The premise of this book is a bit far-fetched. It gets dark and complicated quite quickly. The twists are predictable and the characters are unlikeable yet I kept on reading until the unrealistic end. It was entertaining in a wild and twisty way.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for an advanced copy in exchange for my review.

Disturbingly good is what I would say to describe this book. I wasn’t sure what on earth was going to happen next! It had me hooked but I can’t say I liked all of the characters- there was an eclectic mix for sure. A good read all in all.

Ok - this was different! Not the kind of book I would normally read but it had lots of interesting strands.

Te plot was rather complex and I found much of it a bit strange. I do give the author a lot of credit because despite that I found myself turning pages to find out more.

One aspect that was worth highlighting was the lasting effect of the various types of abuse in families. I could not relate to any of the main male characters at all.

The outcome was unrealistic but much of the plot had the same failing. Unless of course I have led too sheltered a life.

In conclusion I am glad I read the book. It opened my eyes to being more receptive to reading a wider range of book genres.

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC copy of The Switch by Lily Samson. This was the first book I have read by the author. I was quite intrigued because I couldn't understand why couples do this. Once I started reading the story about Adam and Elena, a seemingly happily married couple, my interest was fascinated when Elena met Sophia, who pursuades Elena to switch couples without their partners knowing. Soon everything starts spiralling downhill. An intriguing and bizarre story follows.

Wow wow wow!! I love this book! This is right up my street. There's a bit of romance, a bit of mystery and a lot of tension. It would make a great holiday read and if you are in a reading slump this book will get you out of it. I liked the characters, then I disliked the characters, then I sympathised with the characters, this book takes you on a journey.

Well done to the author. I thought it was fab.

Thank you to netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book for an unbiased review.

Buckle up, readers, because Lily Samson's "The Switch" takes you on a wild ride through the posh streets of Wimbledon, where housesitting turns into a twisted game of passion, secrets, and more surprises than a magician's hat.

Meet Elena and Adam, the unsuspecting housesitters who stumble into the lap of luxury in Wimbledon. But what's a posh neighborhood without a couple of mysterious neighbors? Enter Sophia and Finn, the enigmatic duo with a proposition that's steamier than a cup of English breakfast tea.

The game is simple, or so it seems – a partner swap that kicks off a sensual awakening for Elena. But hold on to your hats because Samson's plot isn't just a romantic dalliance. No, no, no! Sophia's plans are as complex and dangerous as trying to fold a fitted sheet without watching a YouTube tutorial.

As Elena dives into this game of romantic roulette, she finds herself entangled in a web of passion, intrigue, and more unexpected twists than a soap opera. Who knew Wimbledon could be so scandalous?

"The Switch" is a tantalizing page-turner that combines the thrill of a suspense novel with the sizzle of a steamy romance. Samson keeps you guessing until the very end, and just when you think you've got it all figured out, she throws in a curveball that'll leave you reeling.

If you're a fan of love triangles, clandestine affairs, and plots that are juicier than a ripe peach, then "The Switch" is your literary playground. Lily Samson has crafted a story that's as entertaining as it is unpredictable, and trust me, you won't want to put it down. So, grab a glass of wine, find a cozy spot, and prepare for a rollercoaster of passion, suspense, and the unexpected. Cheers to "The Switch" – where love is a game, and the stakes are higher than Centre Court at Wimbledon!

The Switch starts as a real page-turner. I love thrillers with short chapters that you can really sink your teeth into, and this is one of them.

Unfortunately, I quickly lost interest as the plot progressed. The plot twist is frustratingly far-fetched and the ending was incredibly disappointing. There are also some sloppy mistakes, for eg. the main character admits early on that she never passed her driving test due to her low-income upbringing, then she somehow hires a car to drive herself from central London to Cornwall.

Although there was suspense, the 'twists' were predictable and by no means "twisted" or "dangerous" as described. This is a very tame thriller – albeit with some very taboo and problematic subjects – that reminds me a lot of Colleen Hoover.

I really enjoyed this book, it had me hooked from very early on.
It was a crazy story line with a lot of twists and turns. I couldn’t take a side as I didn’t know who to believe or what was coming next.

I’d be interested to see what happens to the characters as time went on after the story finished.

The story follows Elena and Sophia who decide to do a ‘switch’ and sleep with each others partners without them knowing. However Sophia and Finn her partner have an interesting back story. I can’t say much more without giving spoilers!

I give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This is a twisted tale that was so interesting to read. I loved all the small parts of the story and how they connected as you read more. A thrilling book.

Firstly I just want to start this off with the fact that this authors writing is absolutely excellent, the story flowed perfectly and the different POV's were really good and added extra depth to the book.

