After being made redundant from her job as a book scout for a film company (who knew that there was such a thing?) Evie travels to Santorini to help her grandmother with her bookshop. There she is convinced to take date her grandmother's landlord's grandson Georgia's to help prevent him selling the bookshop due to unpaid rent.
Yet again we have a bookshop that I'd love to spend time looking around - especially as it has a bar and, even better, dogs to make a fuss of. I could certainly relate to Evie and her dislike of too much social contact and Georgios has human failings despite his "Greek God" appearance. Although the Santorini setting, and especially the food, are an important part of the story the real star is the bookshop, a real reader's dream. There are plenty of twists and turns in the plot just to ensure that things don't go too smoothly.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

I LOVED this book. It was just the escapism I was looking for - light, fun, romantic and all set in a sun-soaked bookshop: heaven!

Evie was endearing and relatable. Her love for the written word really caught my attention and made me want to see her succeed. Georgios was charming and believable as a love interest for such a self-admitted introvert.

Aside from the romance element of this story, I adored the relationship that Evie had with her grandmother. In fact, Floretta was my favourite character in the whole book. She was wild, free, funny, pushy and of somewhat suspicious morals. She was fun to read and ended up being the glue that held the whole story together.

The author did a great job of capturing the beauty of the setting and transporting me there as a reader. I felt the lightness of the atmosphere around them throughout the story.

My favourite part of this book was the meta nature of the story. The fact that there was almost a breaking of the fourth wall at various points in the story made me chuckle and gave me a real thrill. I loved that Evie kept calling out fake-dating as a trope even though she was engaging in it herself. My favourite of these moments was a reference to the potential plot of a second book in the series, and it really got my hopes up that the author will continue writing about these characters.

A summer romcom that whisks you away to the sun, sea and sand of Santorini.
Evie is in a job she's always wanted in Hollywood, working with books, what more could she want? However, when she gets made redundant and her gran is in a spot of bother, everything changes and she finds herself in Greece.

This book is great for those who want to feel like they've been transported somewhere else and anyone who like the fake dating trope as well. Not only that but it's ideal for bibliophiles as the business idea made me want to visit! An easy read with a sweet romance, friendship, familial ties and some unexpected parts here and there as well.

Evie has just lost her job as a book scout for a Hollywood film company when her family finds out her gran Floretta just opened a book shop in Santorini after marrying for the ninth time, so Evie`s mother is worried about Floretta and sends Evie to spy on her.
On arriving on the island Floretta is arguing with the landlord and Evie is told she can`t afford the rent so could Evie fake date the landlords son Georgios who also happens to be drop dead gorgeous.
The scenery is fantastic and having rescue dogs to pet while reading just makes it perfect.
My only complain was all the things the gran had got up to was a bit unbelievable and unnecessary to the story
A good story with likeable character's.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC and I give my honest review.

I do look forward to new releases from Rebecca Raisin as I can rely on a gorgeous story that will leave me feeling warm and fuzzy. Summer at the Santorini Bookshop delivered on every level and had me laughing out loud as the story went from each drama to the next crisis.
The opening scenes gave me genuine envy as I discovered my ideal job. As someone who casts books as she reads, I would love to read books with a view to seeing them recreated for the screen. Alas, it also became a dream for our heroine, Evie, as she soon finds out that she’s being made redundant.
The action then shifts from Hollywood to the Greek Island of Santorini and the hectic world of Florette, Evie’s octogenarian grandmother. I absolutely loved Florette and her catalogue of deceased ex-husbands, they were a rich source of comedy, and I loved reading their stories. Of course, there was the added craziness from Evie’s legal-eagle mother and Evie’s Broadway star sister.
At its core, this is a fake-dating story, but it is filled with hilarious moments. The focus was not just on the dating, but also on the creation of the bookstore, in all its glory, and on the fabulous rescue dogs that Florette adopted.
With a fantastic supporting cast, this book cannot fail to entertain, and the funny moments came along thick and fast. I’m not going to single out anyone in particular as I’ve already mentioned that Florette was my star of the show, but there are plenty of quirky individuals to ensure that there is never a dull moment.
I can certainly imagine this book as a screen play and would love to see the bookshop, Bibliotherapy, and the additional spaces come to life. I defy you not to feel the same after reading this gem of a book.

