This is a really spicy book, with a hot scene in almost all chapters.
It can get a little too much, but the storyline carries it through and you can still enjoy it.

Jax is a good looking and intriguing character.
His obsession with Cara is alluring.

I think this book is fun and advise those who enjoy really hot and steamy romance books to read as I think you will enjoy a lot.

I managed to complete reading this book as I kept waiting for it to really develop the story. Unfortunately I felt like the author concentrated more on the sex than the actual storyline. Disappointing read.

Sold on the description. However this one was not for me. I like it in the beginning but after they got together everything just move too fast and didn't make any sense. Too many repetitive scenes and dialogues. Also, I don't think the title really match the story.

Thank you netgalley

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Firstly, the CW list leads to a locked website, so I went into this completely blind which sucked. This is a reverse harem story with brothers including some pretty heavy triggers. Hopefully by the time this releases an actual CW list will be included, as I might have liked this book more if the triggers didn't take me by surprise.

The writing style is not my cup of tea. It's super choppy, rushed, doesn't feel like it's been edited at all and it's hard to follow and almost feels juvenile. There's one sentence that contains the words "my body" three separate times (if you're curious, that phrase appears 470 times in the book).

I like the characters, but there's no character development. The romance aspect feels utterly forced, there's no spark or connection, no tension-building, we're just thrown straight into a (not discussed or consensual) dominating dinner table scene when ten pages ago they didn't like eachother.

Even the spicy scenes made me cringe. I love dark romance, usually even more so when it's ridiculously spicy, but I could barely get through the spice scenes in this book. Which is a shame, because they make up about 80% of it. If the spice scenes were written better there could be less of them, leaving more page time freed up for important character and plot development.

I DNF'd when a brother of the guy she's falling for tied her up in her sleep and then pulled a knife out while they were playing. Knife play is fun to explore in fiction, but during literally the characters second interaction with this man? Where's the slow build? Where's the development of trust? There's always very little discussion of consent in dark romance, but at least there's usually an inplication of a building relationship and trust and desire between the two characters. That is non-existant here, and the lack of a functional CW list left me completely unprepared for it.

I really wanted to love this, but it's very much not for me, sorry. All spice, no substance.

As a lover of this type of "power dynamic" romance, I was disappointed with the lack of character development and the smut was good enough to make me overlook it.

The Kane Brothers, when it said this at the beginning I didn’t actually know what I was getting myself in for. So, I picked this on the name and thought it reminds me of another book I haven’t yet read. I was looking for something Dark, smutty with a bit of a story line.

That’s exactly what I received with this book. Also my first ever full book read on my e-reader!
Story
A girl has the absolute hots for her sexy smelling, mysterious grumpy boss. Little does she know what’s in store when an office dare almost gets her locking lips with a stranger things start to change.
Now one thing I liked about this book was it was very fast paced in terms of story line and you get to sort of know her mainly as a character. The story goes quickly from one to more than one lover lover and it goes dark, very dark. Routing for the fmc as always I found that I surprisingly enjoyed it more than I thought I actually would.

Now go be a good girl, and go read it ;)

*ARC received from Netgalley - All opinions are my own*

TLDR: Don't recommend at all - writing is horrifically choppy and entirely inaccurate throughout the story. Even the spicy scenes aren't worth suffering through the writing and spelling/ grammar errors.

Resisting Jax starts off normally and there aren't many issues with the writing. However, it quickly starts to break down when Jax and Caras relationship switches. It goes 0-100 real quick and not in a good way, in my opinion and it shows in the relationship as there is absolutely no chemistry.

The addition of the brothers wasn't something I expected and it really didn't add anything. Often during the sex scenes it gets really confusing as the author herself seems to forget who's where and start to releport all over the place and the descriptives just aren't there to help you make sense of everything going on.

There is also a background plot but it really doesn't matter at all until the last maybe 100 or less pages and is pretty forgettable.

Don't recommend at all, there are similar books out there executed much better.

EDIT: Can we please stop making r*pe and sexual assault and dubcon be an essential part of "dark" romance!!

thank you NetGalley for this book! I think this book would've been better if they weren't brothers, it was just borderline incest. also i feel like everything happens so fast and you don't really get to know the characters that well.

this book was just not for me. I couldn't finish it, however the sex scenes when it was just with Jax were magnificient but I don't think that a romance where all brothers share the same girl is for me.

Sizzling Debut: Resisting Jax by Calia Quinn"

In Calia Quinn’s debut novel, "Resisting Jax," readers are plunged into a scorching world of reverse harem romance with the irresistible Kane Brothers. With a dark and deliciously brooding Jac at the helm, the tension is palpable as the plot unfolds, leaving readers craving more.

The dynamic between the protagonist and the Kane Brothers is electrifying, with Jac standing out as a captivating enigma. Despite his allure, readers are left wondering what darkness lies beneath his surface.

The one bed trope adds an enticing layer of intimacy, while spicy encounters, including a memorable business meeting, keep the heat turned up high throughout the narrative.

However, amidst the steamy scenes and intense chemistry, there are lingering questions about the mysterious house and the enigmatic man who contacts the protagonist.

Quinn doesn't shy away from exploring kink play, including knife play, adding an extra layer of intensity to the story. The complexity of the characters, particularly the enigmatic bear with his unresolved issues, adds depth to the narrative.

While the story is undeniably spicy, it also delivers moments of heartwarming tenderness, such as the pamper day arranged by the Kane Brothers for the protagonist.

Readers will find themselves swept away by the grumpy sunshine persona of Luca and the possessive nature of the MMCs, all while rooting for the protagonist to find her place among them.