HOWEVER - what was that plot?! The only word I can use to describe it is BONKERS.

I would totally have got on board with this book if the plot had involved a bit of murder, I was totally expecting that to happen but it just... didn't. That ending just left me totally frustrated, why were the characters so delusional. I love an unreliable narrator and was thrilled to have TWO unreliable characters in this, but holy moly I just felt let down. Even the character Meghan - briefly introduced but still delusional. It was incredibly frustrating. I felt like Adams mum could have had a more fleshed out role. Even Finn needed a more fleshed out role - although another delusional character.

I really wanted to love this and I'd definitely pick up another Samson book - I'm just hoping for a bit better of a plot.

I really enjoyed most of this book but it lost me at the end. I liked the characters and the intrigue enough to keep me wanting to turn pages. I can see a scenario like this playing out in real life, even if one of the characters was a touch unhinged.
I don’t know what the ending could have been but what we got just didn’t do it for me.

1.5 stars rounded up.

The Switch explores an initial friendship between Elena and Sophia, which soon expands to a 'sex game' called 'the switch'. The game entails pretending to be each other (including clothing, jewellery, perfume, shampoo, etc), making the bedroom pitch black, and having sex with each others husband. Elena initially questions if this is rape, as their husbands have not consented to sex with the other woman, to which Sophia responds with something akin to 'they’re men, they’re grateful for sex', and that's the end of the apparently. Consent is never ever questioned again.

I have to say, even before this part, I wanted to DNF (I think by chapter 6?). I carried on as I was promised twists, and perhaps they would get their comeuppance. I was not so lucky. Surprisingly the writing picked up a little after 'the switch', maybe because I just wanted to get to the big twists I was promised, but it did still feel quite long and dragging. There was little suspense, and unfortunately the 'twists' were not very surprising nor deserving of descriptors like "twisted", "dangerous", etc. Not a single character was likeable, explaination weren't good enough, and the ending was flat. I should've DNFed when I wanted to.

I would suggest checking trigger warnings prior to reading, which include rape, abuse, etc (some trigger warnings will be spoilers, which I have not included here).

Thank you to netgalley for the arc.

What a real page turner this was book was! I wasn’t sure who to trust or where the story was heading. Lots of twists and turns right until the very end. I ended up reading this book in a day as I just couldn’t sleep not knowing what happened. The writing was easy to follow with short chapters. I’d look forward to reading books from this author in the future. Thank you Netgalley & Cornerstone for the opportunity to read this book.

DNF at 50%. I appreciate the eARC, but unfortunately this one just wasn't
for me. I had a few issues with the plot which I'm not going to go into as I don't want to influence people's opinion before its release in June. Some people might enjoy this one, but it just wasn't my cup of tea

I loved reading this book and it didn't take me long to finish it. Based on two main character terms the storyline is full of twists and suspense. Definitely to be recommended

What a book! Flew threw this in 3 days as I couldn't put it down. Fast paced, ridiculous and a little bit 50 shades - I loved it! None of the characters were particularly likeable but I still found myself on team Elena. Hard to say much about the book without giving away spoilers but this is perfect for any thriller fans.

‘The Switch’ by Lily Samson is primarily told by Elena, a freelance proof-reader who is housesitting in elegant, opulent Wimbledon Village with her husband Adam. After a chance meeting, she becomes friendly with - and envious of - glamorous couple Sophia and Finn. When Sophia proposes that the two women make use of their nearby homes and blackout blinds to secretly switch partners one night with the aim of reigniting the spice in their relationships, Elena initially reacts with shock. A combination of wanting to fit in with Sophia’s enviable lifestyle, attraction to Finn, and desperation to fix her own flat marriage results in the beginning of a dangerous liaison…

I was gripped by this book within the first few pages and enjoyed the short chapters. The occasional sections from Sophia’s point of view offered interesting insights even if the two voices didn’t sound that different. I loved all of the accurate and immersive descriptions of Wimbledon Village, and the part set in Villefranche provided a captivating change of scene. I could definitely see this as a TV show or movie with picture-perfect locations hiding devious behaviour. On the flip-side, I didn’t much like any of the characters, and while it was deliciously twisty to the last page, the ending didn’t really do it for me.

Overall, it was a 3.5 star read for me (rounded up). I’d recommend to fans of Louise Candlish, there are definitely similar omnipresent themes of people being defined by home ownership and the struggles people face to get on the property ladder!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book to review. After DNF’ing 4 books in a row, I was relieved to be hooked straight into this story. It kept a good pace throughout with a progressing storyline and twists along the way. Yes there are some parts which are a bit unbelievable, but most good stories are! For an easy read that keeps pace and has a twist, I’d recommend this read.
