This was a great concept overall and I was invested in what was happening to these characters. I enjoyed the use of animals and the bond they have with the people. Kirk Alex writes a great overall story and it left me wanting to read more, and had a great horror element.

This is definitely a horror book with real horror elements, but as with all the best horror, the real horror comes from the people.
Calder is an odd, solitary person who has already been damaged by the world and its people. Somehow he becomes obsessed with a bird he wants to adopt, even though the bird is... well, more vicious than friendly.
Calder encounters obstacles to his forever after with the bird, and people are shown in their worst light. But it's Calder's sad journey that brings out the maximum horror.
This is a short book but unexpectedly heart-rending

This was a strange yet enjoyable book. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into when I started it, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. It is a lot deeper than I would have originally thought, and will stick with me for a long time I suspect.

A gripping and unconventional tale that delves deep into the complexities of human-animal relationships. The story revolves around Calder, a man who decides to break free from his addiction to television by adopting a parrot. What follows is a rollercoaster of emotions as Calder's life takes a dark and unexpected turn due to his feisty "lovebird."

The author masterfully explores the theme of obsession and the blurred lines between human and animal behavior. The tension in the narrative keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the unexpected twists will leave you pondering the nature of love and connection.
