This book is a heartfelt romance that grabs you from the very first page. With its unique twists and a story that doesn’t follow the usual path, it keeps you hooked until the end. Delphie’s journey is as moving as it is unexpected.
The quirky, lovable characters truly shine, and watching Delphie go from being almost alone to surrounded by love and support is incredibly heartwarming. Her last 10 days are filled with beautiful connections that make the story unforgettable.
If you love romances with depth, charm, and surprises, this one is a must-read. Greenwood has crafted a gem, and I can’t wait to see what she writes next!

Delphie dies chocking on a burger and meets “the one” in the afterlife waiting room. She is given a second chance at life (and love!) if she can just get him to voluntarily kiss her on earth before her ten days are up… with a little help from her grumpy neighbour!
This is a fun and quirky read! The book is full of charm and I felt invested in the story. I especially loved the peripheral characters!
This was a love story to love stories and all the nods to familiar romance tropes, books, authors and movies was fun!
I appreciated that the story wasn’t just about finding “the one” and enjoyed the themes of finding yourself and living your life to the fullest.
A lighthearted book that touches on topics such as grief, loneliness, found family and second chances.
I will definitely be reading more by this author! 3.75 stars rounded to 4!
Thanks to NetGallery and Randomhouse UK for the arc.

I absolutely loved this book. A unique story line that made me laugh and feel slightly emosh at the same time, it completely drew me in to the point where I didn't want the book to end!
While attempting to find the love of her afterlife (or risk losing him forever), this book also brings importance messages about the value of friendship - and how it can often be found in the strangest of places.
Another great title from Kirsty Greenwood!

The Love of My Afterlife is an absolute gem of a book. Funny and poignant with a compelling story and a cast of characters I just adored. Plus the premise is *chef's kiss*!

The Love of My Afterlife is a delightful novel, a romantic comedy with a generous touch of the paranormal.
“‘I’ll give you ten days,’ Merritt says decisively. ‘Ten days?’ ‘Ten days back on earth to find Jonah. If he kisses you then you can stay.’ ‘I can stay alive? Like this never even happened? Like I’d never choked at all?’ ‘Yeah. But he has to kiss you. Of his own free will.’”
When Delphie opens her eyes, she’s puzzled to find herself in a sky blue launderette with the scent of lavender in the air and Bobby McFerrin’s Don’t Worry Be Happy’ playing on repeat. The last thing she remembers is groping for her phone while choking on a microwave burger, and now a perky bespectacled woman is introducing herself as Delphie’s Afterlife Therapist, Merritt. Certain a mistake has been made Delphie flees Merritt’s office only to collide with a beautiful stranger with whom she feels a rare sense of connection. But unlike Delphie, Jonah isn’t actually dead and after just a few minutes of conversation, Merritt banishes him back to earth. Desperate for a second chance at life, Delphie strikes a deal with Merritt. Shenanigans ensue as Delphie, returned to her body, begins the frantic search to find her soulmate by the ten day (literal) deadline, knowing nothing other than he lives somewhere in London and his first name and initial.
This was such a charming read, often funny, sometimes veering into slapstick, and occasionally verging on saccharine, but not without genuine feeling. Greenwood explores themes of loneliness, friendship, community, grief, and love as Delphie, a committed loner prior to her sudden death, finds herself really living for the first time.
Delphie’s quest forces her to connect with acquaintances, strangers, and even enemies, alike. She has pretty good reasons for her curmudgeonly ways so it’s a joy to see her grow. Her rather odd relationship with her mute elderly neighbour Mr Yoon begins to blossom into friendship, as does those with her work colleagues, a lively librarian, and the arrogant playboy from downstairs, Cooper, among others.
I enjoyed the escalating sense of tension as Delphie’s time to find Jonah ran down. Delphie’s Happy-Ever-After twist has a little surprise that I think few would predict in its entirety. Greenwood makes use of just about every popular romance trope in The Love of My Afterlife, yet in such a deliberate way that it’s part of the fun of Delphie’s journey. As a bonus, romance fiction readers should enjoy the author’s several references to popular genre novels sprinkled through the story.
Heartwarming and whimsical, I found The Love of My Afterlife to be a delightful mood-lifting read.

This one was definitely a case of it's me, not you because I really just didn't gel with the character and humour in this. Maybe I'm getting old and cynical but Delphie just a me across as really irritating and obnoxious rather than loveable and quirky. She comes across as very much a 'me, me, me' girl without any redeeming features, and because of that I really didn't care what happened to her and her love life. Or actual life.
And pop culture references. A pet peeve of mine, and constantly referred to throughout. Irritating at best, made me want to close the book and throw it at worst. And the romance lacked the chemistry it needed to carry this story.
I know a lot of people really enjoyed this, so take my very subjective review with a pinch of salt.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read by Kirsty Greenwood!
The entire premise I thought was so fun and original. Some parts had me literally laughing out loud which I totally adore when a book can make me do that.
Unique story line, a fun time, can’t wait to read more by this author!
Thank you Netgalley for the arc!

