Sandcastle Inn is a wonderful romance novel with excellent characters. It also is a solid Christian fiction read. I love travelling to Hope Harbor even if it’s only through book.

I could not wait to go back to Hope Harbor in this novel and snuggle Floyd and Gladys. Okay, so maybe snuggle is the wrong word to choose, But I definitely was ready for Charley and his wisdom(plus tacos).

Though this is part of the Hope Harbor series, it is also a stand-alone title. You might see some old friends in it that you’ll recognize if you’ve read the other books, but you won;t be lost if you haven’t.

This novel read quickly. The characters were wonderful. The plot was excellent. I loved seeing the characters struggle and feel. They had to make hard choices and overcome a lot. But in the end, they get their happily ever after.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. Sandcastle Inn is the 10th book in the Hope Harbor series by Irene Hannon. While this is part of a series, this is also a great stand alone story with old and new characters. In this story we meet the new owner of the inn, her brother, Matt, and the people who come to help him with the renovation and reopening of the inn. I have enjoyed the entire series, but this is my favorite book so far. I enjoyed how so many needs are met with the renovation of the inn. We meet a carpenter who was forced to close his business and was living in a tent along with his wife, with no income. We meet Vienna, who was affected by company downsizing who has come home to visit her mother and finds there really is no room at her mother’s place. With limited fund to do the reno, Matt comes up with a unique way to help other and get the job done for his sister.

This story is such an inspirational reminder of how God works in so many ways to help us meet our needs. It’s a reminder that He has a much greater understanding of what is best for us and answers our prayers in the way that works best for us. I totally enjoyed this story and hope there are many more like it to come.

Another great book by one of my favorite authors. Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon takes us back to Hope Harbor, a welcoming town that feels like home. This is the 10th book that takes place in Hope Harbor and although this is a stand alone book, it is fun to read about the characters we love. I can almost taste a fish taco from Charley’s stand. Sure wish I could.

This book is about two people visiting their families with no intentions of staying long. Both are dealing with sorrowful situations they had faced recently. Vienna Price was been a workaholic for many years but recently lost her job in the hotel industry. She is in Hope Harbor to visit with her mom. They have always had issues. Her mom, Bev, is a free-spirit and Vienna is a planner and doer.

Matt Quinn is taking a few weeks leave from his Veterinary practice and helping his sister who just bought Sandcastle Inn because she wants to run a bed and breakfast. But Matt sees the large undertaking the restoration is going to be due to the condition of the inn. Seems his sister didn’t think this through.

Vienna doesn’t want to stay in her mom’s one bedroom place so she is trying to work out a deal with Matt to stay at the inn. They evidently decide she can trade off a room for her expertise with constructive ideas for the inn. From there we see a relationship start to form.

A great book that I will read again. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. All comments and opinions are my own.

Life's twists and turns sometimes throw us for a loop. Sometimes, it completely submerges us and we don't know how to get out of the swirling water. Matt and Vienna both find themselves in this swirling water and need somewhere safe to land as they find their way out of life's turbulence. Hope Harbor is just the place. And it provides both of those things - hope for those weary and searching; a harbor of safety to those who need it most. Matt is seeking a rest while Vienna is looking for a restart. Add in the fish taco selling "philosopher", the bookstore owner "psychologist", and those who need the listening ear these two provide. It all combines to create a small town that anyone would find what they need in.

This was such a fun story. The rehabbing of the inn to a B&B was a unique angle for the story and one that made it such a joy to read. It had the nicest setting - an inn with a lovely view and plenty of seclusion - and just enough intrigue about character backgrounds to keep the interest without it being annoying. I found the characters personalities were just right, engaging yet interesting. I liked the emotional interest that was placed there with all the characters - referring to lost loves, friendships, and future relationships. So much was poured into these characters that I truly found them intriguing.

I would feel confident encouraging others to read this story, including some of the teens that I know that are looking for clean romance stories. This one was a joy to read.

Returning to Hope Harbor is a joy. It was fun to read about people getting second chances or a new start in life. Some of those second chances are not planned but rather surprises. The characters remind us to be open to forks in the road we had planned to travel and unexpected opportunities. There are also some good examples of restoring relationships. A more serious issue is dealing with grief and false guilt.

