'The Wrong Guy' was a lovely, lighthearted read — perfect for when you want something comfy. Set in a quaint little town full of quirky characters, it has all the charm of a Sunday afternoon stroll through the countryside. It is a sort of second-chance romance (Wren and Jesse were friends with benefits first, rather than in a relationship) with sizzling chemistry, but the real charm of the story lies in the cosy and nosy town of Cold Springs.

This is a light and fun read, with its primary goal being to entertain, and it does that beautifully.

Lauren Landish’s The Wrong Guy is a delightful small-town romance that combines humor, heart, and just the right amount of drama. It’s the second book in the Cold Springs series, but it’s definitely worth reading on its own. If you’ve read the first book, you’ll love seeing the familiar characters and setting.

The story follows Wren Ford, a strong and intelligent city attorney in Cold Springs, and Jesse Sullivan, a rugged construction foreman. They used to be friends-with-benefits, but their relationship ended because of insecurities and poor communication. Now, a high-profile divorce threatens the town’s affordable housing project, so Wren and Jesse are forced to work together. This brings back old feelings and challenges their perceptions of each other.

What makes this book so great is the chemistry between Wren and Jesse. Their interactions are steamy and heartfelt, and their journey from miscommunication to mutual understanding is both realistic and satisfying. The town of Cold Springs is also a character in its own right. It’s a close-knit community with its own gossip and camaraderie, which adds depth and charm to the story.

There are a few things that could be improved. The subplot involving Wren’s uncle’s divorce sometimes takes a backseat to the main romance, which can be distracting. Also, the story does rely on some familiar romance tropes, like miscommunication and jealousy, which might feel repetitive to readers who’ve read the genre before.

Overall, The Wrong Guy is a fun and entertaining read. It’s a great choice for fans of small-town romance.

The conflict wasn’t about the relationship for once, which I found extremely refreshing. Instead, once we get past the misunderstanding and see Jesse and Wren settled, they behave like rational adults in a loving relationship. Hooray! And we get to enjoy a story of revenge.

*The Wrong Guy* by Lauren Landish is a steamy, laugh-out-loud romance about two friends with undeniable chemistry who just might be perfect for each other—if they can get past their fears.

Wren Ford is a no-nonsense city attorney with a high-pressure job and a not-so-secret crush on her friends-with-benefits partner, Jesse Sullivan. Jesse, a hardworking and swoon-worthy construction worker, is crazy about Wren but believes he’s not good enough for her. Enter a cocky rival who’s all flash and no heart, and suddenly the stakes are higher than ever.

As Cold Springs becomes the center of a corporate scandal, Wren and Jesse team up to protect their town while navigating their complicated feelings. With the whole community rooting for them, the question isn’t *if* they belong together but *when* they’ll realize it.

Packed with heart, heat, and small-town charm, *The Wrong Guy* is perfect for fans of opposites-attract stories with a side of humor and heart.

Two hard-headed main characters + miscommunication and lack of communication = one heck of a great book! Even though I didn’t read the first book, it was easy to get to know all the characters and dive right into Wren and Jesse’s story. I loved the sassiness of all the characters. I laughed out loud more than once and wanted to smack Jesse and Wren a few times, too. These two were perfect for each other. This is worthy of the 5 stars!

The Wrong Guy is the second book in the Cold Spring series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Wren and Jesse had a friends with benefits situation, but a misunderstanding ended that relationship. And yet, when life kept putting them in each other’s paths, it was obvious they both still had feelings for each other.

I loved how smart, feisty, and strong Wren was. She didn’t back down from any challenge she had to face.

Jesse was obsessed with Wren, and he was very sweet and patient with her.

These two had so much chemistry, and they were so good together.

There was also a lot of drama within the town itself, and it was fun seeing how it all played out.

This one was fun! I hadn't read the first, but I enjoyed this one, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Really appreciated that there was no 3rd act breakup.

This one was cute quick and easy. Wren and Jesse were friends with benefits and ended because of a miscommunication.

Miscommunication tropes isn’t my thing, but I loved Wren, thought their second chance was great and absolutely adored the side characters. The spice was pretty good and I always love and alpha male.

Thank you Montlake, Lauren Landish, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance’s copy of this book in exchange for my review.

I wanted to love this book, but it kinda fell flat for me. Wren and Jesse were a couple you root for and want to be excited about but I felt like Jed and Chrissy overtook the story and the focus wasn’t on Wren and Jesse so much of the time. I was disappointed by this and I really felt like it took away from the true story. That being said, I would be more than happy to give this author another chance!

LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK. Lauren is such a great writer because WOW. This is my first book from her, and I would definitely be getting more. The love story, the banter, everything was top-notch for me. Love them.

This was a fun book that felt a little less like a romance than a story about saving the town of Cold Springs from Jed Ford, again. Because of the focus on the divorce, it gave the plot a unique spin on the friends with benefits trope.

I loved Wren and Jesse. They were both so hung up on each other and their miscommunication led them to doubt they were enough for each other. I loved that both these successful, confident people could be so conflicted about their value. Wren was the city attorney and had made a name for herself in a male-dominated career, but she was under the impression that she was “too much”. While Jesse, who grew up in a blue-collar family and worked a blue collar job, felt like he wasn’t enough. I loved the juxtaposition of that. And I loved their continued support for each other.

There was plenty of humor in this book, I thought the first book had a little more humor, but this was still a great romcom. It was sweet and funny with a good sense of small-town camaraderie. I loved how Jesse and Wren loved each other and how after they resolved the miscommunication they accepted each other and never doubted their feelings. Despite the miscommunication, they communicated very well after they finally got together.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good escape. It kept me interested and was one of those books that just makes you feel good. I loved the ending and thought it was well thought out. Jed finally got what was coming to him and I loved the way the takedown came about!

I received a copy of this for my honest review.

Our FMC and MMC used to be, well, something. But it ended with a miscommunication. It's been over a year and now they become embroiled in a local controversy. A divorce scandal that has the whole town gossiping. Our FMC is the town attorney, and since this divorce now encompasses the construction company set to build new houses for the town, she has to make sure the town is represented. The MMC is the foreman of the construction crew. After a girl's night reveals some true feelings - they finally work through their insecurities. Now working together they have to figure out what the best plan is to keep the construction moving, and protect the town.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Wren and Jesse. They have an instant chemistry. They had been dating but broke up about a year ago. Wren is the town’s lawyer. Jesse is a project manager for a construction company. They start dating again because they only want each other and fall in love.

I’m convinced Lauren Blakely can’t write anything but amazing books! This was so enjoyable. The characters were related and the overall story was chef’s kiss!

JESSE FREAKING SULLIVAN. This man🥵 oh momma. The book starts with them.. you know. So I’m thinking we are going spicy the whole time! Not so much. Communication is not Wren and Jesse’s strong point. They are working on it! Figuring out their relationship with family drama is fun🙃

I really enjoyed this book. Wren is a force! She is strong but I love how Jesse compliments it. The drama was perfect with the story. I thought I was gonna hate Chrissy and Lucy but I was surprised to be cheering for them by the end!
