I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Jane Corry’s earlier novels, each constructed around an ordinary and thus believable female character. I was thus initially cautious whether I wanted to read this, her latest novel, as the character at the heart of it, Robbie, is a famous musician. Could a departure from Corry’s winning formula deliver a novel that was just as enjoyable? In two words: it could. The plot switches between different viewpoints in the past and in the present and explores if Robbie is guilty of a hit-and-run, some twenty years earlier, that left a beautiful woman by the name of Janey will life-altering injuries. What will the result of Robbie’s trial be? Will his family stand by him? Jane Corry remains in fine form as this novel takes its place among her fifteen former works. Highly recommended!

This felt like a bit of a return to form for Jane Corry following her previous book, Coming to Find You, which I found a little disappointing.

Centring around a hit and run accident twenty years earlier and the present day consequences, it's an intriguing read which keeps your attention. There's a fairly complex plot with a number of different strands - Vanessa in the present, Vanessa in the past, Robbie in the present, Robbie in the past, Janie in the present, Janie in the past, Judge in the present, Judge in the past. There's an awful lot happening in this story - maybe too much, at times. (I'm not really sure what the "Janie's mum" strand added to the story, for instance.) I'm also unsure what the Tuesday/Wednesday stuff signified - did I miss something? It did feel like the author had just chucked in everything she could think of, leading to a sense of overkill at times.

Anyway, that aside, it's an engaging read, and I do always enjoy a courtroom drama. Vanessa's role as a witness support volunteer was new to me and it was interesting to learn about that. And it's impossible not to feel for her over the Lewis business. It's nice to see an older woman as a main character.

An enjoyable read, even if the pudding felt a bit over-egged. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Penguin General and Jane Corry for my ARC of 'I Died on a Tuesday' in return for an honest review.

i like this author and this was another good read.

The novel is based around Janie White who was run over two decades ago and left for dead. Robbie Manning, a famous rock star is arrested for this some twenty years later and Vanessa, a volunteer witness support officer is set to assist Janie when the court case is heard.

There are secrets and lies all around and each person involved is hiding something. A complex plot which kept me on the edge of my seat.

Good read and recommended

I've read and enjoyed a few of the author's previous novels, I loved Coming to Find You, her last novel and was drawn to I Died on a Tuesday by the title.
What links Janie White, a young woman left with life changing injuries after a hit and run, rock star Robbie Manning and court witness support volunteer, widow Maggie?
I absolutely loved the premise of the novel and it started off so well. I was completely drawn into the stories of the three characters, particularly Maggie, grieving her late husband and the stillborn child she had many decades ago. The first half of the novel worked well and was so compelling and gripping that I felt it was destined to be a five star read. However I did feel that one of the sub plots involving Maggie became slightly ridiculous and the number of characters and coincidences involved by the end of the novel became melodramatic and unbelievable. An promising novel that ended in disappointment.
3.5 stars

Really loved this story and the different mini stories it offered within that then intertwined later down the line.

An eighteen-year-old girl is tragically maimed while riding her bike when a van ploughs into her. She nearly dies and is left severely disabled. Twenty years later a famous pop singer is identified as responsible and prosecuted.
There are also two sub-plots involving a witness support officer and a judge. The author does a good job at creating several mysteries involving these characters and describing them. The prison scenes are particularly effective.
Although the plot is well worked out it did feel rather contrived, unbelievable at times and too sentimental for my taste. A few of the minor characters seemed to be stereotypes.
Despite this, the novel did keep me reading to find out what happened at the end.

This was such an absorbing and gripping read. I was hooked from page one so many twists and turns and the individual characters came to life and were connected throughout! Full of emotion and can honestly say the best book I’ve read for quite a while highly recommend

An exciting, accomplished novel that’s fast paced and would be excellent to read in one sitting if possible. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! Janie is knocked off her bicycle and badly injured- her narrative as she is lying in the road is really convincing and pulls at the heart strings.

Wow wow wow what a fantastic book I was hooked from the first few pages.
The story was just so gripping and I really did not know what was going to happen which is a sign of a well written book. It was full of twists and turns and I just didn’t know what was going to happen next.
I really felt for some of the characters and how decisions they had made had impacted their lives. I also loved the way some of the characters were linked. They were all so complex and intriguing.
A fantastic 5 stars

I love Jane Corey’s books and this one was no exception.

Three main characters tell the story, with their lives all seemingly affected by one accident that changed a number of lives.

Janie White suffers horrendous, life changing injuries that take years of intensive recovery to allow her to tell her story.