The romance was well done as Matt and Vienna try so hard to not fall in love. People finding hope for the future are woven well into the idea of restoring an old B&B into a high end inn. Besides new people finding blessings in Hope Harbor, it was good to see old friends from previous novels in the series. Charley, maker of the best fish tacos is so wise and insightful. And I liked being reunited with Floyd and Gladys, two of the friendliest seagulls ever.

Hannon has written a wonderful feel good novel and I recommend it for an encouraging experience.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

We think we know everything about our parents. But do we really?

Vienna and her mother didn't always agree. But when she lost her job, her Mother was the first one she ran to.

Paige had to stand up to her father years ago. It cost her. Her Father also paid the price.

Matt couldn't forgive himself for the past. If he couldn't, how could anyone else?

Vienna, Amy and Matt discovered that nothing is always as it seems.

I have really enjoyed reading all the Hope Harbor books. I can rely on great stories with wonderful characters.

"Sandcastle Inn" by Irene Hannon is a delightful addition to the Hope Harbor series. It offers a heartwarming story about new beginnings, love, and the importance of family. While it's the tenth book in the series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone novel, though returning readers will appreciate the familiar setting and characters. I know I always look forward to the wisdom Charley shares. And I wish it was a real place to visit for vacation 😊
The protagonist, Vienna Price, returns to her childhood seaside town of Hope Harbor after a career setback. Her work situation is all too familiar to several of us that work in the corporate world. Very good lessons shared here. In addition, she is forced to confront her past and her relationship with her free-spirited mother, Bev, Vienna.
Meanwhile, Matt Quinn, a veterinarian escaping his own personal loss, arrives in Hope Harbor to help his sister with her newly acquired but struggling B&B, the Sandcastle Inn. There are enough hints that you know Matt has survived or is trying to survive a tragedy. Vienna's skills and Matt's determination offer a chance to restore the inn, sparking a connection between them along the way.
The novel beautifully portrays the growth of Vienna and Matt's relationship, filled with emotional depth and "meet-cute" moments. Secondary characters like Paige and Andrew, another couple facing challenges, add richness to the narrative.
Fans of the series will be particularly thrilled by the reappearance of beloved characters like Charley, the enigmatic taco maker, and the seagull couple, Gladys and Floyd. If you are new to the series you really can start with any of them. I have read all of them and loved each of them.
If you're seeking a heartwarming escape filled with romance, charming characters, and a touch of small-town magic, "Sandcastle Inn" is a perfect choice.

I requested this book through the Revell Reads blogger program. All thoughts are totally my own and freely given.

First, I truly enjoyed this book. I have read others in the series and enjoyed them also. There were characters from previous books and we met new characters. All were a delight to get to know or reacquaint with.

The main characters were quite well-developed. The story flowed well and kept my interest. It was not hard to figure out how it would end, but that really didn't matter as how they got there was the interesting part.

This is a Christian genre book, light on Christian so if you're worried about a preachy book, don't be. The characters did attend church and they did pray occasionally, but that was about the extent of it being Christian other than it was clean.

I read and reviewed an ARC copy and the editing was very well done. Just a couple of small errors that in no way detracted from the book. I give this a solid 4 out of 5-stars and would recommend it to my friends.

Vienna grew up in a single parent household with a mother who was a free spirit. Vienna craved stability in all areas of her life. After college, she had a successful career and literally gave it her everything. But, then, she was let go and her job given to someone else who, rather than burning the midnight oil at work, hung out outside the office with coworkers. How would Vienna have ever known that would go so much further than working all hours and taking no time off?
She decided to take some time and go visit her mother in Hope Harbor. She and her mom used to vacation there in years past. Now, her mom has moved there and opened a book store. While Vienna loves her free spirited mother, she knows she cannot stay in her apartment with her and that this cannot be a lengthy visit.
Then, there's Matt Quinn a veterinarian from San Diego who has came to Hope Harbor to help out his sister, Kay. Kay has recently purchased a B&B that needs a ton of work. Kay is going to help out a friend of theirs, Cora, who they consider family, during a surgery. Matt is in Hope Harbor, both to help his sister with the B&B renovations that are due to begin, and a get-away. Matt has suffered horrific loss and tragedy and his partner encouraged him to take some time off.
A series of events end up throwing Matt and Vienna together to work on the Inn restoration. As for Vienna's relationship with her mom...well, sometimes things aren't as we had thought, and people change over time.
This is book ten in the Hope Harbor series, but is great as a stand alone. Love this series! Great seeing Charley, the taco maker and the seagulls, Gladys and Floyd!
Great story with great characters. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!
I was given an advanced ecopy of this by the publisher, Revell through Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.

