Counting book with descriptive words that will take some explaining for the younger kids. I'd read it to my 3 year old.

This was a cute book. For a counting book, I thought some of the vocabulary would be a little hard, but it’s a good book if it’s being read aloud to a child.

I will recommend this title for the inclusion of Inuktitut words. However, the art may not hold the interest of young children learning to count. It's awesome that the author has recorded a video of them reading the book, but I don't necessarily anticipate it being a book read in many storytimes. Still, it may resonate with some readers, and provides a valuable perspective and representation that is likely lacking in many library collections.

Beautiful illustrations help young readers learn how to count, while teaching them facts about polar bears at the same time. I will definitely incorporate this book into my storytimes with all ages.

This book is super fun for a little reader! Strong and different adjectives to describe the bears! It is fun to count the bears on the pages!

Thank you to NetGalley and Tundra Books for this DRC.
This is a lovely counting book in Inuktitut and English. I found it to be joyful. I loved the striking and thoughtful art.

This was a fun children's book, but it did not hold the attention of my children for long. We finished it, but neither asked to read it again. They did love all the bears, but the illustrations could use some more color. I can see the creativity behind this book, but it did not capture the attention of my kids very well.

The description of the book seemed interesting, so I wanted to check the story out. Unfortunately, I have since lost my initial interest in the story. I may try and find a physical copy to add the my library when it is released, though, because I think my readers could like it!

This was a unique and fun book that teaches little ones about counting and all about polar bears. The simple and easy to understand text was perfect for my little ones. They loved counting the bears on each page and seeing what new things the bears will do like being strong and proud and dancing. Learning a new language at the same time was even more fun and made the book even more engaging. This is perfect for at home and in an early childhood classroom.

I love polar bears. They are fascinating. This is an informative simple book about them. It was a little too basic and plain to keep my attention though

Tanya Tagaq knows how to do it all; she's an author, singer-songwriter, throat singer, poet, activist, and visual artist, and now children's fiction is added to her resume. In collaboration with another Inuit artist Cee Pootoogook, she writes sweet open verse about Nanuit (polar bears) and teaches young learners to count to ten in Inuktitut. Cee illustrates dozens of hunting and playing polar bears in his traditional art style. It's very sweet and simple, and an excellent book to get your little ones counting in English and Inuktitut.
