Toxic is a fantastic read for anyone who likes adventure, real-life situations and a sense of jeopardy. I loved the links to endangered animals and the deforestation of the Amazon. The descriptions were rich and detailed and I could clearly picture the locations in great detail. I know our UKS2 children will devour this and can't wait to buy a copy for our school library.

I was totally gripped by this wonderful story and loved the messages in the book. I couldn't stop reading it and can't wait to get a copy for my year 5 class, who I know will love it too.

This is a great story with many different messages. There are messages about growing old and the inevitability of it, of doing the right thing and of conservation and rainforest protection. I think this story will open up discussions about the rainforest and the animals within. I love how it's about an animal that many children won't know much about. It's not cute and fluffy, so it's not often talked about. I will definitely be buying this for school for use when there is a rainforest unit.

The children are all budding conservationists and love the books written by Mitch Johnson so this was an ideal book for us to read together. The consensus is that we did prefer Spark slightly more, but still a great book.

A tense jungle adventure with strong themes of greed and wildlife/environment conservation. It borders on the Indiana Jones in places and developments and characters are maybe too convenient at times, but otherwise a fast-paced romp with real peril that has wide appeal. This author is consistent in producing good, thought-provoking titles.
