Omg I loved this so much, however I also loved book one and have been waiting for empire of the dames with bated breath, and it didn’t disappoint.

It's difficult to write a complete review on the sampler as it only provides a portion of the story. However, I enjoyed what I read so far, and I think it's worth waiting for the full book. I am looking forward to reading the entire story once it gets published.

Glorious start to the next chapter of this romp. It has all the qualities of the first instalment and all the dodgy teen longings too, it tells a great story and leaves you wanting to read on past the cliff hanger at the end of this extract. I'll be queuing up to get my hands on the full copy come February. You might want to do the same if you love a good vampire story with heros and villains and a prize worth winning.

This excerpt is so good!
I can't wait to read the full book and finally return to the amazing world Kristoff created.
All the characters are part of my heart and I can't wait to discover more of their stories:
This sequel is absolutely perfect and approved!
Thanks Netgalley and HarperVoyager for this excerpt!

As Empire of the Vampire was one of my favourite reads of 2022, I have been hotly anticipating Kristof's follow-up novel, Empire of the Damned. And after reading this sampler, it is safe to say that I was not disappointed and that the full novel may now be my most anticipated read for 2024.

Starting with a very useful recap of the previous novel, this sample from Empire of the Damned was everything I was hoping for. Full of action and suspense as well as having one of the most interesting characters in Fantasy (that being Gabriel), this book maintained everything I loved about the first novel, whilst further expanding this gritty world and bringing twists and. further developing the characters.

My one criticism (which is unrelated to the quality of the novel), is that this was a sampler, rather than the full novel, as at the time of request this was advertised as the full advanced copy. This was only an issue as I was fully invested in Gabriel's journey, and am not going to enjoy the long wait until March. This desire to keep reading, however, is a testament to Kristof's ability as a writer, and the world he has masterfully crafted in the Empire of the Vampire series.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Harper Collins for providing a sampler of Empire of the Damned.

Gabriel de León has saved the Holy Grail from death, but his chance to end the endless night is lost.

After turning his back on his silversaint brothers once and for all, Gabriel and the Grail set out to learn the truth of how Daysdeath might finally be undone.

But the last silversaint faces peril, within and without. Pursued by children of the Forever King, drawn into wars and webs centuries in the weaving, and ravaged by his own rising bloodlust, Gabriel may not survive to see the truth of the Grail revealed.

A truth that may be too awful for any to imagine.

Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for sending me the exclusive Empire of the Damned Sampler. Having been a huge fan of book one, Empire of the Vampire, I'd been waiting with bated breath for book two and I was not disappointed.

Empire of the Damned begins right after the end of Book one and we are back with Gabriel and the cold blood historian recounting what happened in the battle to save Dior Lachance.

The pages of this book rip along at a roaring pace once again, but even so, the writing is beautiful and almost poetic. Gabriel's internal conflicts to fight against the sanguine, his bloodlust, whilst fighting to save the young Dior are perfectly juxtaposed, with humour and savagery and pure, powerful emotions that have you standing right beside the Last Silversaint.

I won't give away plot, save to say, if you've read the first one, then don't hesitate to get this one.

And if you haven't read the first one - Empire of the Vampire? Then go get yourself a copy right away. You won't regret it!

THANKS A MILLION TIMES NETGALLEY AND PUBLISHER FOR THE AMAZING, ONE OF A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY TO READ AND REVIEW THIS EXCLUSIVE SAMPLER!
It's only one part of the whole story, BUT JUST LIKE THE FIRST BOOK, it leaves you literally CRAVING for more RIGHT THIS INSTANT! Only a small part, but the author managed to melt my heart, then freeze it cold and finally just straight up plucked it out of my chest and ate it in front of my face! NEVER AN AUTHOR MANAGED TO HYPNOTIZE YOU AND PLAY WITH YOUR EMOTIONS like Jay Kristoff did with this amazing novel! IT'S A MASTERPIECE THAT WILL BE REMEMBERED!

I loved EOTV so much I made my husband (who's not a reader) read it and now we both can't wait for EOTD to be released 🖤

I didn't realise when requesting this title that it was just a sampler.

I absolutely love EOTV and cannot wait to dive into more of this book when it is realised next year.

