As someone who’s constantly creating new digital notebooks for some or other purpose (I have to use my IPad for something right) I really suck at making functional layouts. This reading journal does all the work for me, and allows me to keep up with not being only my spiralling Netgally TBR, but also my spiralling physical TBR!

Review: NetGalley Reading Journal

If you’re someone who takes joy in tracking their reading journey—or are simply trying to wrangle your ever-growing TBR (to be read)—the NetGalley Reading Journal is a welcome companion. Created with care by the We Are Bookish team, this free digital PDF is a journal and a celebration of the reader’s experience.

The design is intuitive and cheerful, offering pages for customizable reviews, reading challenges, monthly reflections, and even habit tracking. It's not just about staying organized; it's about reflecting on your reading year in a meaningful, engaging way. The journal encourages creativity while helping you stay on top of your goals, whether you’re chasing a certain book count or exploring new genres.

Its thoughtful layout makes it easy to jump in, even for those new to digital journaling. Pair it with the helpful User Guide and downloadable sticker packs, and you’ve got all the tools you need to make your journal as practical or as playful as you'd like.

Thank you, NetGalley, for providing this journal for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Oops forgot to leave a review for this. I thought this was a cool resource. I think I'd adapt it though for a physical notebook I still don't have quite the feel for keeping ad igital reading journal.

I have never used a reading journal before. I am finding it fun to use. There is still a bit of an adjustment in the beginning. I also really like the extra activities.

I love this Journal. I tried following the steps to use another app to try to use it digitally, but sadly that didn’t work out for me. Printing works for me though. I love all the options included for how to track your reading. It’s fun without being overwhelming.

4⭐️s out 5. 😁👍

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 stars)

A simple and helpful journal for keeping track of ARCs and reviews. The layout is clean and easy to use, which makes it great for staying organized.

I just wish it had a bit more personality—maybe some fun prompts or extra features to make it more engaging. Overall, a solid tool if you want something basic and functional.

I liked how this journal was set up. I loved that it was completely blank with no dates, so I can pick and use it no matter what the time of year is. My favorite aspects include the section that is for audiobook ratings, the ability to add photos, and the challenges in the back, including the A-Z challenge. Overall, I would use this and recommend it to others.

What a unique and interesting reading journal. I thought this was a great idea and nice touch for NetGalley to provide to their reviewers. It is not something I have particularly seeked out for myself in the past, but I do think a lot of people would get great use out of this!

Okay, I have to say—I didn’t realize how much I needed the NetGalley Reading Journal until I started using it. As someone who reads a lot of ARCs and tries to stay organized with reviews and deadlines, this journal has been a total game changer for me.

First of all, it’s beautiful. The layout is clean, simple, and not at all overwhelming. I’ve tried other reading journals before that felt too fussy or too vague—this one strikes the perfect balance. I especially love the space to track what I’ve requested, what I’ve been approved for, and when books are releasing. It keeps everything in one place, which has made it way easier to stay on top of my NetGalley queue.

One of my favorite parts? The review pages. There’s plenty of space to jot down initial thoughts, reactions, standout quotes, and even just messy notes before I write a full review. It makes the whole process feel more enjoyable (and less like homework). Plus, the checkboxes for “review submitted” are super satisfying. 😂

I’ve also started using the monthly wrap-up pages, which I didn’t expect to love—but they’ve turned into a little ritual for me. It’s nice to pause and reflect on what I’ve read, what stood out, and what I want to prioritize next month.

If you're a fellow mood reader or ARC reviewer who sometimes gets overwhelmed by tracking it all, I really recommend giving this a try. It's made reviewing feel more personal and less stressful—and honestly, it’s kind of reignited my love for reviewing.

I love the concept. I had to take my time figuring out how to use it and it's probably the device I am using that's not a great match for the journal so printed version is the only option for me.

This reading journal is perfect for keeping track of your reads! Because it’s a pdf, you can use it over and over again. Perfect for those looking to use a digital or printed reading journal.

I like this, although I don't find the pdf accessible or easy to use without having a printer available.

I really enjoyed using it on my iPad! Loved the Activities pages and Best of the Year brackets. Navigation is really easy to use, and you can use it in whatever year as it's not dated.
