Naomi and Luca have written to each other since fifth grade. Their pen pal letters were filled with insults and sarcastic sparring. Strangely this turned into some sort of friendship until it dried up. Two years after the last letter Naomi suddenly gets "Hate Mail" at her desk. With no return address to write to, she is determined to find out more about where Luca vanished to by visiting his former addresses. At the same time her handsome upstairs neighbour asks her out to a date.
I really liked the premise. I loved the letters the two sent to each other, yes even knowing they were coming from fifth graders. They both knew it was all fun and games. The plot was predictable, but in a way every romance novel plot is. I liked the banter, as well as the inner conflict Naomi had, she was going out with Jake, while still looking to reconnect with Luca. What I didn't like was that Jake wilfully withheld information.

This book was really fun in the beginning, however the miscommunication and overreaction instead of being absolutely happy at finding her penpal gave me the ick a bit. I know it's part of the story, but I didn't vibe with that part as much as I did with the rest of the book. Apart from that the banter was top tier and the whole idea with the penemies to lovers was very cute.

If you’ve ever dreamed of turning your pen-pal nemesis into your maybe-forever love, buckle up because Hate Mail is a hilarious, slow-burn delight with all the messy, chaotic energy your bookish heart could want.
Naomi and Luca’s dynamic is equal parts snarky and sweet. Picture years of razor-sharp insults turned into the will-they-won’t-they tension of your dreams. These two have been going at it since fifth grade — and honestly? I lived for every petty letter.
We’ve got enemies-to-friends-to-lovers done through actual letters (so retro and romantic, right??). And then — BAM — two years of radio silence after one letter that changed everything. When Luca’s next letter lands on Naomi’s desk out of nowhere? Let the fireworks begin!
This is a book that hits you with equal parts witty banter and angsty pining. It’s enemies-to-lovers perfection but with an epistolary twist. There’s something so intimate about falling for someone through letters — and this story nails it.

Oh my goodness this was a fun read. I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters Naomi and Lucas and enjoyed all the letters. I really loved the back and forward and being mean to eachother. It made me laugh out loud. This just felt fun. There was some romance and no spice and just felt more wholesome. There was some silliness - cats skateboarding but that didn’t matter. I found it really enjoyable and has been a perfect book to read in the sunshine. Thank you for the copy.

This was a light read that I enjoyed during my commute. Certain things I found problematic (and you’ll know what they are when you read it) but overall it was exactly what I needed. And of course we get a HEA, and a very cute epilogue.

It's giving stalker... but in a girlie pop way and I don't know if that is a good thing or not.
I was expecting to love this but it wasn't for me. I did however like the writing style so I'll pick up something from this author in the future.

I had so much fun reading this, like watching a good romcom! It just made me feel good reading it! Lighthearted, entertaining, all round good read!

This was so cute! Definitely read like a debut but I'm so excited to see how the authors writing matures.
I had a few small issues that are maybe a more personal choice than actual issues like I didn't appreciate how the "crazy ex" plotline came about and there were a few pacing and time jump issues but for the most part this was such a fun and cute yet very predictable read but I feel like we were supposed to know the big twist going in so that didn't really dissuade me from enjoying the story.

This was a cute and fun read. I wasn't really connected to the plot or the characters but if you just want to pick up a book that's a straight up good time this is the one for you.

I had fun with this one. I can’t wait to see what else the author comes out with in the future. I can see myself definitely picking up more books by them.

A quick, fun, easy read . It was a bit predictable but I feel it would make a good holiday read. The letters between Naomi and Luca had me laughing

This was a fun read. It made laugh, it made soon, made me question my sanity 😂😂😂, but I had a great time reading it. It was also a heartfelt book, that makes wish everything's works out in the end

Is it the best romance book I've read? No. Did I have fun reading it? Absolutely. It was predictable, but I had a fun time, and enjoyed the plot, characters, and romance in this one.

A great super fun quick read! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I had requested this book on Netgalley some time ago, but because I ended up DNFing the book I didn't leave a full review. I honestly don't think anyone would enjoy this book and for me it rates at a solid 1 star. It was an easy DNF and I won't be trying again in the future.

I absolutely adored this book. If you are looking for a good easy read with excitement, suspense and chemistry, then this is it. I really liked Luca and Naomi and felt like I connected with their characters. Luca’s treatment of Naomi at the start was frustrating but as we move through the story, it all starts to make sense. I don’t think this novel is anything ground breaking, possibly slightly predictable but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I found this book to be a fun read that spans several years, documenting the correspondence between two pen pals, Natalie and Lucas, who have been writing to each other since fifth grade. The letters made me laugh, especially as they reflected how both characters changed as they grew older. While I did find some parts of the story to be obvious and figured them out right away, I didn’t feel this detracted from my enjoyment of the book.

An enemies-to-lovers AND epistolary romance?!? Sign me up! HATE MAIL by Donna Marchetti was so fun and highly engrossing -- one of the best romances I've read this year for sure!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to be able to read and review this book!
4/5

Very simple rom com. A cute read. The banter back and forth between the two characters were fun. But a simple read.