🔢 10th in a series, can be a stand alone
✝️ Christian romance
🪦 grief and loss

Matt and Vienna find themselves temporarily in the same small, coastal Oregon town. He is taking a mental health leave from his San Francisco vet practice, and she is regrouping after losing the hotel job for which she was a workaholic. They both have family, he a sister and she a mother, who play an important part in their growth. So begins a VERY slow burn romance. I have to say that this was not my favorite couple from this series. In fact, I was rooting harder for a supporting cast couple: Paige and Andrew who are starting over after losing their business. Their love story, even though they’re already married, is touching and tugs at your heartstrings.

I received this book from NetGalley.

The Hope Harbor series just doesn't get old. WIth every new book, it is like returning to a beloved place to see old friends and meet new ones. This time veterinarian Matt comes to visit his sister, who just bought a run-down inn. He's torn apart with grief from losing both his wife and his daughter two years earlier, but he's still attracted to Vienna, who is visiting her mother after losing her high-powered corporate hotel job. He decides to help his sister renovate the shuttered inn, and she decides to help him update its reputation and ratings to attract new customers once it is finished. The story also includes characters from other books in the series, most notably Charley the taco truck operator and wisdom-dispensing artist.

The story hit all the right notes. It was enjoyable and a fun read, just what I've come to expect from the series. I already can't wait for the next one, if Hannon decides to write one.

“The danger of being too locked into plans is that we can breeze right past forks in the road that could lead to an even better destination than the one we had in mind.”

I am woefully behind on my Hope Harbor reading, but the marvelous thing about this series – and the community it features – is that you feel immediately at home no matter when you stop by for a visit. It was pure joy to spend time again with Charley (the enigmatic town sage known for his mouthwatering fish tacos) and Floyd & Gladys (the lovebird sea gulls who seem to be just as sentient as Charley) – all three of whom are quite possibly my favorite recurring fictional characters of all time. It was also pure joy to become acquainted with the new cast of characters for Sandcastle Inn.

Vienna is the complete opposite of her free-spirited mother, so she’s anticipating lots of clashes during their time together in Hope Harbor. While I could totally understand Vienna’s frustration with her mom’s apparent flightiness over the years, I also loved the joy and warmth that Bev exuded in this story and how Vienna begins to see her mom through new eyes. Another unexpected surprise for Vienna during her stay in Hope Harbor is the sparks that flare to life between her and Matt Quinn, another visitor to this unique town. I could feel the electricity tangibly leaping off the page whenever they shared a scene which (fortunately for all of us) was a frequent occurrence. The divine appointment to the timing of their paths crossing (though that first meet cute was a doozy haha) and the growth they each experience during their time in Hope Harbor made me enjoy their love story as much for the emotional layers as the romance. (I know, I know… what is happening to me? LOL)

I know this review is getting overly long but I would remiss if I neglected to mention the side story involving a young couple who are also divinely appointed to be in Hope Harbor when Matt and Vienna are. Paige and Andrew are struggling in the aftermath of a business betrayal and trying to find a fresh start. Their characters, the journey they’re on, and how God works on their behalf really touched me, and I wanted to reach in and hug them tightly on more than one occasion. Kudos to the author for creating two such compelling couples in this story – I can’t imagine Sandcastle Inn without all four of them!

