‘shapes into stuff’ section.
Lisa also covers colour theory and show very satisfying projects for the reader to have a go at using their developing Procreate skills.
All kinds of final results are demonstrated in ‘Drawing Digital’ from graphic flowers to fluffy dogs via street scenes and people which gives everyone something to enjoy drawing while learning to use Procreate.
The ‘Build a Character’ game in the people section looks like great fun and I can’t wait to have a go both in my sketchbook and as I learn Procreate.
This is a very comprehensive book about learning Procreate which I can’t wait to use and I know it will be popular with our library patrons as it covers so many drawing and illustrating styles.

As a professional artist I really enjoyed this tutorial in digital illustration. It is very easy to follow and teaches great technique. My only issue is that only a few pages would show up at a time in the reader (perhaps because it’s image heavy?) so this book as a digital copy took me a longer time to get through as I would have to pause and close the app every few pages for them to show due to this technical issue, which affected my follow along and reading fluidity. But the book and content itself is great.

I have had an apple pencil for a few years because I wanted to learn how to draw digitally, but have always felt a little intimidated to start. This book quickly taught me how to use basic shapes and tools to create simple illustrations which helped me get past my analysis paralysis. It includes tutorials that take a few minutes to complete, so it is easy to learn in your spare time. The projects are also fun, which encourages you to keep coming back to learn more. It goes over a lot of the basics, making it accessible for a complete beginner, however if you have experience with design software or traditional drawing, it is easy to skim and read the information most practical for your application. I have always used Adobe products for design, and this book uses Procreate on iPad; most of the tools are similar, but some have slightly different names, so this was a helpful way to translate that information. I would highly recommend this to anyone trying to get started in digital illustration or looking for some inspiration!

I absolutely love this book & it couldn’t be more perfect for me! It’s beautifully done and I cannot wait to order a copy to help me on my journey to understanding how to use Procreate to extend my art making skills into the digital world.
I love how well tools & techniques are broken down and make them easy to understand. The illustrations help me further understand & try the techniques myself! Lisa makes everything feel very doable and inspires me to take her teachings & run with them to see what I can create myself. Thank you for this amazing book! It’s perfect for anyone wanting to get more comfortable learning Procreate.

I saw this book on NetGalley and thought it might help me get more use out of my Apple Pencil and I was correct! The book focuses mainly on the Procreate app, which is great, but I learned a lot of things that will be helpful no matter what software I’m using. There is also a lot of basic art instruction and many fun and super cute drawing exercises. This book would be a great first introduction to digital art and is a great learning tool with some great exercises for any level digital artist.
