This was a great start to the Moonlight Magic Club series, it had everything that I was looking for in this type of book. The characters were what I was looking for, they had a great supernatural element and I enjoyed the magical elements. It was everything that I was expecting and it left me wanting to read the next book in this series.

This first installment of Moonlight magic club is the start of what I’m sure will be a series of fun and witchy adventures.

Lockhart paints vibrant pictures with her storytelling and invites us into an exciting world of magic alongside young Scarlet. we need a few other plucky, fun witches along the way, and I’m excited to see what sort of stories they will bring to us later on.
This book is detailed enough to keep you turning the pages, even if you aren’t in the demographic of middle grade student, but simple enough that even those newer to chapter books can enjoy the story for what it is. Along with Lockhart’s narrative, we also get some very well-done illustrations that elevate this story and give a little more meaning to some of the more complicated descriptions

Overall, the Moonlight Magic club seems like a fun adventure but I’m sure to continue to follow.

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this arc!

This was the first book in the Moonlight Magic Club series. At the beginning of the story, eleven year old Scarlett met her new babysitter, Foxglove, and later on, some very unexpected events occurred.

This was a very fun short story that sparked joy for me. I did find it a little bizarre and unpredictable, but it was entertaining and made me smile. I think it would make children smile too.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.

Thank you so much to Arcturus Publishing and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Scarlett’s parents are going out which means her neighbour Foxglove is coming to babysit her, she brings her cat Pirate, Scarlett is instantly suspicious that something magical is going on. When she finds Foxglove’s journal left at her house and a loose piece of paper with a baking recipe on it she bakes the cake but unusual magical things happen.

This was a fun adventure and I know children are going to really enjoy diving into this series, with the lessons on magic, the magical spells, potions lessons, the witch circle of friends that Scarlett joins. The spells going wrong and causing chaos, there is so much that will appeal to readers and they’ll be really hooked into this story and the world right away.

I liked the simplicity of the magic the girls were doing and in the way Scarlett was finding out everything about them. I liked that she was accepted really quickly into the group even though she was a lot younger than them. The illustrations were really great to look at and the cake dragon monster was hilarious to look at, what a strange creation he was.

A quick, easy and very cute read that reminded me of why I love middle grade books so much, they are so simple and yet so magical. The illustrations really enhanced the book too

This was very cute. It reminded me of Sabrina the teenage witch vibes, which I love. The illustrations in this book were so fun and so well-done. I loved the story. I'm an adult and I enjoyed it a lot, and I'm sure children will enjoy it even more, Thank you for letting me read it!

I love chapter books that are filled with humor and magic. This first entry in the Moonlight Magic Club series fits that description. It also has three girls that are friends and one who is new in the neighborhood. Scarlett, the new girl, finds out that the other girls have a secret quite by accident. When Scarlett finds a strange recipe from chocolate cake, she accidentally creates a disaster. It takes all four girls to make things right, but by the time it's over, the girls are ready to ask Scarlett to join the Moonlight Magic Club. Scarlett and the Secret Spellbook by Melody Lockhart is the beginning of a fun new series. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Scarlett lives in Moonlight Valley, she is getting a new babysitter called Foxglove tonight. Scarlett finds Foxglove strange. The next day she finds her book and decides to return it. She is finding it all a bit strange at her house.

This is a lovely book full of magic and imagination. The characters are likable and chapters are short and sweet. The illustrations are very good and shows the younger reader what the story is telling them. My daughter who’s 9 would love this book, it’s an easy read that’s engaging.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
