You always want your retirement to be comfortable and fulfilling. As I approach this important change I have taken the opportunity to read this guide.
Updated for the new financial year, and presented with an online directory of useful organisations and contacts, this edition covers the latest guidance on new pension rules, finance, employment (hybrid and flexi-working systems), returning to work and NHS tips on staying healthy.
Some of the information I was already aware of but have found many tidbits that I am now researching with the view to implementing. A useful guide especially as the pension age and pension rules seem to be changing year on year.

The first thing that I want to note about this title is that it is geared toward British readers. For that reason, some of the specifics may not be as useful for those from other countries. However, that said, there are many good things to think about here and with a bit of research, readers can most likely find similar resources in their own countries.

There are a number of chapters that have to do with finances, including budgeting, pensions, tax and more. I like that there other sections that look at options for life as a retiree; for example, there are sections on leisure activities including adult education, the arts, dance, museums and more. There are also chapters on starting a business and even one on looking for paid work or living abroad. In addition, there is a detailed section on health.

This is a book that includes a lot. It is a title that is updated every year. Readers can tackle it by going straight through or by focusing on areas of interest.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

“The Good Retirement Guide 2024” by Jonquil Lowe
This book has a lot of good information for all ages but changes from year to year so it should just give you an idea of what needs to be done for the future unless you plan on retiring very soon. The currency in the book is not dollars so it was a bit confusing to figure out the difference between the numbers for each section so I need to read a book that has the numbers specifically for my region of the world. 3 out of 5 stars.

An annual read in my retirement. Subjects include money and pensions, health and leisure:. A comprehensive and informative guide for all retirees and those about to retire.

This is a really comprehensive guide to retirement planning, which does not just deal with pensions but a host of other material. I will keep it as a reference book that deals with the main aspects of retirement including equity release, which I knew very little about. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me this very useful guide.