Sorry (and I rarely say this) but I didn't love this book. The story in itself was OK - a rom-com with quite a good story line, set in a great part of the world with some lovely characters and quite a twist or two in there. However, it was the style of writing that disappointed me. Things seemed to jump around a lot - one minute, they would be talking about something and in my opinion, hadn't finished with that topic at all, then the next line would be going onto something completely different. I also found the lack of continuity an issue (but maybe that is just me?!). But how can he have a dog in his arms one minute, then throw his arms down by his side (where did the dog go?!) then they step towards each other, each with a dog in their arms?!! Sorry, but it really just didn't flow for me.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review which is clearly what I have given!

An easy book to read and I settled into it quickly. The characters all had charm especially Gran who was funny as well. What a place to run a bookshop!!! Idyllic. Rebecca does write some lovely books. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Evie is on a mission in Santorini. Having been sent there by her mum and sister, to keep an eye on their Grandma, who has relocated there and bought a bookshop. All sounds pretty idyllic apart from the fact that Evie's Gran is in a lot of debt, and her husband seems to have gone AWOL (that's her ninth husband by the way).

Desperate to save the bookshop, Evie and her Gran cook up a plan to seduce the landlord's son and keep him distracted from the debt. But as you would expect, Evie find herself falling for handsome Georgios. Will she tell him the truth, or will their holiday romance ends in tears?

Summer at the Santorini Bookshop is full of surprises, from the nine husbands to the fact that the previous eight dies in suspicious circumstances and Evie's Gran seems to have a very shady past! It stops the book from being your standard holiday romance story, as you never know what's coming around the next corner!

A thoroughly enjoyable read, a refreshing slant on the genre.

I love reading Rebecca Raisin's books and this is the fifth book I have read written by her!

Evie loses her job as a book scout in Hollywood as her new boss believed that the romance genre is over-hyped and that people need to see more action movies. When Evie heard that her grandmother had opened up a bookshop in Santorini, Evie takes the chance and flies over to Santorini. Evie's mother and sister are suspicious of the grandmother's current ninth husband and asks Evie to dig more about grandmother. Meanwhile, Evie's grandmother and the landlord of Evie's grandmother's bookshop are both at wit ends with each other and Evie's grandmother asks Evie to fake date the landlord's handsome grandson Georgios. But soon, their fake dating might turn into something more...

I love reading Rebecca Raisin's book and I would like to take the opportunity to thank Harper Collins for the invitation to review this book. I get lost into her books and feel like the part of the book. This book also made me feel the same way. I instantly liked all the characters even the main characters, Evie and her grandmother. There were some funny parts in the book which will make you laugh out loud. The descriptions in the book make me think of myself being in Santorini and I like how the author managed to draw the reader into the story. The stunning sceneries of Santorini made me imagine myself in Santorini as well. This was actually a good romance book, particularly this is a great book to read during the summer. I give this book five stars.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

This was a fun book to read. The setting of Santorini was of course beautiful. A real burst of sunshine. The character of Gran was the best, a quirky, zany over eighty year old who was still loving life. The fake dating story line was interesting and the ending satisfying! A good holiday read.

Reading Summer at the Santorini Bookshop is like being wrapped in the coziest of blankets.