Romance with a difference.
Delphie has a humdrum existence until she suddenly chokes on a burger and dies. In the afterlife waiting room she sees the most gorgeous man who is unconscious and returns to Earth. Delphie is given a choice. If she can persuade Jonah to kiss her in 10 days, she can stay alive.
And this is the beginning of her new life...
Fab feel good romance.

Absolutely loved this book! Quirky story with a sweet main character. The writing flows well and the story moved along at a decent pace. Definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a nice easy read and a bit of escapism. Thank you #netgalley

Many thanks to Netgalley and Random House for an e-arc of this in return for an honest review.
Delphie, a bit of a recluse, finds herself waking up in the afterlife, there she meets the most beautiful man she has ever met. Unfortunately, he was there by mistake and hasn't actually died and is quickly returned to earth. Luckily Delphie is offered a deal, she has seven days to return to earth and get this mysterious stranger to kiss her - if she succeeds she can have a second chance at life on earth, if not she has to return to the afterlife forever more. Will she be able to find the stranger and get him to kiss her before her time is up?
Overall I feel really mixed about this. It took me a *really* long time to read as I just could not get into it at first - and I'm talking more than a month, when I average about 10-15 books a month that is extreme. To be fair to the book though, I did go on a Disney holiday within that month so wasn't reading as much. I really didn't have any attachment to the mysterious stranger (Meritt), and it took me a while to warm up to Delphie which I think is why I found it hard to get into.
I loved the twist and third act drama though - and I am generally not a fan of third act drama so that is saying a lot, it was not as predictable as I expected which I love from a romance, because they generally are so predictable.
Overall I think it is a cute and nice magical realism romance, but it just missed that spark and chemistry I want from my romance books.

A beautiful book. I meet the amazing author at a book event a few months back and she was so lovely and genuine. I couldn't wait to read her book, and I wasn't disappointed. Thankyou for my arc copy of this book.

4.5 stars
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this lovely book!
I expected a fluffy romance and got a lot more! This book was really wonderful - it made me laugh, and cry (which is rare for me with books!) and like most good books it made me think about how I’m living my own life.
4.5 stars simply because there were a few plot holes that I couldn’t just pass over but overall I great combination of lightheartedness, humour and emotion.

Something about the premise of this piqued my interest. I’m not a huge romance reader but I absolutely loved this! It was well paced, had great characters and I was completely invested in Delphie’s quest to be kissed by her soulmate. The tropes came thick and fast; bring them on I say if they result is such a funny joyful reading experience! I can’t wait to see what Kirsty Greenwood writes next.

I think this was perhaps sold too much as romance book when there is a big sci-fi side too and I feel it’s perhaps lost a bit of audience that way BUT I loved the book. I loved the characters and thought they were all interesting to know about and I thought the length on the book was just right too. Lovely British romance but with a sci-fi look too.

How wonderful to see another new author coming through with such a superb first book? A story full of adventure, romance, tension and magic - my students are going to adore this!

The Love Of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood. Delphie has 10 days to kiss her soul mate otherwise she will stay dead, if she’s kisses hime she lives. I won’t say anymore than that as I don’t want to give anything away! I immediately fell in love with this book, it’s without a me book, there are so many things that make this book great but the writing and the idea that evolves into this story is at the front of what makes it a great read. I’ve not read anything by @kirsty_greenwood before but that will change and can’t wait to see what she writes next. For me at the beginning when you learn that in order to live Delphie has to kiss her soul mate and she only has 10 days to do so, it reminded me of Disneys the Little Mermaid but for adults! This book is instantly funny, it’s a book that will give you the feels of so many emotions throughout its pages. The host of characters is a delight and along with the great writing for me is what makes this book the most enjoyable read. I don’t think there was a character I hated and I loved that they all had there own back story for example you won’t help but to fall in love with Mr Yoon and his relationship with Delphie. However this book is so so much more than just Delphie kissing her soulmate, it’s about her learning to live, learning to embracing everything that life throws at her and even though she’s a fictional character as a reader I felt somewhat honoured, that I got to see Delphie blossom into this amazing character. There really is so much I could say about this book, it’s predictable in parts, as you kind of know who’s going to end of with who but getting there is the exciting part in this books as the author kept me second guessing myself with many twists and turns and surprises around every corner. One author @cathybramley summed this book up when she said ‘every page will bring you joy’ and she was so right! From beginning to end this book was a triumph to read & I will be recommending it over and over again.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Where do I start with this book. I absolutely loved it. In the best way, this was not what I expected. Magical and delightfully charming, it's a story that embraces its weirdness from page one. I enjoyed it so much!
After her sudden death, Delphie unexpectedly finds her soulmate in the afterlife. Guided by her hilarious, exuberant Afterlife Therapist, Merritt, Delphie is granted a chance to return to Earth and find Jonah within ten days. Just a little to get you going. A must buy !

I was lucky enough to receive a physical copy of this book, as well as a netgalley arc!

What a book, absolutely loved it! Hilarious characters, fantastic storyline, great ending. Can't wait to watch the film!
