This is the first in what I believe to be a new series of books from James Patterson and it introduces us to three private investigators, Holmes, Marple & Poe who work in New York City.
First and foremost you have to take a lighthearted approach to this book as it is rather far fetched and quite unbelievable, but having said that it is also a quick enjoyable read with flawed characters who I am sure we will find out more about in the coming books.
I will definitely read the next book to fill some nagging questions that I hope to find the answers to.

What a great read this was, an interesting twist on a detective story with the 3 private detectives named Marple, Holmes and Poe ( or are they?!) setting up a new agency in New York.

One of their first cases is to find out what happened to a girl who disappeared from the bakery that is now their home and offices, using their individual methods and unusual techniques to get to the truths they seek. Over the course of the book the detectives take in several cases, sometimes resorting to not so orthodox methods.

They do, quite quickly, become well rounded and charismatic characters and as a reader I was interested to learn more about them and what made them who they are. I hope that there will be more books with them featuring as I am sure they have many more tales to tell.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

You have to give it to him, James Patterson knows how to write a book, and this is once again a home run!

I picked this up on a cold Sunday morning and I could not put it down at all! Have fun with this, you will enjoy every moment!

This was a fun read that left me with a lot of questions about our three main protagonists Brandon Homes, August Poe, and Margaret Marple. Who are they really and what is their backstory? They seem to have appeared out of thin air.  They have their unique ways of solving cases but especially Poe and Holmes have their own demons to deal with.

When a series of baffling crimes occur simultaneously the three brilliant minds must combine their unique skills to unravel the complex mysteries.

I did find it a bit disjointed at times. Some storylines ended very abruptly and some could have been left out because it didn't add value in my opinion.

With that said I still enjoyed the story and would like to see where it goes from here.

If you like a mystery novel especially one that combines three of literature's most iconic characters in a  suspenseful adventure, this is a book that you will enjoy.

I was disappointed with this one, I felt it was a bit disjointed and left more questions than answers and I am still a bit confused, it was not as good as I expected

I love any books from James Patterson and this one didn’t disappoint. I loved the idea of investigators named Poe, Marple and Holmes in New York! They build a relationship with the police that enables them to keep helping to solve murders and art thefts! A book you will want to finish in one go!

Holmes, Margaret and Poe
by James Patterson

I feel bad about giving such a low rating to this, but I just found it to be clichéd and heavily reliant on well trotted out tropes, with cartoon characters, slapstick humour and a distinct lack of literary flair. I'm clearly not the target audience. This was my first James Patterson.

Holmes Margaret and Poe by James Patterson is a 3.5 ⭐️ read.
I’m usually a huge Hames Patterson fan but this book just didn’t grip my attention the way his other books have, I’m not saying it was bad just not to my taste.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book through Netgalley

A new crime fighting team Holmes, Marple and Poe turn up in New York shrouded in mystery, can they live up to their namesake's. A good first installment Holmes, Marple and Poe solve a series of crime. Good pacing and characters. I am interested to see how these characters develop. I received this book from Random House UK/ Cornerstone and Netgalley for a review.

‘“Holmes, Marple, and Poe Investigations,” he said. He flicked a business card from his wallet with the flair of an illusionist. Samantha took it. “Holmes, Marple, and Poe?” she said. “Is that a joke?”’

My thanks to Random House U.K. Cornerstone/Century for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘Holmes, Margaret and Poe’ by James Patterson and Brian Sitts. Its alternative title is ‘Holmes, Marple and Poe’, which feels more appropriate given that the three are co-equal partners.

Brendan Holmes, Margaret Marple and Auguste Poe have opened a private investigation agency in New York City. They quickly make a reputation for themselves by solving a series of seemingly impossible crimes including a priceless art theft, a high-stakes kidnapping, and a decades-old unsolved murder.

While they have an ally in Detective Lieutenant Helena Grey, other members of the NYPD and the FBI aren’t so keen. Added to the mix is Virginia, their resourceful PA, Annabel, a rescue cat and Baskerville, a rescue dog, along with plenty of references to their namesakes and associated stories.

There’s plenty of baddies as well along with questions about the true identities of the three detectives, which are shrouded in mystery.

Overall, I found ‘Holmes, Margaret (Marple) and Poe’, an entertaining crime thriller with plenty of action and twists. Its short chapters kept the pacing tight.

I feel that Patterson and Sitts make a good writing team and rather hope that this is further developed as a series.

I didn't really enjoy this book. The plot was fragmented and I did not really take to the 3 investigators. I have read other books by James Patterson and found them OK, this one not so much , too many different cases, some too contrived and although the chapters are short, it felt like a chore to read.
Sorry, not for me, though will look out for more by this author. THanks to NET galley for the ARC

Received arc from random house UK and Netgalley for honest read and review ,this review is my own personal experience.
I am a fan of James.Patterson and this was no different with this book.
Three brilliant and slightly cookie detectives set up a Private Investigations company.
This is their story.
They help(or hinder) Helene Gray in her job as a cop and this makes.for an interesting story throughout the book.
This book was a lot of fun, and the charities on the traits of their namesakes, which was very interesting.
A good read and.hopefully not the last.

