Tuned goes to The Complex and meets many other kids with superpowers. They get to know each other as their powers are tried and tested. But things are not right and not even allowed to phone home. They are not safe but can they escape?

Enjoyed this novel written and narrated by Lenny Henry (I listened to the audiobook). The students will be put through their paces but is the woman in charge to be trusted or feared?

A good listen and read, sure you will enjoy.

The boy with wings: clash of the super kids by Lenny Henry.
Wings? Check.A super-cool, super-secret past? Check. An impossible mission to save the world from a super evil enemy? Check. When Tunde’s parents take him to a top-secret testing facility called The Complex, he’s nervous about meeting others like him who have super powers. But trying to make new friends is the least of his worries. There’s something much scarier going on. And it’s going take more than just the boy with wings to stop it . . . Now that flight isn’t an option, the only choice is to fight.
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Loved the cover. I loved Lenny voice. Will definitely be looking at the first book. 5*.

The Boy With Wings: Clash of the Superkids by Sir Lenny Henry narrated by himself was another brilliant book from start to finish, which is the second book in The Boy With Wings series. Tunde the main character recently discovered that he wasn’t just a Black kid from the Midlands with a beaky nose; he was the only boy with Wings! Yes, real wings!” WoW! But trying to make new friends is the least of Tunde's worries. But, there’s something much scarier going on. It’s going take much more than just the boy with wings to stop it . . .

Sit back and listen to this wonderful audiobook.....especially as it was lovely to share this audiobook with my nephew O and to hear him laugh out aloud throughout it. Precious moments. He loved it just like me......I'm a big kid at heart!

“Tunde had recently discovered that he wasn’t just a Black kid from the Midlands with a beaky nose; he was the Boy with Wings! Yes, real wings!”

My thanks to Macmillan Audio U.K. for a review copy of the unabridged audiobook edition of ‘The Boy with Wings: Clash of the Superkids’ by Lenny Henry, who also narrates the audiobook.

This continues the story of Tunde Wilkinson that began in ‘The Boy with Wings’. Henry provides background on Tunde, his parents, and friends though I would recommend reading these books in order for maximum enjoyment.

In this second book Tunde is annoyed that rather than going to the Land of Adventures holiday park with his friends that his parents and Professor Krauss of The Facility have arranged for him to spend his summer at The Complex, a top-secret testing facility, along with other kids with super powers.

Tunde is somewhat nervous about meeting other kids like him though he soon starts making friends. Professor Shapiro of The Complex is keen to work with superhuman kids who could be trained to protect the world. Yet it seems there’s more going on than the superkids or their guardians suspect.

Lenny Henry again proved the perfect narrator for his own novel, bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm to his reading.

While intended for readers aged 9-11, it’s a book and series that is bound to appeal to all ages who admire Lenny Henry’s ability to convey positive messages of inclusiveness as well as tell a fun science fiction adventure.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
