OK, I have massive issues with this book, but not in the usual ways I take issues with books. I'll start with saying that in my opinion, there's a simple and straightforward fix to this: Fix the d**m book cover and title. Personally, I cuss a lot, and I can definitely see the audience that this book would really speak to, and find the content helpful (hell, even their partners would probably be thankful for the book). HOWEVER, the problem is that the cover and title of the book do not at all reflect the book's content, or get this book its right audience. When I look at the cover, I see dads of all sorts of different personalities buying it, expecting it to help them with their anxiety about being a first time dad. But I'll dare say that at least 95% of those dads will slam the book shut at the author's mention of where he didn't want his d**k to be in, on one of the first pages, then toss it into the bin, and wondering what the hell were they thinking, and perhaps never want to buy another book for dads again. The title and cover design showed nothing that suggested that crude language that is used throughout the book at all. For the audience that you're targeting, I'll suggest turning this into an audiobook, or to make a podcast out of it, rather than a print book or even an e-book.

Daddy Issues is a fun exploration of the journey to becoming a father from a reluctant standpoint. Tavares explicitly mentions that it is taboo to describe being uneasy or not wanting to become a father but he maturely explains that often times it becomes a necessity and how to handle it. Although I am not exactly the target audience (I would like to have 5 kids), I still found it funny and littered with good tips for handling the pregnancy and first year period as well as mature advice on navigating the evolving relationship with mom.

Overall, I would recommend this short but entertaining read for fathers-to-be whether reluctant or not.