A great start to Empire of the Damned

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS A SAMPLER ONLY.

Empire of the Damned by Jay Kristoff is the second book in the Empire of the Vampire Series.

I usually never read samplers because they always leave you wanting more. And that’s exactly what happened with this one. I absolutely loved Empire of the Vampire, and this is one of my most anticipated books for 2024.

I really appreciated the recap at the beginning of Empire of the Damned and it makes it so much easier to dive right back into this world. In addition, I love that the beautiful illustrations are continued and the handful that were in this sampler were already stunning.

I don’t want to say too much about the plot because I don’t want to spoil anyone, but the glimpse I got from this sampler was captivating and fast paced with the incredible writing of Jay Kristoff.

I’m counting down the days until the end of February when we can finally read this whole masterpiece.

Amazing, but I'm really disappointed that this is a sampler as nowhere stated it was before requesting. Can't wait for the whole thing

I am damned!!!! I am dead!!!! I need more now!!!!! Do I need to say more than daaaaaaaamn!!!!!!

Kristoff has done it again, and with this snippet of what I know will be an absolutely amazing book. I already know that it is going to be a five star read through and through just like the first. Give me this book now my mind needs to know more, or else it will be damned forever.

I am so excited for this book! It was great to read this sampler, it's made me super excited to finally have this book in my hands!

Was I unbelievably excited to see this bad boy on Netgalley? Hell yeah! Was I a bit gutted to learn I'd requested a sampler? Definitely? Do I forgive everyone as Kristoff is a absolutely masterful story-telling God? Yeah, may as well!
Empire of the Vampire is one of my all time favourites, so there's always some nerves going into the sequel of something you love. Thankfully this sampler does not disappoint. It's wonderful to be back in Gabriel De Leon's story. We've still got all those aspects that made EOV such a hit.; Gabriel's dark, dry and incredibly sweary wit. I could read a book of his insults alone. It's dark and gothic, oozing with blood, plot twists and those moments Kristoff loves to torture us with. We got a sneak at some of the stunning art work that accompanies this series. I'm so glad I've got 2 pre-orders for this ready to arrive in a few months. Perhaps I'll tattoo Patience on my knuckles!
Needless to say, I loved the sampler. It's a absolute must for anyone who loves fantasy. I'm also someone who actively avoids Vampire books, which tells you how phenomenal the narrative it! Thank you so much to the publishers and Netgalley for providing the sampler in return for an honest review...and if you'd like to send a full arc for an even longer review, I'd be ever so grateful!

Why the hell was this only a sample? I'm only mad because I love it so much! The world building and characters in this book are bloody brilliant and I can't wait to read the whole book, because this was definitely a teaser that makes me want to get the rest of the story. Also love the cover, it's beautiful and fits the Story so well!

Naturally, I loved this. Unfortunately, this was only a sample, so I cant say anything more than: this is very promising, I am excited about the points of view and I already laughed out loud a couple of times.

Oh you did us dirty by sending only a sampler .. but bloody damn it was good to be back in Mister Kristoff’s writing. From the very first page recap and description of the characters you get a glimpse of the humour and one liners you are going to see throughout the book.

It begins right as it ended in book one and although this was only a sampler it was quite a chunk .. which means the final book is going to be as heavy as Wolfmother’s maul! The whole sample was intense, laced with a sarcastic humour as you find out more about Gabriel de Leon, Dior and feel one step closer to knowing why he is being help captive. The battle scenes were ‘chef kisses’ and the brutality of the vampires was just epic.

Can’t believe you are all making me wait until February now. Harper Collins I see you .. send me an arc please 🙏

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this in advance in exchange for an honest review.

This sampler contains just a few chapters of "Empire of the Damned," but I loved what I read! Not that I had any doubts! I loved "Empire of the Vampire," and more generally Jay Kristoff's books, so I have very high expectations for this sequel! And what little I've seen confirms my hopes! I can't wait for release day! Right now I can say that it was a fantastic and highly satisfying glimpse, which obviously left me wanting to know more!

Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for giving me a sampler of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this was the whole book! It didn’t say it was only a few chapters.
Won’t be reading the excerpt only to be left hanging until February.

So no review from me sorry!
