This biography series Football Rising Stars for children brings a figure of determined Mallory Swanson – a football phenomenon.

Mallory Pugh was born in 1998 in Colorado to two athletic parents. As soon as she could walk she was playing sports with her family. Mallory’s older sister Brianna introduced her to football. Brianna didn’t let her younger sister just win. Mallory had to truly do it herself. This competitive environment made her a very strong player.

This biography shows how Mallory’s early experiences shaped her and her focus on the sport. How her talent was recognized, and she was placed with an older team that would challenge her. While competing at national team camp, her fear and doubts came out, but she listened and learned how to compete at the highest level. Her injury taught her that not everything goes to plan. Her talents and leadership earned her position as the captain of the national team. At eighteen, she became the youngest player, for the USA, to be playing at the Olympics. Then, she struggled with decision making between college football or professional football? After reaching the top, she experienced knocks and rejections.

This story of Mallory Swanson is an excellent example for young minds how important focus and perseverance are. Her setbacks show that sometimes you need to take a step back and refocus, but you need to keep going forward. It’s an inspiring story of a strong character who persevered in her career despite obstacles.

This series is listed for reading age 7-9 years. I would say that it’s more appropriate for 9-11 years.

P.S. This book is not listed on Goodreads.
