This was an interesting take on Arthurian legends. I think that the art style is underwhelming, but I did find the story to be engaging.

A really fun Camelot re-telling, with Isabel Greenberg's characteristic storytelling, where one story is not full till you understand another. We get a feminist spin on the classic King Arthur story in this, with Greenberg adding her own elements to the story. It feels both familiar and unique, which means it easily grabs your attention. The overall pacing of the story it also really quick, meaning that this is an easy book to pick up in an afternoon. Especially if you like magic and adventure.

This does not translate well to ebook format. The text is too pixelated. I also wish it was in color? I think it would give the book a better life if in color. I tried scrolling thru to get a gist of the story. Seems interesting wish I could’ve actually read it.

Young Hag grew up hearing stories about dragons and wizards and magical quests. She has always wanted to be a part of the adventure. However, ever since the door to the Otherworld had been closed, magic has ceased to exist in Britain. But when tragedy strikes Young Hag and her grandmother, maybe she doesn't want anything to do with magic after all.

When a Changeling crosses their path, Young Hag has no choice but to accept that magic exists. And that maybe, it might be up to her to eventually bring it back to Britain.

Thanks to ABRAMS Kids and NetGalley for an advanced copy of Young Hag and the Witches' Quest by Isabel Greenberg to review! This is a King Arthur-based graphic novel, filled with magic, quests, and lots of storytelling. If King Arthur is your jam, this book might just be your thing!

I wasn't necessarily a huge fan of the art style. I do think it fits the overall tone of the story, it just wastn' my favorite thing. It's not super detailed, though it feels like it fits the time period that this is set in.

All in all, if you like fast-paced fantasy graphic novels, this might just be for you!

The tone of this was not quite what I was looking for. I found the story difficult to be interested in and ended up DNFing.

I’m not able to review this book at this time. As other reviewers pointed out, the quality of this digital ARC is very poor. Only with great effort am I able to read the text.
The black and white images doesn’t bother me but I would love to see how this will look in color. I’m still interested in reading this one and have put in an early request with my local library.

Preemptively giving this one 5 stars because based on the synopsis and what I’ve seen so far I think I will end up loving it.

I'm sorry, but the text is too pixelated for me to read without getting eyestrain and a headache. I don't suppose you have a higher-quality eARC (maybe a social DRM pdf file) available to reviewers? Otherwise I'll just wait until the release date and borrow a copy from my library. Thanks in advance.

DNF, as others have said, the digital ARC is nearly impossible to read. Publisher warned that the ARC would be in black and white, not the final product colors, which I was fine with until I saw how pixelated the text and images are and everything was increasingly hard to parse out.

If there is an update to the ARC file, I will revisit this and be able to actually review content. I'd rather not leave stars for this book since I cannot know the actual quality, but NetGalley requires it to post the review, so three stars in anticipation.

The art looks like it's going to be super cute!

Middle grade graphic novel with an interesting twist on the Arthurian legends. Good characters and plot.

I had issues with reading this one due to resolution of the scans. However, I sloshed through it and enjoyed what I could see. The illustrations were really pretty, and I think I would have enjoyed reading this more if the scans were clearer!

I am eager to actually read this book; unfortunately the ARC is too low resolution to read the text at all and only available via the app. Isabel Greenberg's art looks like it is in classic form (though also it appears that the ARC I received is not a completed version of the art either).

unfortunately the arc is so grainy and low quality its impossible to read! from what i can see of the art style its lovely, and im very intrigued about reading it so hopefully the arc is upgraded, or otherwise i’ll be waiting for the release! :)

A creative and unique spin on the classic Arthurian tale with a feminist spin. Our main character here is the Young Hag instead of Arthur, and this story unfolds quite differently than the other Arthurian tales I've heard before. I think it was a really creative storyline. The art style is crude, in a seemingly intentional way, and just ends up fitting the story in an ironic way. The story also seemed to have a nice fast pace which I really enjoyed for this graphic novel. Overall it was just one of those easily digestible stories that grabs your attention and you want to know how it ends.

I received an earc copy from Netgalley. The e-arc upload was unfortunately terrible quality so it was hard to get the full effect since some of it's blurry and hard to make out the words and the art was only in black and white but I still enjoyed it despite that.

I attempted to read about half of this on two different devices, and unfortunately the eArc is almost unreadable. The resolution is so terrible in the Shelf app, and there isn’t any other way to access it.

However, from what I DID read, this story was really fabulous and up my alley. I will wait til the published version comes out to read it in full because the print is making my head hurt, but I am giving this a high rating regardless as I don’t want to fault the title for this issue!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this eArc copy!

In classic Greenberg style, this is a take on an old story - in a totally fresh and original way. Set many years after the events of King Arthur's court, the story is told by people who lived it - in a time when their own lives have already become myth. It's rooted in the female perspective, and leans into the magic of the world. There are goblin markets, giant cats, lady knights and magical witches. I loved this. A great addition to the YA graphic novel canon by an incredible British talent.

sad to say that the advanced copy is almost unreadable. the text is not only small, but also in low resolution that make dizzy bc I need to squint so hard to read it. but I'm really intrigued to read it so maybe I'll wait for the published edition
