This is a paranormal story about werewolves. Specifically, Robbie, who is basically a law enforcement officer for the back, sent outlying back’s either to remind them of the rules or to punish them.
He knows that the enemy of all packs is the Bennett pack, who want to destroy the existing welfare state and harm the young wolves.
When he is invited to one of the herds, he discovers a wild Beta wolf, who shouldn't exist because they are dangerous to others, and on top of that, something is whispered in his ear that makes him question everything he still remembers from his past.
A lot of questions and a lot of vague answers ensue, and then memories and secrets are revealed, revealing the real bad guy and his very horrifying plans for the wolves.
At the same time, it is also the story of the reunion of lovers, but it is not ordinary physical love, it is the story of two souls breathing and existing together, and how they find their way back to each other after being cruelly separated from each other and one of them was robbed of his wolf .

I'm not familiar with this author's other books, so I don't know if that's his style, he said
That he gives a talk, he said
Further chopped, he said
Adding to the end of each piece, he said
That someone has said something, he said
Just like I did here now. It might be quite normal to read it, but to listen to it... it really puts the patience to the test.

But what other thoughts did I have with this book? It was like a fanfiction of Patricia Briggs' Alpha & Omega series. Robbi would be like a younger version of Charles and instead of Anna he would have Kelly. And instead of Marrok, there is Michell, who does not protect all the wolves, but has allowed herself to be influenced by a witch who has turned himself into Yoda, and tries to destroy the wolves instead.

And those two things, the author's writing style and the similarity to the Briggs books, ruined my listening experience for me, even if the story was actually pretty good.

This was such a brilliant installment in the series and the audiobook is brilliant. A fantastic narrator really brings this story alive. I can't reccomend this series enough it's brilliant and so character focused.

Heart song is the 3rd book in the amazing Green Creek series I have fallen in love with this series and will be so sad when it's over. The character development we have had along these 3 books along with heartbreak and love. I have laughed and cried and been shocked and on edge of my seat scared for some of these characters. Amazing touching brilliantly written series and I can't wait for Brother song.

The audiobook was beautifully read just like previous books engaging and easy to follow would definitely recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley, Macmillan UK Audio and T J Klune for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh how I love the Bennett’s

Listening to this series on audio has made this story come alive in more ways than one. I feel like I know and am part of this pack. Amazing narrator who really gives a different feel to each character.

I love how the series doesn’t totally follow straight on from the last but intertwines. We find out so much more about not just the main characters of that book but about all of them.

Ricco is my favourite character, I just love his sassy one liners!

I can’t wait to listen to the next book but at the same time I really don’t want this series to end. I think I’m going to feel similar to having lost my mate, there’s going to be that gaping hole!

Amazing story with so much depth, written so wonderfully with characters that just burst to life.

I am afraid that I just wasn't gripped enough to want to hear more; it felt far too much of the same after the first book in the series and I much prefer Klune's more recent books, which are subtler and more gentle. This is not for me, especially the graphic sex scenes.

I love this authors style so much. I cannot get enough of his work. This story took a while to get into but then it was such an incredible anc emotional rollercoaster

The smooth pace of the narrator leaves you feeling like peeling off layers of an onion. You are seeing Robbie’s life revealed along with him.
Such an emotional heartbreaking story beautifully narrated.
The story follows the Bennett family of werewolves and their mates. The trials and tribulations they must overcome.
Even if this is your first read in this series you will have no problem in enjoying it as a stand alone.
Thank you NetGalley and (publisher) for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

My third book by T J Klune (thanks to Netgalley) and I have to start this review by complimenting T J on her ability to write across a broad range of genres. All 3 books I've read so far, albeit this one was an audiobook, have felt uniquely different, although both Babel and Heartsong do share a fantasy element.

While adding this read to Goodreads, I had worried I wouldn't be able to follow it, as it seemed to suggest it was the 3rd installment of a series. I have finished the book not aware of it being linked to anything previous and confident in my recommendation that even if it is, you can follow it even if, like me, this is your first introduction to the series.

Heartsong offers an interesting look at small town American life in a world where packs of werewolves, groups of witches and humans seemingly coexist, although not always knowingly.

Following Robbie Fontaine as he discovers that his life isn't quite as it seems, we're introduced to wolf politics and hierarchy during a time of threat from a virus which seems to be affecting wolves, creating Omegas who pose a danger to all those around them.

