If I read the poems out loud, I could feel the rhythm and prose that was in it, but my brain couldn’t fathom that there were no comma in the poems, so I mostly had to feel where it made sense to breath.

I’m not entirely sure I liked the words and meaning of the poems either.
It was just not for me.

I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review from netgalley. Honestly it's been a while since I've read any poems but this was a great book to start with. I enjoyed reading this book and got lost in some of the emotions of the poems.

" the only thing more fleeting than beauty is our love for beautiful things "

Cicadas Serenade by Antonio Eramo is a wonderful work of poetry. A lot of these poems spoke to me, from poems about life to relationships and intimacy.

Eramo has a way with words, so I really enjoyed seeing the metaphors they used within their writing. I loved the play on words in poems like “Bucket”, which had multiple meanings when I read them.

My biggest critique would be that I wish the poems were displayed upon the space of the page in different ways. Most poems were centered on the left hand margin of the page, playing with spacing or indentation at times. I noticed some different italics or boldened words/letters. However, I wish there was a lot more play with the page itself and punctuation, etc.

Otherwise, I enjoyed this book!
