Inheritance is the beginning of a trilogy that is one continuous story. it follows Sonya, who receives shocking news that her father had a twin brother who recently passed away and that she's the heir to his mansion in Maine. The premise is so cool, and I really had a fun time with this haunting romance. I had a lot of fun with this, and although it's quite long, the pacing held up really well!

This book is a first in a trilogy, and I really enjoyed the writing and setting. Overall, it's a great start to a fantasy, gothic horror, and historical romance trilogy. Thanks to Netgalley and teh publishers for an e-arc!

Sonya has her life sorted, she is marrying her fiancé, So busying organising her wedding, she loves her job and Sonya and her fiancé are looking for their forever dream home.

But life is never that simple, when Sonya gets some very upsetting news that changes everything,.

When Sonya starts working for herself from home and starting her own company she gets a knock on the door which changes her life forever!!!

Do you believe in ghosts, do you believe in hauntings,? When Sonya moves she needs to solve the mystery of the Manor and try and help the stranded souls.
I do really enjoy Nora Robert’s books, and this is no exception!! But I hate having to wait for each book in the series to come out 😀.

When Sonya McTavish discovers her fiancé and her cousin together in her bed she decides to break up with the both of them. Unfortunately, whatshisname is also her coworker and their break-up leads to a very unpleasant environment at work. Sonya loves her job as a graphic designer and she loves her bosses, but she must let them go in order to maintain her sanity and her pride. But sometimes when one door closes a window opens and that’s what happened to her when a charming lawyer comes to meet her with an inheritance from an uncle she never knew existed. Turns out her late father had a twin brother, Collin, who was the baby their family kept when their parents died in tragic circumstances, and now Collin has died and left her a manor in a little town by the sea in Maine.

Sonya not only moves to the manor in the hopes that she can start over with her life and set her own business with the help of her old bosses, she also starts a journey of self discovery as she, little by little, unveils the secrets of her biological family, The Pooles, and their sad past. In the manor she is never alone, for the house is haunted with the ghosts of the Poole brides who lost their lives on their respective wedding days.

I have read several Nora Roberts books over the years and I am well aware of her reputation as a writer. Her books are (and have been) a solace for many generations of readers and whenever I go to a bookshop, and I live in Spain, her books stand out as they cover many shelves of the romance section. I never thought I would be given the opportunity of reading an ARC penned by her, but here I am, enjoying this ghost story so much. Sonya is such a relatable character, she’s as ordinary as any other woman in the world. Hardworking, kind, compassionate and she takes pleasure in the little things that make all the ordinary places, people, and things, truly extraordinary. I could see myself in Sonya, I could see my girl friends in Sonya, she’s one of us, she’s all of us. And we want the best for her just like we want the best for our friends and, of course, for ourselves. Because, we and Sonya, deserve the best.

Could the best be Trey? Trey is the son of that charming attorney and he is also an attorney himself, like his father and grandfather. His family was so close to Collin Poole that they made a ‘found family’ with him. So, of course, they would embrace and look after Sonya from the moment she moved to the manor. And Trey is a good man, and single!

Nora Roberts wrote in ‘Inheritance’ the best small town Hallowe’en romance I’ve read this year. There’s everything that makes a small town romance so well loved, the cosiness, the charm of the people, the smell of books and coffee… with the good parts of a gothic novel. All the ghosts and the mystery, a little bit of spookiness but nothing too scary, perfect to read while we have a comforting mug of hot chocolate, a warm blanket, a few cushions, ‘Inheritance’ ready to be read, and rain outside the windows.

This is the most wonderful start to a new trilogy by Nora Roberts! Her trilogies have always been my favourites of her stories as many involve elements of the paranormal and this one is no exception with it's spirits and maybe witches!?
The tale has a quite sedate start with Sonya's life plans being torn apart. She copes and finds her way through until her inheritance is revealed to her and she decides to try to claim it.
This is where life gets interesting for her in many ways, her love life has a new spark as does her working life but the biggest thing is the house she inherited and the inhabitants who make themselves known to her in many different ways but most are helpful.
The writing is engrossing as always with a Nora Roberts book, I really struggled to put it down to do those things I have to in life and then when I got to the last page ..... I really need books 2 & 3 NOW!!!!
I need to know who all the other inhabitants are, what happened to them and most importantly why and I hope that all the good that has been happening in Sonya's life continues to flourish no matter what a certain witch wants and does!

