This was a really fun enemies to lovers read, I really enjoyed the chemistry and found myself rooting for them.

I’ve not come across Martin’s work before and I was instantly taken by the cute cover! I love an enemies to lovers book, and this book was soo good. I like Martin’s way of writing, it’s witty, flows easily and is very contemporary (sometimes she does repeat the same saying in close proximity which slightly grates me but I am a loser so don’t pay attention to me!) I really liked Nate! I think I’m always a sucker for a MMC. I LOVED the FMCs best friend and her parents- such fun side characters. If you like city girl returns to the small town after her life implodes then this book is for you! I cannot wait to check out what else Martin has out there! So funny, flirty and fun

This didn't work for me, and it has all to do with our main characters. I find Collins so pushy and annoying, and as a people pleaser myself, I hate to read characters like (me) her. And our Hero wasn't any better. He was an a**hole, and their fallout was 100% on him, yet he never really apologized, but he was easily forgiven?!?! No thanks.
The setting was funny, and the side characters were too, but with the clear miscommunication and the me not rooting for the romance, this was a bit disappointing, especially because I loveeeee Alexa's previous book.
Still, this was fun, so give it a go if you like.

In "Next-Door Nemesis" by Alexa Martin, the rollercoaster of emotions and sizzling tension between Collins Carter and Nathaniel Adams is a delightful journey through a small-town battlefield of love and rivalry. The author, with her signature touch, weaves a tale that is not only swoony and hilarious but also rich in world-building that brings the suburban setting to life. Collins and Nate's tumultuous history as high school friends turned enemies adds layers to their fiery dynamic, and the homeowner's association presidency race becomes the stage for their comedic and steamy showdown.
Martin's writing effortlessly balances humor and sensuality, creating a story that keeps you hooked from secret board meetings to scandalous backyard whispers. The characters' witty banter and the unexpected twists in their relationship make for a thoroughly entertaining read.
"Next-Door Nemesis" is a sexy rom-com that transcends the typical enemies-to-lovers trope, offering readers a charming escape into a world where love blooms even in the unlikeliest of places.

Very grateful to the publisher @headline for my review copy through NetGalley, opinions are my own

I have some mixed feeling about this book… I really liked the FMC’s friendship group and seeing her find her place with the people she loves but the romance wasn’t my favorite.

I struggled to get into this book until close the end. The beginning was a bit too slow, with little interaction between the MCs, which I wasn’t a fan of. It did get better once they started interacting more but I still wasn’t as invested as I would have liked.

I guess you could say there are two parts to this book: the first, where Nate and Collins are nemesis and don’t get along due to the way their friendship ended when they were teenagers; and the second, where they realize that behind all the hatred, is something a lot deeper and they stop denying their feelings. While there is nothing wrong with that, I found that the transition from nemesis to lovers was quite abrupt… I guess part of me understands why (taking into account what happened that turned them into rivals) but even though there may have been a reason behind it all, I feel like it should have taken more than one conversation to erase all those bad feelings and the pain his actions cause Collins. I know Nate was in a lot of pain back then but I really didn’t love the way Collins just accepted it… he should have grovelled at least a little bit.

Overall, while I didn’t love this book, I think fans of the enemies to lovers trope will enjoy it.

3.5/5 stars

A fun enemies to lovers story. Collins is reluctantly back home, and Nate never left. He just wants her gone again, but she will fight him. A great read.

A small town next door romance. An enemies to lovers never fails to intrigue me. Throw in a competition and I’m hooked!

When Collins returns back to her parents house, after losing her job, she doesn't expect to find her high school nemesis, Nate, living close by. And why is she seeing him everywhere she goes? When Collins finds out Nate will be running for HOA president, she chooses to run against him because why not? As the two work closer together, well....I'll leave you to guess what happens.

This book was such a delight to read! I relish witty banter and these two had it going in spades. Funny in parts and emotional in others, this book had me rooting for our couple throughout. Highly recommend to all my romcom lovers!

A very enjoyable story that could have benefited from dual pov imho.
Loved Collins she was honest, feisty, and petty (three of my favourite qualities 😂).
I think Nate fell a bit flat for me because we never knew what he was thinking-except in that his backstory was a little predictable so really you could guess his side of you took a minute to think about it.
I felt that the concept of “show me don’t tell me” could’ve been utilised a bit more it felt like every action was explained instead of trusting the reader to understand subtext.
I’ll definitely read more by Alexa though and did enjoy this one it just wasn’t outstanding, for me.

This book was everything I needed. Cute, spicy, enemies to lovers! Realising home is where everything you thought you needed actually is!

I rated this a very high 4 star read, was borderline a 5 star read I just wish there was a bit more detail into Nate’s past sooner. I felt like his past with his mum was such a key element to the story and it was skipped over rather quickly.

However, I would highly recommend giving this a read and you should definitely pick it up if you see it!

Thank you net galley & Alexa Martin for a copy of this arc!

This was fun, i do like the enemies to lover, delinked connection theme, i do fell that Collins is a bit too much some times but overall she is ok, Nate is nice too and the way each other get under their skin is hilarious. The whole president’s competition was fun read, definitely enjoy it

After finding out her ex had cheated on her and stolen her work, Collins’ reaction goes viral, leading her to return home to her parents house to nurse her wounds. What she didn’t expect to happen was to wind up toe to toe with her old childhood friend, now enemy, in a battle to be the president of the HOA.

Alexis Martin has delivered a fantastic rom com with ‘Next Door Nemesis’, filled with swoon worthy heroes, hilarious side characters and a heroine you can’t help but want to root for.

Maybe it’s the time of year, but it gave me Gilmore Girls vibes too, with the small town, everyone in each others business vibe.

Thank you NetGalley and Headline for the ARC.

I really liked this one because the main character's dialogue was very funny and quite often I find rom-"coms" lack that sharp humour I love. This one delivered on that front. I liked that it was sexy and body positive - if I had any issues with it it would be the fact that the tension between them is based on a rather flimsy misunderstanding, but overall it was a great read.

The title of the book gives you away and I devoured it in one day. I love a good former best friends to enemies to lovers pipeline and Next-Door Nemesis did not disappoint. Collins Carter and Nathaniel Adams were best friends at one point but their relationship took a sour turn and now they are neighbours who harbours animosity for each other.

This book contained a good amount of humour, romance, and passion. There was also a good redemption “arc” of the characters. This was my first Alexa Martin book but certainly not my last.

Thank you to NetGalley and Headline books for providing this arc in exchange for my honest review!

maybe I'm just a sucker for childhood friends to enemies to lovers trope, but when I tell you I devoured this book? the only times I put the book down was to exist in the real world for a minute, then I gladly picked it right back up with no hesitation.

you know when you're craving a sweet romance after whatever other books you've been binging for the past week? that was this, and it hit!!! every character was great because they all had – and I cannot stress this enough – PERSONALITY. our MC, Collins Carter, had me giggling throughout the entire book like it was her JOB. (maybe it was since she was a romcom screenwriter.) and NATHANIEL ADAMS? hellO?? I don't need some broody bad boy when cute boys in sweaters and khakis exist.

I'm not sure how she did it, but Alexa Martin made HOA and the state of Ohio (sorry to my Ohioan fam) sound way more fun than they should be.

I have absolutely loved Alexa Martins novels for many years and so have our readers, I’m so excited to acquire this new title! It’s going to be a fun one as it deviates from the sports world to neighbor and HOA disputes. Will definitely be a fun read and I’m very excited to share more on this title very soon! Also considering it for our book club selection as well!