It's no secret that I am a HUGE fan of Rebecca Raisin's books. She is one of my insta-buy authors. Her books are always the perfect pick-me-up reads, and this book is no exception. This story charmed my socks off. I found myself falling fast and hard for this book. So what makes this book so damn wonderful. First is the setting. Santorini is a magical, breathtaking island and the perfect location for a romance story. Rebecca perfectly captured the island's beauty with lush and vivid descriptions. All the people, culture, and food came to life in this story, and I felt like I was back on this island. I might have also been checking out vacation packages to Santorini because I wanted to return to this so much after reading this book. We also got to spend time in a bookshop that just sang to my soul. I could visualize this bookshop, with all its gorgeous colours, the bright sun shining through the windows, and all the pups running around. It was paradise.
The character that stole the spotlight in this book was Gran. She is delightful, spunky, and just so full of life. I adored everything about her. In this book, she is married to husband number nine, who is MIA in this story. I LOVED hearing all the stories of how her past husbands tragically and bizarrely died. I could sit down all day and listen to her stories. She has lived such an interesting life. Her character was unpredictable. You had no idea what she was going to do or say. It made for such a fun reading experience. The rest of the characters added charm and humour to the story. Everything just worked beautifully together. All the quirky dogs that Gran had adopted were utterly delightful. They added that charming comic relief to the story.

Evie is a bookworm and prefers to spend her time with books rather than people. She hates being in crowds and really underestimates her self-worth at times. Bookworms will connect with Evie's character and her passion for the written word. She is a fan of romances, and all of the reasons why she loves romance books are the same reasons why I love this genre. I connected with her so easily. Evie's growth in this book happens in two ways. One is learning to put herself out there and realizing that she can interact with people and even host a large book event. The other way she grows is through her relationship with Georgios. Both MCs are introverted bookworms who hide away from their emotions. It takes some not-so-subtle nudging from Gran to get these two to be brave enough to open up their hearts to one another.
The overall story has this fun, charming vibe to it. It's an incredibly easy book to read. I had to stop myself a couple of times because I didn't want to read this book too fast because that would mean it would be over too quickly. There are lots of funny moments, usually centred around Gran or the pups. But Evie also can get herself into a pickle sometimes, and she has this wonderful tendency to overthink things. Basically, she thinks everything is going to either kill her or cause her bodily harm. She reminds me of Rosie (from Rosie's Travelling Tea Shop). Even though there are a lot of fluff and light moments in this book, there are still some deeper, quiet moments where these connections between the characters really shine, especially between Evie and her Gran.

The romance is very sweet. The love story between Georgios and Evie is a lovely blend of fake dating and forced proximity. It also has this "don't judge a book by its cover" feel to it. Evie is instantly attracted to Georgios and thinks he is this Greek god who might also be a womanizer because of his looks. But she realizes that even though Georgios is drop-dead gorgeous, he is incredibly shy and doesn't know how to interact with women romantically. It's adorable. I loved these two. Their love for books really draws them together. It was incredibly heartwarming watching these two open up with each other and share their dreams and fears.

Summer at the Santorini Bookshop is Rebecca Raisin at her best. This book is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Evie is a book scout, working in Hollywood. Suddenly finding herself redundant, she is asked to fly out to Santorini to check on her crazy 83 year-old grandmother.
Evie quickly settles into life on the island. Working in a clifftop bookshop with a view and a bar at night, surrounded by dogs, sounds like the perfect life.
Evie's gran is in trouble though and asks Evie to fake date handsome Georgios to help her solve her problems.
This is a light read, somewhat predictable, but the perfect holiday read.
The only reason I dropped a star is because I found Evie somewhat irritating. One of those lead characters you want to take by the shoulders and shake!

This book has everything needed for a great story - a lovely independent bookshop, a gorgeous Greek island and an eye-catching man, whom Evie, who has come to Santorini to help out her grandmother in her bookshop, fake dates without him noticing. The twist on this scenario is hilarious! They go fly boarding, sailing, swimming and eat a lot of lip smacking Greek food. I've been to Santorini, and it's the prettiest island.

This is a quick, fluffy, clean read with a beautiful cover and quirky, loveable characters, especially Evie's feisty grandmother Floretta, who is presently on husband no. 9. She calls her literary cafe Epeolatry - the worship of words. There, you've learnt a new word.

The love for books is evident throughout - when Evie discusses her grandmother's husbands who apparently have all met a sticky end, Floretta says
‘This isn’t a cosy mystery, Evie. Sometimes I think books have addled your brain.’

