An stranger creature shows on Winter Holidays, an scary one, but that thing does whatever it does to change the mind of citizens in the town, to see at that as someone normal and a good entity.
Well it was fun and a bit of fun. So not a bad score at all.

THIS BOOK WAS SO CUTE AND FUN! I will 100% be buying as a late Christmas gift to my niece and her parents to enjoy!
Have you ever seen the Richard Gere Mothman movie? (I did; loved it.) This is not that except that it involves a Mothman. Here we are invited on a journey with a very non-scary Mothman who takes flight when there’s fog and no Rudolph. A fun and imaginative tale.
I enjoyed it!
Many thanks to the publisher.
Mothman's Merry Cryptid Christmas is an absolute delight for fans of the enigmatic Mothman, and it sprinkles a hefty dose of holiday magic into the mix! This festive masterpiece combines the charm of everyone's favorite cryptid with the joyous spirit of Christmas, creating a whimsical and heartwarming experience. From Mothman's elegantly wrapped presents to his legendary wings donning twinkling lights, the attention to detail is as impeccable as the cheer it brings. The storyline is a perfect blend of mystery and merriment, leaving you with a grin as wide as Mothman's wingspan. It's a holiday treat that will have you believing in the magic of both cryptids and Christmas, making it a must-watch for Mothman enthusiasts and festive spirits alike!
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own opinions.
I have just read this greatest Chrismas related thing thing that I have been exposed to in years. I'm not exaggerating, Mothman brought me immense joy and that is not natural for me this time of year.
Please keep writing books like this. They are needed
Super cute quick read about my favorite cryptid.
*Digital review copy provided by NetGalley & the publisher*
This was cute and well illustrated, it was just too short. It would have been more satisfying as a longer book. Otherwise I liked it. Maybe Mothman's backstory and some details of his life. How does he even know Santa? There's no character development which left me wanting more.
This was so cute! I love that Mothman is being introduced to children! And Motman is the hero not the villain! absolutely adorable!
Thank you, Net Galley for this e-arc
Super cute cryptiod Christmas book! It’s a retelling of how Rudolf saves Christmas but instead of a reindeer, it’s Mothman. The illustrations are adorable and it’s good fun.
I loved this book and the author is right about trying to sing it to the tune of Rouldolf the Red Nose Reindeer. its not possible but some parts you can. I am a lover of cryptids. The mothman has always been my favorite. Cute story and a very fun read. Loves the illustrations also.
I received a free copy of the book and is voluntarily writing a review
The variant on "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" you didn't know you needed. Here, Santa is in a fix, and calls on his cryptid companion Mothman to try and save the day. Well, when you already have wings, and your eyes light up like Rudolph's nose, what better choice is there? The only issue is everybody dislikes Mothman, and accuses him of anything nasty and unfortunate that happens. Why would he stick his mothy head above the parapet and do a stint delivering presents?
There's not much here to rave about – the message of being bold and being yourself is there, but countless other books do it better. The verse narrative tries to stick to the original song without getting stung for being a rip-off, and probably achieves as much as it could do, while the visuals also seem reliant on public domain material to some extent. It's fine, but as my opening sarcasm implied, nobody really needs this. It's entertaining, should you stumble upon a copy, but wishing for a seasonal delivery of it didn't come across to me as a top priority. Three and a half stars.
I'm gearing up for fun holiday times with some festive reading choices. So when I saw this available on NetGalley -- I absolutely needed to have it in my life IMMEDIATELY! If you know me, you know how much I love all kinds of cryptids and conspiracies, and of all the cryptids I have read about, Mothman is one of my favorites.
This story reads as a homage to the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer, of course, starring Mothman in the titular role, where he leads Santa through the night on Christmas. With Mothman's accident-prone behavior (a bridge fell down, but it wasn't his fault), he worries if he will be able to handle such a big role. After some advice from his friend Bigfoot, Mothman decides to go for it and leads Santa's sleigh successfully.
This story was adorable, and had such cute artwork. I definitely recommend for all the cryptid lovin' kiddos out there...and I totally want to buy this for my nephews.
Mothman believes himself to be bad luck it seems everywhere he goes bad things happen so when Santa is in need of his help he worries he may ruin Christmas. Will moth man ruined Christmas earth be the Cryptid that saved it… I mean Santa can’t be wrong right? This is such an adorable book in one I know my husband will enjoy as he is a humongous Cryptid fan and Mothman being his favorite. I want to thank the author the publisher and NetGalley for the sfun free ark please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
I just think this was not for me. I found this more creepy and not for children. I also didn’t get in the Christmasy mood either.
My kids got the biggest giggle when reading this to a familiar Christmas tune. Is it overtly Christmas? Irreverently so!
My thanks to Net Galley and 8th Circle Press for the temporary copy to review.
So… It's not going to be on my Christmas-y book list I guess. This book, though it has gotten a cute message in the end, wasn't for me. (It didn't put me in the Christmas mood to be honest.)
I really didn't like the style of both the illustrations and the writing.
It's still funny though, and will definitely please the young readers—especially if their parents sing the text instead of just reading it!
My thanks go to Net Galley and 8th Circle Press for the review copy. This book is for sale now.
When I saw the cover of this children’s book, I thought it had strong possibilities. It’s original, and I thought it was conceptually strong, so I read it. Having done so, I have come away underwhelmed.
For a book like this, a takeoff on Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, two things are important. We need resonant, bold, eye-catching artwork to engage the little person that is reading it, or to whom it is being read, and we need a regular cadence. We’re supposed to be singing this book to the same tune as the song, and while the text certainly rhymes, it’s nowhere near in pocket. It’s awkward as hell, actually. Get out your metronome and try it, I dare you.
And as for the artwork, it can best be described as minimalist. When I saw Mothman on the cover, I was thrilled. Kids would love it, I thought. But that’s basically what’s on every single page. Mothman, plus a small amount of unengaging other stuff. There’s no bold artwork at all, and very little art of any kind. The illustration of our protagonist is the entire show, over and over.
I’ve since learned that this is a series. I haven’t seen any of the other books, but I’m going to guess they are more of the same. In fact, if I continue writing much longer, I will talk myself into dropping the rating to 2.5 stars instead of 3.
It feels lazy to me; it didn’t come close to meeting my expectations. When I took the galley, I thought that if this book was as good as I hoped it might be, I would purchase a copy of it for my grandsons. I’m not going to do that now, and if I won’t, I cannot recommend you buy it either.
Love this. I sang the song to my nieces and nephews who like spooky stuff. It is an homage to the occult. Highly recommend to all the cool aunts and uncles out there. This is a good xmas gift.
If you're looking for a funny, offbeat, Christmas book, look no further Mothman's Merry Cryptid Christmas. It's a charming take on a well known Xmas tale.
4 stars - Great! Might re-read
This was SO fun!! Great artwork, simple story with fun cryptid facts. Looking forward to the sequel already!!