Beautifully capturing the sense of loss experienced following the death of a parent and on having your beliefs questioned and proven false.T J has also included lots of comfort in strong friendship and familial bonds that, while sometimes tested, ultimately win the day.

Proving that witches aren't always old crones with warts on their noses, I loved the elements of humour the out of town witches offered when called in to try and help unlock Robbie's memories. I also enjoyed the thought that wolves can see people's feelings as colours, as well as bring people back from the brink via a bite. I think this could have been borrowed from vampires but will admit fantasy isn't my usual genre so I may have missed this being a regular werewolf thing too.

Containing lots of touching moments, particularly between Kelly and Robbie. People's belief about werewolf attraction may be questioned, given many of the wolves appear to mate with those presenting as the same sex in human form. The story also contains day to day events as well as epic battles as good seeks to overcome evil.

An enjoyable exploration of fantasy for this relative novice, aided by engaging narration. I will be keeping an eye out to see what genre T J chooses next.

“Home,” he whispered. “You smell like home. You always have. And that’s the only thing that matters. You don’t need to remember because I remember for the both of us.”

Heartsong is the third book in the Green Creek series and Robbie Fontaine’s love story.

Robbie longs for a pack to call his own. Following the death of his mother, Robbie had been moving in between packs to keep him from turning feral. Summoned to be the trusted second of Michelle Hughes, the Alpha of all, Robbie has a chance to belong.

Coupled with strange dreams and hazy memories, Robbie finds himself questioning everything he’s been told. In his quest for the truth, Robbie discovers that one Kelly Bennett could be his mate.

I was scrolling through Netgalley and came across this book. The cover was just so compelling I had to read it. I didn’t even know it was part of a series till I was about 25% into it. I was worried the book wouldn’t make sense to me. I mean, it’s obvious there were things from the previous book, but I enjoyed it regardless.

The audiobook narration was perfect. The narrator’s voice was so soothing to listen to. It complimented TJ Klune’s writing so well. While listening, I lost consciousness of my surroundings and sucked into the world of wolves and witches. All the characters from this book felt so real. They were so well written. Their dialogues were to live for, especially Rico, who made me giggle every now and then. Kelly and Robbie’s love story was so so heartfelt. I can’t wait to read the other books in the series.

I’d recommend this book wholeheartedly.

This is Robbie Fontaine’s story, and after the end of the previous book, there was more than a moment where I was wondering what on Earth was going on.

It all becomes clear though, even though it’s a really tricksy storyline. I found myself doubting what I actually remembered from the previous two books! It was very cleverly done. Had Robbie actually been the one in Wolfsong and Ravensong? Or was that another Robbie? Because he didn’t remember having been there. This was a great way of getting someone back into both Gordo’s and the packs lives. Someone who they’d much rather have nothing to do with - but this person needs to be dealt with.

I just love this world building and these characters. I know it’s going to come to an end at some point, and I don’t think I’m ready for it!

I listened to this, thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan UK Audio. The narrator, Kirt Graves, is just perfect for these characters, and brings life to the Bennett pack. Maybe this answers the question of which format I’ll buy the next book, Brothersong, in. Well, for the first go-round, obviously…

If you’ve got this far and you’re wondering what m going on about, you should perhaps scroll back to my reviews on Wolfsong and Ravensong (books 1 and 2) and have a read. Perhaps you too can acquire a Bennett pack fixation. It’s not so bad!

Firstly I would like thank NetGalley for this ARC Audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

The narrator for this book was absolutely brilliant, they matched the book energy.

We continue to follow the characters from Green Creek. This time from the POV of Robbie Fontaine. Another tragic story for someone that finds themselves with the Bennet pack. Another tense and atmospheric read which is a story of forgiveness, courage, responsibility, and following your heart. I’ll be honest, I didn’t see how Heartsong was going to play out but I am appeased for now.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio and despite being quite a lengthy read it passed really quickly as I needed to know what happened. Klune has done it again though, left us with even more questions than we started with, I have made a note to watch out for the Brothersong release later in the year. How is Green Creek going to end up? I am certainly hoping the pack prevail!

My goodness I LOVE these books!! Pack, pack, pack!!

This series is the well written, queer werewolf Twilight that I never knew I needed! And the reason I love it so much is because it just has so much humour and soul to it, even if it gets violent and dark at times.

This time we’re exploring Robbie’s story, and I thought it was absolutely brilliant how this character who meant so little to me in the previous books suddenly became my whole world. It also just opened up a whole new can of worms and drama (won’t spoil it, but what a ride!) and I honestly couldn’t get enough, and finished it already desperate to read book four.

