Another bookshop in another beautiful country. My last Rebecca Raisin read was in Venice and this one in Santorini makes me want to book a holiday and pack up.

Loved everything about this book, the characters, the setting, the romance and of course the dogs.

I was hooked from page 1 and just loved this story.

Thank you NetGalley and the author for this ARC.

I’ve read a few of Rebecca’s books and loved them. This one was no different. Pure escapism to sunny Santorini. I devoured this book on a weekend morning. Such a lovely read, no spice, fake dating, a fun quirky Gran and lots of dogs! 🐶

A summer switch off read which brings together the charms of Santorini, the confusion in fake dating and a wonderful pack of canine companions.
A trip to the beautiful island wasn't on the cards for Evie...nor was covering up for her colourful Gran! The relationship between the two is lovely, albeit a little frustrating on occasion! Rebecca's characters are memorable as they have depth to them, with the right blend of differences to forge a pathway for the humour to naturally flow.
The introduction of the dogs is brilliant, their little characters shine through and it's great to see how they influence the story in their own way.

Reading about Santorini was so vivid, it left a clear picture in my mind. I enjoy the way Rebecca brings readers along with her to the places she describes so beautifully.

The wonderful thing about a switch off, feel good read such as this is that reality can be suspended as you immerse yourself in the location, the plot and the humour that is so well contained in these pages.

I have been a fan of this Author for years. Her books are entertaining, well written and have believable characters. This one takes us to Greece, the description of the area and the local community are great. I love this idea of having a daytime bookshop/relaxing outdoor area. They are planning a party to celebrate the opening of an evening library where you can drink cocktails and listen to live music. What book lover would not like this! There are family, friendships, local community, rescue dogs and of course romance. I highly recommend this.

✨3 stars✨
First and foremost, this was a quick and easy read which would be perfect for a summer.

I really enjoyed the setting of sunny Santorini especially as when I was reading this I was blessed with the rainy British weather! Also Evie’s gran was definitely the highlight of the book.

However, I didn’t really connect with the protagonist and whilst I enjoyed the book for what it was it isn’t a book that has stuck with me long term.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A light-hearted story ideal for reading on the beach.

When Hollywood book scout, Evie, loses her job, her mother and sister persuade her to go to Santorini to check up on her grandmother who has set up a new bookshop on the island with husband number nine. Filled with eccentric characters, the story conjures up the atmosphere of a Greek summer. Evie fake dating Georgios was frustrating, but a few twists and turns at the end made the story more believable.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fake dating her way to love AND saving her grandmother’s bookshop?!

Evie may need a fresh start, but I’m sure this isn’t what she had in mind - a mercy mission to rescue an 83-year-old woman in Megalochori, Santorini. The push and pull of books may have gotten Evie to Santorini, but can a living Greek God, Georgios, her grandmother’s husband’s grandson, be the cause of her staying? Or the push she needs to get back home and carry one with life?

This one had me laughing out loud at some of the ridiculous antics. Yes, it felt a little OTT, but the bottom line was that I was entertained. Grandma is really quite the character - a free spirit - and the polar opposite of her granddaughter, causing some tension and laugh-out-loud moments. This one had a different feel to it; a pinch less sweetness and a pinch more OTT. Nevertheless, it contained Raisin’s signature style: characters you can see yourself being friends with; people with big hearts who care about others and believe in true love. She’ll make you fall in love with Greece!

The dreamy setting ties it all together and whitewashes it with hope, covering up any far-reaching plot lines. It examined second chances, goodbyes, and learning to “be fierce with a capital F.”

I was gifted this copy by HQ Digital and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Summer at the Santorini Bookshop
by Rebecca Raisin

This story follows Evie who has just recently be made redundant as she travels to Santori to check up on her mischievous 83 year old grannie who has just married for the ninth time on the instructions of her Mother. It follows the escapades of them during the summer.

Some of the story is lovely but at times q bit far fetched and I found myself losing interest.

The description of the scenery makes you imagine your there which is lovely.

A fairly average beach read but not her best in my opinion it falls a little flat in parts whilst trying to hard to be funny. Felt a little let down with this one. 3.5/5

Having just finished another book set in a bookshop this was not quite the book I was expecting when imagining a bookshop in Santorini. I loved the author’s previous bookshop title set in Venice so was perhaps expecting something of a similar feel but just didn’t get the same enjoyment as I have from several of her other titles. It came over as a bit too far-fetched or characters too much of a caricature at times so it didn’t hold my interest throughout and I had to ignore the urge to not finish.
Such a shame, I found myself really disappointed with my reader experience with this book. Normally I would put this down to me not gelling with an author’s style of writing or a story just not being my thing; however, this was a surprise as I have previously enjoyed a lot of her other books, so I’m not sure what the difference is with this book.
The setting is amazing, the shop & library sound fabulous, there’s just something that just didn’t grab me with this book and I’m really sad to give it a lower rating than I was expecting.

"Summer at the Santorini Bookshop" is the sixth book I have read by Rebecca Raisin but, for some reason, I found it rather contrived. It was as if it was trying too hard to be funny but was actually rather farcical. The idea of a bookshop nightclub is also rather weird.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.

Evie works as a book scout for a Hollywood film company. The company has recently been taken over and when her new boss summons her the last thing she expects is to be ‘let go’ since her new boss favours action movies over romance.

When Evie calls to tell her mother her news, she finds herself agreeing to go to Santorini where her Grandmother is currently residing with her new husband (husband number nine!) and make sure all is okay.

When she arrives her Grandmother is having a heated argument with her landlord’s Grandson, Georgios about unpaid rent on the bookshop which her Grandmother runs. In order to buy time to turn the bookshop around and make it profitable Evie’s Grandmother convinces her to fake date Georgios. No easy task given that Evie avoids interaction and social events as far as possible (no mean feat when you work in the film industry!). Can Evie charm Georgios enough to keep his Grandfather at bay?

This was such a sweet book and had a lovely setting which made me want to jump on a plane to get to Santorini.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Escapism at high level, it made me wish I could be in Santorini and kept me smiling and escaping.

Oh how I love Rebecca's work. Rebecca writes the best books about book lovers! It took me a little while to really get the feel for this one but her usual charm shone through!
I loved Gran, she was vivacious and funny and I loved the little reveal at the end, the scheming was entirely plausible!!
Now I need to go hunt for some greek food.... I'm suddenly hungry !