Inheritance by Nora Roberts.
The Lost Bride Trilogy Book One.
1806. Astrid Poole is murdered on her wedding day. Her last words - a promise to her husband never to leave him...
After finding her fiancé in a compromising position with her cousin, Sonya MacTavish needs an escape. When a lawyer turns up on her doorstep out of the blue with news that she has inherited a beautiful Victorian house, Sonya thinks maybe this is just the change of scene she needs. The house - nicknamed Lost Bride manor - is beautiful, the setting idyllic and the local town offers Sonya the smalltown comforts she craves after life in a big city. So what if there are sometimes shadows in the windows, objects move of their own accord and music starts playing out of nowhere. Sonya can live with the house being a little haunted. But things soon start to take a darker turn and it becomes clear that Sonya has inherited far more than a house. She has inherited a centuries-old curse, and a puzzle she must solve if there is any hope of breaking it...
I really enjoyed this book. I did like Sonya. I loved how lost Bride Manor was described and it felt like I was there. I'm looking forward to the next book. 5*.

This is part 1 in ‘The Lost Bride’ psychological thriller series
Nora Roberts is an author who has been recommended to me several times and to my shame it has taken a couple of years to pick up one of her books. I really enjoyed the style of writing but I wish I had started with a stand alone book rather than a trilogy as then I would not have to wait for a conclusion..
Thankfully there is a list of previous novels at the front of the book so I can choose my next Nora Roberts and enjoy the full story.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts
I give this book 4.5 stars

Sonya MacTavish learns she has inherited a Victorian house nicknamed Lost Bride manor - it’s beautiful, the setting idyllic. So what if there are sometimes shadows in the windows, objects move of their own accord and music starts playing out of nowhere.

This is going to be a trilogy and the ending has me desperately eager to find out how long I have to wait for book 2!
The authors way of telling a story is captivating and the descriptive writing allowed me to picture the manor vividly and all the characters were brought to life from between the pages for me especially Sonya. You have a mystery including a curse,a mirror, dreams, dogs, romance and both whimsical and malice goings on from the past inhabitants. If you’ve not tried this author and enjoy a paranormal mystery go grab a copy.
With thanks to Netgalley,Nora Roberts and Little, Brown Book Group UK, Piatkus for my chance to read and review this book.

As always Nora Roberts has penned a fabulous story! Sonya inherits a beautiful Victorian manor house from an uncle no-one knew existed. The house turns out to be huge, spectacular ... and haunted! Sonya, her best friend Cleo, her cousin and her romantic interest have to navigate their way around dealing with the supernatural events and a curse in the house. I really enjoyed this story. I'm both glad that it's the first in the trilogy because there'll be more of this great story to come, but sad that it ended in a cliff-hanger and I have to wait for book 2 to find out what happens next. Loved Clover's musical antics!

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book, full of mystery and ghosts, along with a slow burning romance, all in Nora Roberts trademark writing style. I think I'd know a Nora Roberts book even if it didn't have a cover simply by the writing style!

Sonya McTavish is due to get married, but finds her fiance cheating just before the wedding, and ditches him. But he's vindictive and keeps causing her aggravation, as they work for the same firm, leaving her to her quit her job and work for herself. But then she hears from a solicitor that an uncle she never knew she had has left her a Victorian mansion in Maine, but she has to live in it for 3 years to inherit. After careful thought she ends up moving to Maine and instantly falls in love with the house, although not so much all of the ghostly inhabitants - although she slowly gets used to most of them, especially the ones who make the beds and tidy up all the time!

I loved all the charactes in this book, especially Cleo, Sonya's best friend, who ends up moving into the mansion with her. There's a slow burning romance for Sonya with one of the solicitors dealing with the inheritance, and lots of ghostly goings-on, with one evil and quite scary ghost who has vowed never to leave and has killed various brides over the centuries.

The only thing that stopped this from being a 5-star read for me is the massive cliffhanger at the end of the book. Now I know this is a trilogy, but I really need each part of the trilogy to have some sort of satisfactory ending leading into the next book, but this felt like half the book was missing because the ending was so abrupt and unexpected, which I found extremely disappointing, especially as we'll probably have to wait another year for the next installment. Saying that I will definitely read it, I just wish it was published sooner rather than later so I don't forget what happened!

Book 1 in a new Nora Robert trilogy.
Sonya, a graphics artist, comes home unexpectedly to find her fiance in bed with her cousin. In the aftermath of their break-up, she receives a visit from a lawyer claiming that she has inherited a house in Maine.
As she makes a fresh start, she finds that there are other presences in the houses, mostly good, but one is malevolent. Sonya, along with her friends, Cleo, Trey and Owen try to work out what happened in the house and how they can restore peace.
As usual, Nora has created rounded, believable characters who make you want to go on their journey. She's got the atmosphere of the house just right. Can't wait to continue ue the journey in book 2.