Pop star Robbie Manning is hiding a secret from his family, friends and fans that is about to come out.

Vanessa, working as a court support volunteer, is shocked to her core when she receives a letter from the past.

Even when I thought I had guessed where the story was going, another twist shocked me. A great read.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.

Janie White loves her early morning sea swim. With a new adventure on the horizon, she is making the best of the last few chances she will have of indulging in her passion. Soon Janie will be off to London, where she has a new job waiting in publishing, and hopefully that will lead to her writing a book of her own. After leaving the sea and getting on her bike to return home, there is a hit and run accident which results in life threatening injuries for Janie. Despite months and then years of investigation, the perpetrators of such an heinous crime remain unknown.

Fast forward to twenty years after the accident, when music mega star Robbie Manning is not surprised to have the police arrive at his mansion to arrest him for the accident, only that it took them so long to get there. At last, someone is going to be brought to justice.

A flying start to this book had me fully hooked. I liked that the chapters were from the POV of each of the main characters, and the way in which the plot unfurled. Apart from Janie not many of the characters were likeable, even nice girl Vanessa came across as a bit of a drip at times, and a sucker at others!

Unfortunately the story sort of plateaued halfway through and never quite managed to regain its initial momentum. The ending was very abrupt, thought I’d missed a few pages!

Overall a good plot and a decent read, but would have liked a better ending.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin General Uk.

Wow what a fantastic read. This story was brilliant so many twists and I couldn't put it down read in two sittings and it was the best book I have read for a long time. Its begins with a young girl riding her bike and being in a dreadful accident and being left for dead but will anyone ever be bought to justice Its full of drama, corruption and secrets and just when you think everything is out in the open another secret comes to light. I can't recommend this book enough I've read and enjoyed all Jane Corry's books but this one is on another level.

Robbie, famous musician, is arrested for a hit and run two decades earlier that left a woman for dead. Beautiful Janey with a future so bright ahead of her never recovered after sustaining lufe changing injuries and the only way she can tell her story is through song or written word. Is Robbie guilty?

Wow! This book was incredible. Fascinatingly told from a number of perspectives with a complex array of intriguing characters. It gripped me from start to finish as what connected each of the characters to the trial was revealed. A five star read for me. Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the advance copy of this book.

I was blown away by this book. It had everything. An intricate creative plot supported by some amazing characterisations. Powerful relationships continually impacted and challenged the need for honest admissions and painful truths.

I found myself turning pages effortlessly to learn more about the tragic circumstances described so well in the book. This book also gives great insight to the issues of ignoring and coping with strong feelings of guilt about the past. Sadness can be overwhelming but I guess I did know that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read and I am happy to recommend it to others. #IDiedonaTuesday #NetGalley

Another suspenseful read from Jane Corry. A story with two threads and lots of secrets.

Janie has been in a coma for years following a near-fatal accident. Then she starts to come round and remember things about the accident. This could have consequences for rock star Robbie.

Vanessa is grieving for her husband but finds out he kept a terrible secret from her that could have changed her life.

What makes this such a good read is how the characters gradually change and grow and don’t let their problems define them. A book you want to read in one go.

This book is an amazing page turner! In the beginner I was intrigued as to how these seemingly unrelated characters could be connected. I enjoyed watching the story unravel.

Then the story really picked up the pace from the middle onwards with twist after twist, after twist! Then just when you think it'll all over there's more to come! I just couldn't stop reading it!

One of the best books I've read this year, definitely add it to your must read pile.

I loved this book - it's a masterclass in how to take seemingly unrelated threads of a story and weave them together in a way that keeps the reader guessing. The only part which fell a bit flat for me was the financial blackmail - I wasn't convinced Vanessa would have fallen for that so easily - but the rest was absolutely fantastic.

I absolutely loved this book. A really good read. There were a variety of very interesting and unpredictable characters whose lives, on the surface were so diverse as to not be connected, but left tantalising breadcrumb trails to follow. The further you read, the more breadcrumb trails you followed to an very unexpected conclusion. I must admit to burning the midnight oil as I just had to read the next section, and then the next, and the next as I could not put it down.

Such a well written story. Three main characters but plenty of others interwoven and for a while its hard to see how they all connect. I love a story that keeps me thinking and this certainly did. Tragedy, twists galore and not the ending i expected. Simply put a fabulous and very worthwhile read. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

I really enjoyed this book. Told from the viewpoint of several different characters with plenty of twists and turns. It was hard to see at the beginning how all the separate story lines would connect and converge. Strong characters and a very different storyline meant I read the book in a day. Will certainly look forward to reading more books by this author.
