This is a cute little book with a sweet poem that describes how to make a rain garden. It would be great to read with a young child as it has nice rhyming and rhythm, and could be great for a science classroom of really any age to introduce a unit on rain, plants, gardening, etc.

The writing rhymed in places, but there wasn't a particular pattern to it. There was also no set amount of lines of text on each page so there wasn't the usual flow you get with a younger child's story book. There were some more difficult words thrown in, so the book could cater for a range of reading abilities.

There were different length lines of text and random words in different places on each page which was interesting. It was however, cleverly done in rough blocks so that you knew which bit to read to make it make sense.

The text was in a clear font and mainly black. There were the odd bits of white text depending on where the text was. The text was integrated into the picture so this had a bearing on the colour of it. It also meant that the text had different coloured backgrounds which some readers might need to be aware of. There was also the odd size change for individual words and some words were in capital letters.

The pictures were bright and bold. There wasn't too much detail to them, which made it more eye catching for the younger reader.

At the end of the book there was a clear step by step guide at the end to get the children involved, which I particularly liked.

Overall an interesting read with a fun activity at the end.

This is such a cute and educational picture book! I’m still a sucker for rhyming and lyrical children’s books despite the trend in the industry otherwise. My husband is a civil engineer whose job is to make sure water goes where it’s supposed to, so this will be the perfect book for our baby boy who will be here very soon! The illustrations were lovely too.

This is such a cute story. This would be great for a classroom read a loud. You could even read this as a bedtime story.

Young children need picture books like this to help them understand caring for the environment. The way schools teach about precipitation can be dull, but this colorful book explores the good and bad aspects of water. We learn that rain can mix with oil and dirt, run into our streams and pollute them. The book teaches how to catch clean rainwater and use it to grow a nurturing garden for birds and young animals.

This is a fun, charming, whimsical book. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. My son and I especially enjoyed the beautiful flowers. This is a fun way for young readers to understand how flowers grow and how the process of watering works. A fun and educational book.