The book starts with the murder of a bride on her wedding day in 1806 - a curse is placed on future brides down the ages .
A young woman disillusioned at catching her fiancé in bed with her cousin is given a fresh start with an inheritance ........ a house of shadows , moved objects and music playing .
But she has inherited more than the house but also perhaps the curse -where will the "mirror" take her ?

This is the first book in her latest paranormal series which I found a little slow to start - much time was used in setting the scene and characters in place for the next book in the series . That being said it was an enjoyable start from the Author's fertile mind ... I look forward to the next book in the series

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Another trilogy by Nora Roberts that hooks you and leads you on an incredible journey form the very first page!
Sonya, a talented, passionate and very artistic woman has her world turned upside down in more than one way when she has to start over after her fiance is caught cheating, though that seems to be not as heartbreaking as the thought it would be.
Another shock comes with the knowledge that she has inherited a massive estate from a twin brother of her father that no on knew about.
She decides a new start is just the thing and sets out to discover more about the family she knows nothing about. What she learns blows her mind, and scares her a little. Dead brides. A vicious 200 year old curse. Ghosts everywhere. It`s all a little terrifying. But she is brave and resilient and she loves her new home. And maybe the new man Trey has taken her breathe away a little.
A lot of day to day life in this one as she gets to know the house, is swept away by ghosts and terrorized by a witch.
The only thing I hate about one of her trilogies is the year long wait for the next installment! Another wonderful tale that is unforgettable and full of love and life and, my favorite, magic!

4.5 stars rounded up. Sonya is in a rebuilding phase after setbacks in her personal life and career when she unexpectedly receives an inheritance. Deciding to uproot her life and try a temporary relocation to a coastal town in Maine, she gets a whole lot more than she anticipated.

As is usual with a Nora Roberts book, this is compulsively readable, filled with evocative descriptions, rounded characters and flowing, easy dialogue. The house is a character in itself, with its (mostly) invisible inhabitants - while I got a little annoyed with Sonya's repeated insistence that she's 'groggy' or 'forgetful' (it didn't seem to mesh with the strong persona she'd previously displayed), it does serve to slowly ratchet up the paranormal aspect. That aspect doesn't completely take over, though: I enjoyed the way the author strikes a balance between ghostly antics (the communication via music choices is a real highlight) and the realities of Sonya creating a new life in a small town, along with discovering family history and a budding romance. Everything builds up very nicely, and then... well, I was aware this is the first in a trilogy, but I was not expecting the cliffhanger. Despite that being a touch frustrating, I'm definitely intrigued to see where this tale goes next.

The start of a new trilogy. Family secrets, a fantastic old mansion. Tragedys down the generations.
All weaved together by the masterful Nora Roberts.
Sit down and escape into the story and become immersed in the lives of Sonya, Trey, Cleo and Owen.
I loved it and am looking forward to the next installment

Why would you end it like that!!!? Now I have a long agonising wait.

Lovely story, great characters and just enough spookiness for this time of year. Nora Roberts is still on form with what she does best

Thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publisher

5/5

I love Nora Roberts as an author and this latest offering didn't disappoint. I love her writing style , she draws you in and I can never put a book down once I've started it.
This book was an emotional rollercoaster,it made me laugh, cry and was so entertaining and thought provoking.
The character's are really appealing and the rapport with the hero and heroine and the interaction between them and the secondary characters are really entertaining. There are dogs , which I love too. They're always as part of the action as the people .
I loved the ghostly interactions depicted , some laugh out loud, some sweet and some sinister and scary.
This book incorporates mystery, romance and the paranormal into the heartwarming storyline . I couldn't put it down and was reading into the early hours. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens . Recommended

WOW. Thoroughly intriguing. Nora Roberts has done it again. A great story, which moves back and forth in time. Puzzles to solve, as well as a romance.. Just great.

Nora Roberts introduces us to another intriguing and addictive trilogy, by luring us in with a two-century-long mystery and a ghost story.

I loved how the female friendships/relationships are portrayed in the book. Love how the main character explores what she really wants versus what she thinks she’s supposed to want.

However, the abrupt ending left me quite surprise! I wasn’t expecting the book to end in a cliffhanger like that.
Overall, it’s a great start to a fantasy, gothic horror and historical romance trilogy and I look forward for the next book in the installment.

After been put off marriage after finding her fiancé with her cousin Sonya is ready for the big change when she is left a Victorian house by a father, she never knew.
When the house comes with a curse and live in family, life takes a turn for the magical and mysterious.
Part of a trilogy you will have plenty of time to spend meeting small town characters. The pace of this first book is spent setting up the story for future chapters.
Thank you NetGalley and (publisher, Little Brown Book Group UK) for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
