This was very cute. Will be gifting this to my nephew for Christmas. He loves monsters and Halloween so much plus what kid doesn't love Christmas and this has both?!? He will love it.
If you know me, you know I LOVE Mothman, and cryptids in general.
I'm honestly not sure if children are into cryptids these days but this was funny and adorable. A great alternative to traditional Christmas books.
The art is awesome, the words are simple, with funny commentary and notes for the parents.
Absolutely loved this take on Mothman! Wonderful illustrations and the humor was perfect. Good lesson from Bigfoot, "If you don't believe in yourself, why should anybody else?"
I would not normally read Christmas before Halloween, but I couldn't resist here! Poor Mothman has such a bad reputation, and for what?! So let's see how he can come to Santa's rescue when Rudolph is on vacation. Maybe he will start to bring good luck and become associated with good things?? Just believe in yourself, MOTHMAN!
Super quick with a cute premise and some fun artwork. I chuckled and smiled the whole way through this lighthearted story. And now I can't stop singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" but I am subbing in lyrics from Mothman.
This is cute and should be on every horror lover's nightstand and coffee table for the holidays!
I loved this. Simple as that. It is a very cute and funny retelling of Rudolph. Mothman is Rudolph. This is everything I’d want and more. The art is cute as well. I would read this to my child at the holidays.

Sometimes Rudolph needs time off, even during peak season. So, you might be wondering who would be asked to take his place then, right? Well, Mothman, of course! He may not have a glowing red nose, but he has glowing red eyes that will do the trick. Mothman eats sweaters, but he never pays full price. Instead, he buys them from Goodwill, because he's thrifty like that. This story was so cute and funny! I recommend it to anyone who has kids, and as the description says, perfect size for a stocking stuffer!
As Mothman's biggest fan (bold statement, I know) I absolutely loved this book & I'm glad the townsfolk are finally seeing him for who he truly is! What an adorable holiday story that will immediately become a classic & a tradition in this house. The story is so cute (I couldn't help but sing it in my head, despite what the book tells me ha) & the art style is so fun & perfect for Mothman. I am already planning to buy a copy to keep in our house (& maybe a few extra as gifts for friends).
This is a short and sweet Christmas story. I loved the other cryptids included, the light sense of humor, and the tone of warmth that swept through the story. I think this is a great choice for anyone looking for a picture book that's a little off-beat, and not the typical Christmas story.
Mothman’s Merry Cryptid Christmas, sung to the vague tune of Rudolph the RedNosed Reindeer, is a Christmas book for all of us spooky season lovers! The book was wicked cute with sweet illustrations and a fun take on the classic holiday story!
Absolutely adorable!! My little family adores the moth man so this was such a hit. The illustration was so good and the story line was so cute and fun. We Will absolutely be buying a copy of this book once it is released. SO GOOD
Mothman's Merry Cryptid Christmas is a one-trick pony and the trick isn't very impressive.

Andrew Shaffer offers a delightful children’s story that kids of all ages will love with “Mothman’s Merry Cryptid Christmas.”
Just a short story with simple but adorable illustrations and clever rhymes, it tells the story of how Santa Claus asks the “least famous cryptid of all” — Mothman — to help him on Christmas Eve. Mothman turns to his friend for advice, eventually deciding to overcome his insecurities to help out Santa.
“Mothman’s Merry Cryptid Christmas” is a sweet little story that also shows the importance of overcoming negativity and finding confidence, and the power of friendship. It also provides a brief history of the Mothman legend and contains a reading guide for parents, teachers and librarians at the book’s end.
Shaffer’s story, due out Nov. 14, is sure to becoming a family favorite.
Five stars out of five.

A very cute cryptid Christmas! Such a sweet little book that plays on the Rudolph story, but with Mothman.
How cute is this book!!! Adorable illustrations. I loved this book from the rhyming to teaching words to the humor. This is great!
Mothman thought by the villagers to be a bad omen ends up helping Sansa at Christmas after Rudolph takes a vacation.
The story reads in the tune that “Rudolph the red nose raindeer” is sang in, it made for a super cute and entertaining read that I’m sure plenty of children will have fun singing the words in the same tune.
The little illustrations are super adorable with mothman in his Santa hat and a cameo from Bigfoot and Rudolph himself.
The writing was light and had a good flow to it. It rhymed well throughout and told a good story. There were different levels of word difficulty so it can grow with the child.
The font was easy to read and was in blocks on each page. The lines were all different lengths and varied in number on each page. Despite this the flow was good.
The text was generally white and yellow, but if it was on a white background then it was black and green. Random words were yellow and green. I'm not sure of the significance of this, but if nothing else it was interesting. The background was often a block of colour with illustrations around it.
The illustrations were quite abstract in places, but as an adult I enjoyed them. They were bold and had details in them so that each time you looked at them you could see something new.
Overall an interesting book with a good flow. Suitable for a wide age range.

This is such an adorable book, I immediately had to pre-order it for my nephew.
After being linked to disasters & badluck all his life, Mothman is approached by Santa. Someone decided to give Rudolph Christmas Eve off and Santa wanted to use Mothman's red eyes to cover for him. Mothman decides to go and helps Santa without any disasters!
This was a delightful little creepy holiday book perfect for kids and adults alike. Poor Mothman has been getting a bad rap as a bad luck omen causing mayhem and misfortune in West Virginia, so when Rudolph takes a vacation Santa asks the misunderstood cryptid to step in and guide his sleigh on Christmas Eve. It's a fun and quirky little book with charming illustrations, and if you try to sing it along with the famous copyrighted tune it's good for extra laughs. There's some interesting info at the back for parents and teachers as well. If you're looking for a cute and unusual stocking stuffer or a fun and tiny holiday gift, this original little book is a great choice.

I knew I was in for a treat with this and it didn’t disappoint! Such a unique and playful way to show children cryptids with Christmas cheer and how sweet and LOVABLE they can be. Very very cute!
This was an interesting take on the classic Rudolph story. It didn’t quite follow along with the song, but it was cute and original, and it rhymed. I did find it a little unusual for a Christmas story. Younger kids may find it a bit scary or unsettling, but older kids will probably like it. It’s quirky and funny. There are also a few questions and answers at the end that help clarify a bit of the story and the myth behind the Mothman. I appreciated this clarification. The illustrations were nice but not my favorite. Overall, it was just okay for me.