Bottom Line: If you are due for a visit to Hope Harbor, Sandcastle Inn has an opening just for you! Come for the romance and the ocean view, stay for the fish tacos – and of course a chat with Charley. This is such a delightful setting, and the multidimensional characters that Irene Hannon so skillfully writes just add to the engaging dynamic. Subtle-but-meaningful faith themes walk hand-in-hand with sweet & swoony romance and touching plot layers, not to mention the moments of wit and wisdom at the hands of beloved recurring characters. Meeting Vienna, Matt, Paige, Andrew, and Bev (as well as Kay and Cora) was truly a pleasure and I loved how their stories intersected so perfectly as answers to their respective prayers. Already looking forward to book eleven!

Sandcastle Inn is the tenth visit to Hope Harbor and an incredible accomplishment by the author. Keeping readers invested in a location for this long is rare, and yet the quality of the work has not diminished at all.

Vienna only intended to stay a few days after being made redundant from her high flying job. But when an opportunity to revive her resumé presents itself, she decides to stay and oversee the renovation of a dilapidated inn. For veterinarian Matt Quinn, Vienna’s work means he can turn around her impulse buy before she’s bankrupt. But as the attraction between the two grows, Matt finds himself uneasy after being heartbroken once before.

Many of the Hope Harbor regulars come out in this story, from the bickering best friend clerics, to Gladys and Floyd the seagulls, and their wisdom-offering buddy who makes the tacos (Charlie). The romance rolls out organically and includes a suitable amount of angst of both sides. I’ve loved every trip here, and this visit was no different.

I received a copy of Sandcastle Inn from the publisher via NetGalley. The delight in reading it, is all mine.

Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon
(Small-Town Beach Contemporary Clean Romance Set in the Pacific Northwest
Book 10 of 10: A Hope Harbor Novel
Vienna Price never intended to return for more than a passing visit to Oregon and all the bad memories she'd left behind. But when your career tanks, home is where you go to nurse your wounds and chart a new course. Only temporarily, of course--because as much as she loves her quirky mom, anything more than a short stay would drive them both crazy.
A trip to Oregon isn't in Matt Quinn's plans, either, until a perfectly timed appeal for help arrives from his sister. What better place to decompress after a shattering loss than a quiet, seaside town named Hope Harbor? But R&R isn't on the agenda when he arrives to find his sister's new enterprise on life support.
Vienna, however, may have just the skills needed to resuscitate the foundering B&B--if Matt can convince her to hang around long enough to mend an inn . . . and his heart.
This is Matt Quinn and Kay Marshall's story.
This is Vienna Price and mom Bev's story.
The front door opened, and Kay stepped out, shadowed under the large A-frame roof above the entryway at this twilight hour.
Since it was too late to drive away even if that had been an option, he pulled into a parking space, set the brake, and pushed the engine stop button.
She jogged over, waiting to speak until he opened the door and slid from behind the wheel. “I’ve been watching for you.” Her lips tipped up, fine lines feathering at the corners of her eyes as she held out her arms. “Welcome to Oregon on this beautiful June day.”
“Thank you.” He gave her a hug.
Good grief.
What on earth had Kay gotten herself into?
Matt Quinn braked, gravel crunching beneath the tires as his Mazda came to a stop in front of his sister’s new business.
Beachview B&B might be new to Kay, but that adjective didn’t come anywhere close to describing this cedar-shake-covered structure with the whimsical turret on one end.
Slinking home to Oregon with her tail between her legs was the last thing Vienna Price had ever expected to do.
But when all the rules in your carefully planned, by-the-book life got thrown out the window, the familiar tended to beckon.
Braking at the top of Bluff Ave,Vienna cranked down her window, inhaled a lungful of the briny air, and scanned Hope Harbor spread out below.
The soothing ambiance seeped into her pores, dissipating the tension in her shoulders as she drank in the view.
This was exactly how she remembered the charming town from the occasional weekend trips she and Mom had taken here during her growing-up years.
I recommend this book.
Sandcastle Inn by Irene Hannon is a 4 star book.

Sandcastle Inn is a great contemporary Christian romance! Lots of characters made for an interesting read! Matt comes to the town of Hope Harbor to help his sister renovate her newly bought inn. He meets Vienna who is visiting her mom. Sparks fly and romance starts. There is also a side story of Matt’s sister helping an aunt during surgery and a married couple struggling to make ends meet. Great book on the perseverance of marriage as well as new love.