The romance and epic love stories in these books are so swoon-worthy, with this proper idea of soulmates, but it really is the found family and friendship element which keeps me coming back for more. I laugh out loud almost every time Rico speaks (hopefully spelling that right as I’ve been audio-ing!), and I just cannot get enough of the banter between all of the characters. Klune is, without a doubt, one of my favourite writers and not just of fantasy - he truly gets to the heart of characters and relationships and I would read his shopping list to be quite honest. Bring on book four!

DNF at 25%.

I've loved Klune's other books and picked this one, hoping for a similar experience. Sadly, this failed to hold my interest.

The third book in the Green Creek series, this time the focus is on Robbie as he struggles to figure out who to trust and where he belongs. This audiobook has the same narrator as the previous books in the series but he does a much better job this time round.

I remember reading Wolfsong when it first came out and loving it. It was beautiful and felt lyrical and it gave me all the emotions which sadly was the opposite of this one.
I know TJ loves angst and drama but this wasn't it. I love angst too but not when the characters are just being dumb and that was this book. I liked Robbie but he felt so childish here *sighs* it was frustrating.
The found family elements in this series was one of my favorite things and here I was just frustrated.
I will be reading the next book obviously but this one was a dissapointing addition to the series.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

What a beautiful read. Robbie having his memories taken and not remembering his pack. But remembers his mum. Having an series of events happen. World building and sequence of events happening Drawing him back to his pack. Finding love again and relationships rebuilding. Then having to go to war. Fight for whats right.

This was a stunning listen. Great person to read it. They are came together amazingly. I couldnt stop listening. I was gripped to finish this audio but not wanting it to finish at the same time.

The narration was done really well for this book. It really felt like a performance as the narrator included a range of accents and tones that made each character discernable from one another and allowed the most to be made of TJ Klune’s captivating writing style. I quickly felt very immersed in the story and the narration only added to the experience. Overall, a cozy fantasy listen!

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan UK for granting me access to this ARC audiobook.

Having not read the first two books of the series it did take me a while to get into this and be honest that it's not really my type of thing but if it is then It's an enjoyable romp of a werewolf plot that explores family, love and what it means to belong.

Don't get fooled by the books in the background. Heartsong is nothing like TJ Klune's other books. I mean, okay there is found family, and lots of heart and heartbreak, and crying and laughing...but other than that...
TJ Klune makes me feel all the feels, and even though this Green Creek series took a bit longer, it still did the trick. Book 3 is Robbie's story, and then though I didn't think I would care for him - I really did. The start was confusing, but once you figure out what is going on, you're all in I promise. From that point it's all pack.pack.pack.
I'm not much for werewolves and the whole Alpha/Omega thing, but with Klune it's the humanity behind all it anyway.
As for the audiobook, I'm still not too fond of the narrator. For such an emotional story he's too matter-of-factly most of the time, and you have to work hard to listen past his voice for the emotions.
Still, I'm looking forward to read the next book in the series.

4/5 stars

Thank you @netgalley and @macmillan.audio for the ALC!

‘We don’t give up on pack, we never have, we never will.'

For as long as Robbie can remember Ezra has been his father figure, the person who he trusts and turns to the most. However when they go to visit another pack who have been out of contact with the Alpha of Alphas, a secret is revealed to him. This secret starts a series of events, leading to all Robbie knows unravelling around him

It was not clear that this was the 3rd in a series in the description provided by the publisher; so from the start I already felt like I was on the back foot. However, once I got to grips with some of the werewolf lore, I really enjoyed it. It might be helpful to know that each wolf pack seems to have at least one witch and sometimes humans, the omega wolves have violet eyes, alpha red and beta yellow, with a female always being the pack alpha. The Alpha of Alphas is the leader of all wolves and must be beyond reproach.

I thought this was really well written fantasy escapism with some great elements of magical realism. The emotional aspects of the book and the pack bond were great, the immersive descriptions of their senses really help you understand the wolves actions. There are quite a few characters, but once you understand them and their place within the pack, everything makes a lot more sense. If I had read this within the context of the rest of the series I would probably have enjoyed it more as there was a lot of world and character elements to work out at the start. I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend to read it in the series order, for anyone that is into magical fantasy with LGBTQ themes .

The narrator is great and did a really good job of portraying the characters with individual character voices and emotion.