We also get this very true statement:
‘Romances set in bakeries, cafés, chocolate shops, pop-up tea vans, that kind of thing. They really should have snack warnings on the cover.’
(Rebecca Raisin of course has written one or two of those....)

I think book 2 is cleverly set up at the end with these words:
'If this were a book do you think there’s a chance I’ll find love in the sequel?’ She gives me a hopeful smile. ‘Every chance. You’d be the heroine in book two and I’ll be your trusty sidekick.’

Then the author even writes her own review:
"And this book has real promise. It just might make it all the way to the screen. A fun fake-date trope – what’s not to love? I have high hopes it’ll be a fan favourite." 🤭

The other day I read a novel situated in Skye, today it's Santorini - for an all-out holiday can someone find one situated in the Seychelles for me please? 😁

4.25 stars

Evie has just been made redundant from her job as a book scout. When she hears that her grandmother has taken over a bookshop in Santorini and has problems with her landlord, Evie decides to visit her to see what the state of affairs is. Upon arrival Evie’s grandmother asks her to fake date the landlord’s son to stop him closing the bookshop but all is not as it at first seems!

This is a fun, entertaining and easy if somewhat predictable read. I loved the idea of the Bibliotherapy and Epeolatry, a bookshop and literary bar/club on the cliffs, and who wouldn’t love to rent-a-dog to cuddle whilst reading a good book in such an idyllic setting?! I thought Gran was a zany and quirky character - she could give Bluebeard a run for his money! 😱😄 However, I did find Evie quite immature and irritating - she acted like a teenager sometimes. There is some humour but it’s a little slapstick at times. Overalll, it’s an enjoyable and engaging read, good for escaping from the rigours of every day life. Great for relaxing with in the Epeolatry whilst sipping one of their delicious literary cocktails! 🍸🍹. Bottoms Up! Hiccough.

I'm dreaming of my summer escape to Santorini and finding a bookshop to explore!

Evie has been made redundant at her Hollywood job as a book scout. Her adventurous grandmother has gotten herself in trouble and in over her head with her new bookshop, so Evie sets out to help. She enters the world of beautiful Santorini but it's not all it seems to be, but it might be just what Evie needs.

A light romantic read that will have you daydreaming of Santorini and keep you smiling.

I really loved this book, it should definitely be on everyone's holiday list, soaking up the sun whilst immersing yourself in the story.

Evie works in Hollywood, looking for romantic books that can be turned into blockbuster films. She is an introvert and doesn't like Peopling, after her boss retires and sells his studio, she is made redundant as the new owner wants to concentrate on action hero movies.

Evie's mother and sister phone her in a panic as her Grandmother has got married for the 9th time and has got herself arrested in Santorini, and as Evie has no job, they think she should go there and find out what is happening. When she arrives she catches her Grandmother arguing in Greek with the handsome Georgios, grandson of the owner of the bookshop and villa's her grandmother is working/living. Evie's Grandmother cooks up a plan for Evie to Fake date Georgios, whilst she tries to raise enough money to pay the rent before she is thrown out.

Her new husband is nowhere to be seen, and not everything is what it seems, can Evie get to the bottom of what her gran is up to, and discover where her new husband has gone. Can she help her gran keep her bookshop dream alive ?

I would recommend this book as even though some bits are obvious, there is so much more that keeps you guessing, and as Rebecca says in her letter at the end of the book, I did have a mini holiday to Santorini from the comfort of my own home (I just wish it wasn't raining all the time lol)

If you are looking to escape to the sun without actually getting plane, then this could be the book. Set in idyllic Santorini, we meet Evie who on being made redundant agrees with her family to go to Greece to check up on her eccentric grandmother and find out just what she is up to with her latest adventure. The grandmother has had quite a colourful life with her travels and numerous husband's..which is a story in itself. A funny quick paced book that is definitely worth reading. Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy of the book.

What can I say adorable, heart warming, silly and laugh out loud at times. I absolutely loved Gran's character and those lovable rescue dogs.