A beautiful novel about hope and a second chance in the seaside town of Hope Harbor.
This is my first time reading this author’s work, and I cannot wait to read more of her novels. Irene Hannon’s Sandcastle Inn is like hearing a testimony and coming to the belief that there is still hope, even amid uncertainties. Sandcastle Inn, the tenth book in the book series titled A Hope Harbor Novel, has whetted my appetite to read all the preceding standalone novels in this series.
Welcome to the town of Hope Harbor, Oregon, a beautiful place that has a way of making you want to stay forever. Meet Vienna Price, a young woman who has lost her job and is in town from Denver to visit her mother, Bev. Will the reunion of these two opposite women spark a flame of togetherness or create a wedge between them?
Then there is also a new person in town, Matt Quinn, a burnt-out veterinarian from San Francisco who volunteers to take care of his sister Kay’s inn, Beachview B&B. The introduction of two other main leads added depth to the novel. Paige and Andrew Thompson, natives of Portland, are a struggling couple who have suffered the devastation of a betrayal leading to the loss of their livelihood. What should be a short period of respite for these four people, who have all lost significant things in their lives, ends up being a new beginning through the remodelling of Beachview B&B to Sandcastle Inn.
What really struck me throughout the novel was the message of hope. I could identify with Vienna because she had lost her job and did not know what to do. I could also identify with Andrew and Paige, being at the end of their rope and not being sure whether to hope for a hand to help or fall into despair. This novel will encourage anyone who is going through rough times and needs to be reminded of the goodness of God in times of adversity.
For first-time readers of Irene Hannon, like me, grab and read this book. You will love it.

Sandcastle Inn, taking place in Hope Harbor is a masterfully written story of new beginnings, forgiving oneself, healing, and finding new love. Book ten in the Hope Harbor Series by Irene Hannon was a story that I only planned to begin last night. You know, meet the main characters, see what the problems were, then put it aside until the next day. I found it to be entirely too difficult to put down.

The inn needs many repairs which parallel so well with the characters who also needed some in their lives. Matt and Vienna are crossroads in their lives when they meet. Loss and grief have overwhelmed Matt, but Vienna has struggles too. Wonderful story with a subplot of a married couple also having difficulties that they did not bring on themselves any more than Matt and Vienna did. Charley’s words of wisdom will speak to your heart as much as it to the hearts of the characters. You can count on Irene Hannon giving the reader beautiful stories with unforgettable, loveable characters in the Hope Harbor series. I highly recommend Sandcastle Inn.

Matt expects his visit to Hope Harbor to be a time to relax - but on arrival at his sister's B&B, he finds it in serious need of renovation - and his sister short on money. He's got a month to fix the place up while she goes to care for a friend, because she needs it earning an income. Vienna put her all into her job with a high-end hotel chain, only to find herself out of a job. Visiting her mum in Hope Harbor to lick her wounds for a few weeks opens a door she never expected in helping upgrade a local inn. If they're each willing to be open to God's leading, he has something special ready for them, and for the couple helping them with the work - but can they learn to overlook past failures and set aside future plans to see it?

A delightful, inspiring and moving story. I loved the way the author brought the two couples (well, couple and couple-to-be) together in a way that solved everyone's needs. At the same time, everything worked out so beautifully that I couldn't decide what I felt about it - was it putting 'a God thing' into the story (and things certainly can work that way), or was it stretching things? Ignoring that, though, it's a story of four wounded people with different backgrounds and problems who each learn to overcome what's holding them back and reach for the future - and with a couple of reconciliation threads woven in too. Add in writing that's really hard to put down and a town that welcomes you, whether you're new to the series or not, and you've got a definite winner. I loved it and am already eager for my next visit to Hope Harbor - which definitely lives up to its name. Recommended.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

This is the way Christian Fiction should be written. It was a clean romance, with God at the center, but no preachy feeling to it. The characters felt like real people with real life happening to them - good and bad.

The setting was one of my favorites - an Inn at the beach. I do hope her next book will take me back there.

This was Hope Harbor #10, but it seemed like a stand alone to me. I have not read the others, but now I want to go back and catch up on the others in the town.