I read this book in less than a day and absolutely loved it. The characters were perfect and the way the story wove between the different cases was excellent.

This book reminded me a lot of the original mysteries - with a bit more on page violence as I would expect from a James Patrerson collaboration. Also I was reminded of TV shows like Elementary and Perception.

Overall a perfect quick read with short chapters and interesting characters. I'm hoping there will be more from Holmes, Marple and Poe in the future.

This is such a fun, romp of a read. Three PI’s named…you’ve guessed it, Holmes, Marple and Po, establish themselves in New York and start to solve an art theft and kidnapping.

The writing is everything you expect from James Patterson; tight storyline, gripping short chapters and twists galore.

If you’re looking for an easy, escapist read, look no further.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for the opportunity to preview.

This is unbelievably my first ever James Patterson book. I don't know why I haven't picked one up before.
I loved the different points of views in the chapters and also that the chapters are short.
This is a fast paced, multiple case mystery thriller.
Really enjoyed finding out a little bit about the main characters as you read on.
Overall an interesting read, thoroughly enjoyed it.

4.5⭐

James Patterson teams up with Brian Sitts to deliver a new series featuring three Private Investigators Brendan Holmes, Margaret Marple and Auguste Poe. Who you wouldn't necessarily put together.

But together they make a formidable team and even though they are all very different like their namesakes literary icons Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple and author Edgar Allan Poe these guys can think out of the box. And are full of unorthodox methods and skills.

And after a successful case sees them annoy the police commissioner and garner press attention. The mayor secretly sends NYPD Homicide detective lieutenant Helene Grey to request that they personally deal with one of New York's wealthiest residents. When billionaire Huntley Bain has some precious art stolen in impossible fashion.

But they quickly find they have more than one case to deal with. As the trio receives a call about a potential kidnapping and Helene returns asking for help when skeletal remains are found in an abandoned subway station.

And whilst Detective Grey is keen to see what these three come up with after impressing her with their first public case. She's also keen to learn more about them particularly as the trio are rather intriguing characters. With backgrounds as elusive as the people they hunt for a living.

And with James Patterson's signature short chapters, really likable characters. Not to mention plenty of banter, mystery, and action as the story reaches its conclusion. Holmes, Margaret and Poe was a really entertaining mystery. That reminded me of multiple episodes of Castle all combined together to make one memorable read, and I would happily recommend it to all.

My thanks to Random House UK and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy of Holmes, Margaret and Poe. 😊

I'm usually a huge fan of James Patterson. But this just didn't grab me like I thought it would. Maybe because it's the first book in the series they tried to cram too much in. I know other's have loved it but sorry not for me.

Brendan Holmes, Margaret Marple and Auguste Poe run the most in-demand private investigation agency in New York City.

The three detectives make a formidable team, solving a series of seemingly impossible crimes which expose the dark underbelly of the city - from a priceless art theft, high-stakes kidnapping and a decades-old unsolved murder, to a gruesome subterranean prison and corruption and bribery at the highest levels of power.

But it's not long before their headline-grabbing breakthroughs, unconventional methods - and untraceable pasts - attract the attention of the NYPD and the FBI.

After all, it's no surprise that there's a mystery or two to unravel in the city that never sleeps . . . not least, who really are Holmes, Margaret and Poe.

I loved this latest offering from Patterson. Holmes, Marple and Poe are a quirky, intelligent and entertaining trio to get to know. I really enjoyed getting to know them, seeing the links to their literary counterparts and wondering what the truth of them really is.
On a positive side, I really hope this is the start of a new series. The characters were brilliant and the plot offered promise. However, I did think there were far too many plot threads throughout this and as a result, time could not be dedicated to all of them and some felt rushed, some were only given a couple of pages in the whole book. I think it was done to allow for all of the detectives individual talents to shine through but I hope it does not continue as 1 possibly 2 strong plot threads would have been more than enough.
This is in Patterson's usual style with short, punchy chapters and an electric plot. These characters are brilliant and I hope for more from them.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for an advance copy.

I have read the odd Patterson book before and enjoyed them. When I saw this one I knew it was one I wanted to read, I mean having three characters named after some of classic literature's famous names, who would not want to give it a go?

Brendan Holmes, Margaret Marple and Auguste Poe. As the synopsis shows, they are unique in their own field of enquiry. They are also a fun bunch to get to know. There are some quirks and traits that you will recognise and these add to the charm of the characters.

With one case being solved and put in the spotlight, although well-staged, they now appear to have made a name for themselves and the cases are starting to come in. They do have a Detective that comes to their side and they soon find themselves in need of someone to organise them and their office.

With missing art, remains and other intriguing mysteries to solve they have their work cut out, not only keeping their reputation going but also keeping one another on the straight and narrow!

This was a really fun book to read, while I did think it was going to be a crime thriller, it is also quite a quick read and I really enjoyed it. It didn't feel like it was a serious crime thriller but it was definitely entertaining and would suit readers who don't like their crime and mystery books to be too bloody or gory.

The chemistry between the characters is good, they each have their own characteristics and they have their own sense of purpose as well as being part of a team. I would like to see more of these characters so it will be interesting to see if this does indeed become a series.

Ideal for fans of crime and mystery books and one that I would definitely recommend.
