This was a great Easter and lent resource. Short daily readings, reflections and study questions from the great theological mind of Tom Wright. Would recommend to all Christians and churches

I have to confess that I have never read N.T. Wright’s ‘academic’ publications, but his ‘For Everyone’ books are just that; for everyone. Tom Wright has the knack of presenting concepts and ideas in a way which is thoughtful, knowledgeable and insightful but manageable for anyone, from the academic to the lay person with only the most basic of understanding of the Christian message.

This book, based on its structure and title, is obviously intended to be read on a daily basis through the season of Lent and Easter. It provides a guide though the major concepts of this time using short scripture passages and a related teaching for each day. I may have made this sound dry a dry sort of read – it is anything but: it is accessible and enlightening and truly excellent. The problem is that each section is so good that rather than pause and reflect, you are drawn to continue to the next day’s reading, but that can hardly be considered a negative point!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC. Tom Wright brings his characteristic clearl writing style and insight to this volume. It's a great devotional and preaching companion for the Easter and Lent periods.

Lent and Easter for all starts with a clear description of the purpose of the Christian season of Lent, and the importance of Easter following after. Each day's readings consist of Tom Wrights own fresh translation of the New Testament, followed by a reflection and questions for our own reflection on the text. His deep immersion both in first century culture and in the day-to-day life of the modern Anglican church shine through.
There are two ways of reading books, for information, and for transformation. Reading for information can be fast, considering the arguments, taking in many points, intellectual learning. The second way of reading is to read slowly, short passages, see which phrase jumps out at you. Allowing the words to raise questions and challenges, heart learning and transformation. This book is intended for slow meditative reading, and does an excellent job of combining up to date scholarship with age old truths of the Christian life. I have read it through rapidly, and am now reading meditatively. An excellent book for all.

Tom Wright at his best, this book goes deep but is also easily understandable and the illustrations and stories relatable. I appreciate that the Bible verse is printed in the book not just the reference. Also loved the reflection and discussion questions at the end of each days reading.

I an excited to read through this again slowing during this lent period, it feels like a great way to stay focused on God and go deeper this Easter.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Tom Wright at his very best. There isn’t a book where Rom Wright doesn’t nail it for me. This is a great direction of the Easter story starting with the period in the wilderness and leading through to the Word made flesh. Tom Wright gives an explanation of each passage of scripture and grounds it in examples that are relatable. The questions or areas for reflection and discussions are very useful steers for a home or bible group.