This is certainly a steamy romance and not a book for those who don't like reading sex scenes with more than one man in! I haven't read any reverse haram books before and this was a good introduction.
I liked the characters but I didn't feel they were explored enough.
I didn't like the fact that at the beginning of every sentence in the sex scenes they said oh god or oh fuck!
I felt that the sex started too quickly. One minute they were enemies and the next he decided to touch her up at the dinner table!
An okay story overall.

1.5⭐️/5 (rounded up to 2)

I recommend this book if you enjoy:
- VERY frequent spicy scenes
- Reverse harem trope
- DARK themes

I picked up this book because I thought the cover and the description sounded interesting, in addition it being the only book I had with me at the time of reading. I only finished it because I was intrigued by the mystery of Oak Haven and I didn't expect one of the twists but unfortunately, this book wasn't for me and I probably will not pick up the next one.

In the beginning of the book it does say look at the TW's with a link to the author's page but when you actually click on it nothing appears. I think they would've been helpful considering the spicy reverse harem scenes made my eyes bulge out of my head.. because of the brothers being naked in front of each other. I would think that would be uncomfortable as they seem quite close with each other as well.

My point is we hardly got anything about them and more about Cara's friends who are barely in the book anyway. I didn't connect to the characters either even though the FMC has been through a lot which she didn't deserve.

Out of all the brothers, I liked River the most. He gave golden retriever energy and was the sweetest one of them. I'd have preferred for Cara to end up with him if this was a choose one brother and a standalone story. I think the authors writing was good but ultimately not for me.

Thank you the ARC book! I think this book wasn't my kind of book however if if you are looking for a smutty book with RH this would be recommended. I felt there was more spice than there was plot which was a shame, the reverse harem trope was clear but I would of liked to get to know the characters a bit more before they started hooking up. The plot that was there was really good, but I feel it got a bit lost in the smut. I really liked the relationship that Cara had with the 2nd to last brother however this wasn't Jax so I didn't feel like the title didn't quite connect. I did notice a few grammatical and spelling mistakes which may need correcting also.

I couldn't access the trigger warning list so I feel that could be added to the start of the book rather than a link to make it easier for people to access.

Unfortunately I think this genre is personally not for me, might be worth a try if you enjoy darker romance.

To note - was unable to access trigger warnings (the link takes me to a locked website) so would probably be helpful to include in the manuscript.

Cara and the Kane brothers, Jax, Elijah, River and Luca sizzle with chemestry. The story is engaging (though a little repeating) the characters develope overtime and the story is well paced.

Thanks so much for the copy of this book! This book was definitely spicy with some great plot lines and characters. The storyline kicks in about halfway through and builds lots of suspense. I have rated it three stars as it was definitely enjoyable and worth the read however I would like to have seen a little more development of the storyline e.g., more background info, more in depth information about the characters. There were some elements that were a little bit repetitive but this didn’t take away from the story too much and was still an overall good read. Thanks again for supplying me with a copy!!

Overall I somewhat enjoyed the book - plenty of steamy spicy scenes, met my expectations in terms of it being a reverse harm situation, and the 2nd to last brother was THE ONE that I fell in love with! The last quarter of the book as well was so interesting and kept me hooked until the very last page. It was a bit of a twist and not something I expected to be in this type of book, but I loved the dynamic shift of introducing this situation.

Unfortunately I did have some issues. The narrative was quite factual, fanfic style, repetitive wording and also pretty surface level with the characters, not overly fleshing out their descriptions or personality. It was very much focused on the spice and moving the characters quickly forwards towards the final plotline, so I would have enjoyed the pace to be a bit slower and exploring a bit more of the relationships and the people themselves. It seemed to jump very quickly from 0-100 and the different settings, and it was very repetitive with the use of nicknames for the female main character - I feel like this definitely could have been used a bit more sparsely and reflect the deepening growth of the relationships, rather than calling her the nickname every few sentences. There are also some trigger-warning-worthy scenes, which were not obviously displayed at the start of the book (my version had a Content Warning link to a locked website so I had to search for this information).

Also a pretty minor disappointment was the title of the book - it only mentions Jax, when there are three other brothers, and the female main character didn't do much resisting of him, or any of them!

Resisting Jax: A Reverse Harem Romance

**2.5 Stars for me **

Honestly, I do not know what happened, the Book started off good.
The story was okay, and it was easy to read.
The smut was also great ...

and then ..

Somewhere along the 50% into the book it all just turned 180, the writing for each men became the same
*She is so tight* all the f-ing time -
I have read quiet a few RH and usually like them, I read dark romance so I can stomach just about anything but here some things just turned me off.

****
Champagne glass - Naah ( While this can be sexy, the way this was written and explained it was NOT- at least not for me )

I also feel like I couldn't really connect to any of them - the ending was rushed and it just became repetitive.
Some twists I didn't see coming as I didn't know there was any - and when it was revealed I was like , ' Huh What happened here?'

The Idea wasn't bad at all but the execution just wasn't for me.
If you enjoy RH and a lot of S*x - sweet, overwhelming and sometimes even questionable - Give this book a try :)

A very enjoyable read, tension was built between the two main characters from the offset. Hooking me as a reader from the first few pages. A very well written dark-romance. The cliche of boss and employee was fun but felt a little too similar to others at points. Until it’s not, and I won’t spoil it but let’s just say the boss is not the only one romancing over cara. A very good balance of hot and sexy and dark. Overall a good read with some amazing characters who I connected with easily and plenty of romance.

If you're looking for a why choose read that has lots of hot and steamy scenes , laughter and suspense then you need to puck up a copy of Resisting Jax. It is a dark read so please do check the trigger warnings before persuing into the lives of Cara , Jax, Elijah, Luca and River.

I personally am a sucker for the "Touch her and die' trope which is present in this book as is my all time favourite Grumpy x Sunshine.
