I Remember Paris by Lucy Diamond is a wonderful story about an artist, Adelaide Fox, and her would-be biographer Jess. They are both forced to face up to their pasts: Jess lived in Paris years before and left without closure, and Adelaide harbours many grudges and secrets. This is such an engrossing story and I loved the details of Jess' girl's characters, and Adelaide's dog Jean-Paul. A great summer read!

This book carries such a beautiful story, so much so I didn’t want it to end as I was so invested in the delightful well written characters.

Adelaide Fox is an elderly famous artist who lives in Paris with her beloved dog Jean-Paul, who has decided to reveal all in her life memoir –a life steeped in scandal and intrigue.

Jess, a freelance journalist and a recent single mum to 3 girls, is commissioned to travel to Adelaide’s Paris home and write the memoir, a place she once lived a long time ago. Unbeknown to her she is the wrong Jess and Adelaide has reservations whether she is up to the job. It’s a dream job for Jess, who jumps at the chance of such a prestigious opportunity - but it turns into a stormy working relationship as Adelaide is quite a difficult lady who is using her book to settle old scores.

The story covers events from the past for both characters. Including Adelaide’s ex-husband and estranged best friend Margie and Jess’s ex-boyfriend who she still holds a flame for.

This was a brilliant read and I really enjoyed the growth of the characters. It carries a message of accepting the past and moving on, but also forgiveness and second chances for the future.

Highly recommended 5*

Jess is a separated mother of three girls trying to bounce back after losing her agony aunt magazine column. An amazing opportunity arises when she is asked to ghost write the memoirs of the famous artist Adelaide Fox and to revisit the country where she lived some of her younger years. Nervous but excited, she sets off on her journey to Paris to meet Adelaide.
Adelaide is a fiery, unreceptive lady who is hiding secrets. It becomes apparent that she has never dealt with some of the difficulties she faced and decisions she made. Furthermore, she is not going to allow Jess to challenge her on them easily. Jess becoming more intrigued and invested in Adelaide’s life story stands her ground. This helps Adelaide to find an acceptance of the past and allows her to move forward and enjoy her life again.
Bars, restaurants and the sights of Paris set the scene for this both heartbreaking and heart-warming novel. Although I felt it to be a slow burner at the beginning, it soon turned into a page turner as I got further into the life experiences of Adelaide. It’s definitely a good holiday read!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Lucy Diamond for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

A truly fabulous read. A completely captivating story with a huge dash of intrigue mixed with romance and rediscovery of the past and the self. I loved every page and couldn’t wait to see how it ended. The writing style draws you into the web woven by the characters, making you want more. Great read.

What a lovely book. Not your typical romance book. But one that focuses on journalism, being a single parent and trying to enjoy life along the way.

It was beautiful the way the story revealed itself. There were lots of flashbacks along the way as our journalist starts to interview a famous artist for her memoir.

But our journalist shouldn’t be there. Can she persuade the family to let her stay and finish the job?

Jess is a freelance writer who is on the lookout for more work when she is thrilled to be asked to Paris to ghost write the autobiography of Adelaide Fox, a renowned artist. Leaving her three teenage daughters with her separated husband, David, she sets off to Paris.
Things do not start well. Adelaide is a cranky and bad tempered and does not take to Jess. But with Adelaide's nephew, Luc's help, gradually Adelaide begins her story.
A bit of a slow start but I did like the characters and cared what happened to them..

A wonderful story full of the wonder of Paris and the adventure of life as an artist in England in the 50's and 60's. Jess tries to please everyone, and Adelaide is the opposite. So working together to write Adelaide's memoirs is never going to be smooth sailing. Together they bring out each others best and worst while exploring their pasts and discovering things may not have been the same as they remember them. Full of great characters and interesting back stories, this is another good one from this author.

Having read Lucy Diamond’s books before, I was excited to see what this once had to offer and wasn’t disappointed.

It was fun, heartfelt, descriptive and transported you to the story so you felt like you were in Paris too.

Was it a little predictable? Yes. Did I mind? Not at all because it was a feel good book but with a bit of depth to it too.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Unfortunately I didn't really get on with this book, I really struggled to like any of the characters and it just didn't retain my interest so it was a bit of a chore to finish it. I wanted to like this so much but, for me, it just fell short.

I Remember Paris

Lucy Diamond

Lucy is an auto-buy author for me, I can't think of a book written by her that I haven't liked.

I devoured this beautiful story following Adelaide Fox, a renowned British artist now living in Paris wanting to find someone to write her memoir, and Jess who gave up a promising career as a journalist to raise her three daughters, in their teens now and no longer need mum as much. When Jess gets an invite from Adelaide to visit her in Paris, she thinks this could be her second chance at the career she gave up.
Although things get off to a bit of a sticky start as this Jess is the wrong Jess, but the mistake is made and the women see if they can make a go of things anyway.
We travel to the past with Adelaide’s memoir and whilst Adelaide relives her life and loves, Jess is also remembering a time when she lived in the beautiful city of Paris.
I absolutely loved this story, the characters Lucy writes so well it makes you want to know everything about them.
The descriptive writing of both Kent and Paris made me feel as if I was with Jess. I like the fact that Lucy writes about second chances and the book is based purely on romance but there are relationships that are built in later life that can become some of the most important relationships, and that no matter where you are in life there is alway room for more friendships and self discovery and it’s never too late.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Jess is a single mom of three recently separated from her husband, who is ready to restart her career. She agrees to take part in writing a memoir for Adelaide Fox. Adelaide is an artist who wants to tell the story of her life in her own words getting revenge on whoever has crossed her over her 70+ years.

The book takes you on a trip down memory lane into Adelaide’s past that also allows Jess to do the same.

This is one of my all time favourite authors so I couldn’t wait to get stuck into reading and an added bonus was that it was set in Paris which is one of my favourite places to read about and also a place that I personally love.

The author takes the reader on a journey through the streets of Paris and makes you feel like you are there and I loved the story of Jess the journalist and her quest to find out Adelaide’s story and how both characters have to face there pasts to allow them to love forwards.

This was a beautiful and emotional read and had me captivated from the beginning.
