3.5. Interesting sample of the book! My opinion is based on a very limited sample but I quite liked where the book was going.

Kerri Maniscalco’s work is always quite hit and miss for me. I really enjoyed the first instalment of the Kingdom series, but the second books foray into spicier aspects felt like a confusing shift in genre.

This book feels like it’s going to be relying on “vibes” rather than actually good story telling. From the portion i was given to review, it reads like a supernatural Bridgerton novel, except the more erotic elements seem to be shoved in your face, especially considering the period setting.

i am curious to see what happens with Envy and Camilla though

There's nothing Kerri Maniscalco writes that I don't like. This book is no exception!

A twisted game, the unexpected twists, the growing tension and the angst, this book is absolute perfection.

Prince of Envy receives a cryptic note signaling the beginning of a deadly game that might cost him everything including his demon court. Camilla Antonius makes a mistake that might bring her to ruin. To avoid such a scandal, she makes a bargain with Envy, one that will unlock a side of her she didn’t know existed, while travelling through the underworld. But can they survive the game and not lose their hearts to each other in the process?

The tension between Envy and Camilla is insane! It really is from enemies to lovers done in an absolutely beautiful way. As they are forced to work together after their bargain, it was a treat to see their relationship develop. Their constant bickering and challenging was like watching a tennis match, but it also made it obvious that these two are the perfect pair. It was also great to get to know Envy a bit more, considering his short appearances in the previous books.

These are very complex characters, with their secrets and dark pasts. They progressively warm out to each other, but not in the traditional way. Reading about Envy’s heart skipping a beat when Camilla makes him canolli? Oh, my heart.

I was already introduced to this world before, but Maniscalco presents new sides of it, giving it even more depth. Vampires, fae, demons and so many other species are introduced in this book, it was great and unexpected. Loved it!

Perfection right here. Loved this book, can’t wait for the next one that, by the looks of the end, is Pride’s turn to have an adventure!

A huge thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this sample. I was so excited to re-enter hell and see the chaos that Prince Envy was causing, and this sneak peek at the book absolutely did not disappoint/led me to pre-ordering the book! The idea of the game made for an intriguing plot line and I can’t wait to see how Envy and Camilla’s story comes together.

An intriguing sample that has had me ordering the books. Shaping up too be as excellent as the author's other titles.

Throne of the Fallen is the first book in a new story by Kerri Maniscalco set in the same world as the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy. This time our main hero is Envy, brother to Wrath from KOTW and another prince of hell. A curse has hit his court meaning it is slowly declining. Through a set of clues, Envy is set of solving this curse to restore his strength and his court.
Camilla is our heroine. She’s a highly talented artist who works in her father’s gallery following her mother’s abandonment and fathers ill health and death. After painting something rather risqué and damaging to her social status, a young Lord begins blackmailing her into painting forgeries and generally being sleazy and horrible to her as a way of exercising control over her. She appears very headstrong and independent but no matter how much independence she holds, society is always pushing its expectations and rules on her.
The two meet when Envy tries to commission a piece from her under the name Lord Synton Ashford. A rather ironic fake name for a prince of hell. He is immediately shut down and is left dumbstruck by Camilla’s rejection.
The sample left me wanting more and I really look forward to the whole book being released. Seeing teasers of the other princes in the KOTW trilogy led to more excitement for Maniscalco’s new book. I look forward to its release!
Thank you for the sample!

I don't think I even needed the sampler to know this was going to be a 5 star read but there you go. Ended up waiting until the day before release so I could jump straight into the full book - the sampler was good but the book was incredible.

I absolutely devoured this sample. A wicked prince of Envy set on unravelling a twisted game meets a headstrong but down-on-her luck artist who just might be the key to it all. Camilla feels like a mature, level-headed protagonist, which I always look for in my books because juvenile POV characters enrage me. The plot is incredibly engaging and kept me turning the pages.
I enjoyed the first book in Maniscalco's previous series but felt like the series declined and I didn't read the third. I'm so glad this seems to be a return to form, and I am going to pick up the full book ASAP!

I was given an ARC sample of this book in exchange for a honest review.

This is an Adult Romantasy book with plenty of Spice.
Having read kingdom of the wicked trilogy at the start of this year I was intrigued by a spin off about Envy who I felt deserved more time in the books. I think if I read this closer to reading the other books I would have rated this higher, so I will re-read this in time after a re-read of the others.

(I'd like to state all the brothers deserve their own story after this as it's really fun to see what it's like in each of their heads).

It starts of slow but once you get into the story it picks up. This book is about Envy trying to save his court which leads him to the other character Camilla in the human world. There is mystery, intrigue and romance. (All the good things you can want in a book). Camilla I'd say I much prefer as a character than Envy and I loved reading about her, Envy was okay.

If you're looking for a book with mystery, fantasy, romance and lots of spice this could be the book for you.

I think I will need to pick up a copy of this so I can see how it ends. I have see people who read the full book rating it very highly so you may see an edit here in the future.

This has left me with wanting more of this book! The first pages have been very tense and angsty. After reading this excerpt, I have bought the book right away, I don´t know what awaits me for the rest of the book, but I need to know what comes next.

My fault for not reading the description carefully, because I only got 5 chapters and now I can't wait to see more things unfold. These 5 chapters successfully make me want to continue the rest of the book as soon as possible!
