“Never Trust the Husband” by Jessica Payne was a story that kept you guessing until the very end. This book hooks you on the first page and makes you want to keep reading.
Maddy and Benjamin are living what looks like the ideal life. They have a whirlwind romance and get married. Tragedy strikes and one of them moves on with their life. As the past comes into the light, we can truly see just how fractured their lives seem to be.
Highly recommend to all.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Definitely didn't see the twist coming, then again, I can't believe the twist, that someone was willing to pay the price of revenge. Seems kind of twisty for the sake of twisty.

Just stunning! Wow! Brilliant!

Benjamin and Gwyn are engaged to be married but they are being watched. Because Gwyn was Madeline’s best friend and Benjamin was Madeline’s husband. But Madeline is dead, killed just a couple of days after her wedding. So one of them must have done it and Rebecca is determined to find out which one it was.

Rebecca is a brilliantly written character, fascinating and a bit sinister. The story is narrated by her in the present and by Madeline in the past.

This plot is DYNAMITE! The scene is set and then we’re off! A fast-paced and thrilling story that had me actually holding my breath and there were so many gut punching reveals I felt like I’d been on a rollercoaster a few too many times, but I absolutely did not want to get off!

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Jessica Payne and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Ya’ll if you love a twisty, fast paced, psychological thriller then you need this book in your life STAT! What I love about this author is each of her books to date are so individually different. This one is told in two POVs and in alternating timelines. It’s the story of a bride, killed on her honeymoon, and someone who is out to get revenge for her death stalking the husband and her best friend who 3 years later are engaged to get married. Money, murder, secrets, twists - what more could you want in a psych thriller!! I don’t to say anymore because a book like this needs to be read blindly – you will not be disappointed!!

I love Jessica Payne's writing and have read all of her previous books. This book drew me in from the first page, took me on a roller coaster ride and never stopped. Sadly I figured out all of the twists, however this story was so well written and intriguing that I didn’t even mind and loved reading til the end! The alternating POV and timelines made me want to keep reading more.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of this ARC.

Jessica Payne is an auto read author for me, if she writes it I’m going to be first in line to read it. She continued to show me why she has that status.

That prologue! It drew me in to the story right off the bat. Then the dual timeline and dual POV kept me coming back. Now I have a newborn so sleep is precious to me but I couldn’t help myself, I stayed up to get a few more chapters in because I just had to find out what was as going on! Happy to report my sleep sacrifice was rewarded by a twisty tasty ending that I just ate up.

Well I’ve loved all her books I wasn’t sure any would top Make Me Disappear but I think this one just became my new favorite!

Madeline Hughes is twenty seven. A rich trust fund girl with a doting and equally rich father. Meeting and marrying vineyard owner Benjamin North should have been the beginning of a happy future. But three days after the wedding she is dead, having fallen from a cliff into a deep river ravine. The reader knows from the outset that this is no accident. That someone killed Maddie.

Three years on, as a body was never discovered, Benjamin, now engaged to Maddie’s friend Gwyn, is about to have his wife declared officially dead. With Maddie's father now passed away, there is a fortune to inherit. But someone is watching. Rebecca, another friend, is sure it wasn’t an accident and intends to avenge Maddie. Rebecca has changed her name and everything about her appearance in order to be able to investigate Maddie’s death. Written from Madeline and Rebecca’s viewpoint, the story travels between past and present as it builds a picture both of events which took place prior to Maddie's death and Rebecca’s present day search for justice.

This is such a gripping read, I really had difficulty putting it down. The writer has cleverly crafted this story, teasing the reader with clues and new information, which suggests there are others besides Benjamin and Gwyn who had the potential to have carried out this crime. All in all, the author has delivered a first class twister of a story. A definite must read. Highly recommended.

My thanks to Bookouture, the author and Netgalley for an ARC of Never Trust the Husband in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by this author. I have been hearing really good things. I liked the beginning and then the rest of the book I was honestly bored. I didn't like how the story was structured. It felt rather confusing to me and just to much detail. I didn't think it was necessary to have that much detail in the book. I am sad because I thought I would love this book but I don't think it was for me.

This starts with Madeline’s last moments before something happens to her, you are then in the pov of Rebecca who is trying to get justice for Madeline.

There was plot twists everywhere is this book until the very end, it gets you thinking from the very beginning and your trying to work everything out.

Who doesn’t love a good revenge, cat & mouse thriller?! This one was super addictive with so many unbelievable twists that I sure as hell didn’t see coming. I was hooked from page one until literally the very end! So it’s safe to say the writing and plot are superb👌🏼

The characters are all well written and of course are all flawed in their in own way which I think makes for an interesting thriller as the flaws bring depth to the story.

Overall, this was a very gripping novel that had be absorbed from the very beginning and making me wonder who can you really trust 🤔 you’re definitely going to want to pick this up when it hits shelves early next month my thriller friends!

I am a huge fan of Jessica Payne’s books and this one did not disappoint, it was quite the twisty little doozy! You’ve sworn off marriage, but then you meet the perfect guy, you marry him, maybe there were some red flags, but whatevs, and now you are dead. Oopsie. But wait, there’s more! Your BFF is now engaged to him! Umm, what?!

I’m telling you, this was a doozy! I was hooked from the beginning, we flash back to the past when Madeline was alive to present day when someone has decided to follow the new couple and figure out exactly what happened to Madeline. I was questioning everything and everyone the entire time, and THIS is why I love Payne and her books so much!

Suspenseful and a bit anxiety inducing haha, I really enjoyed this one and have one more of her backlist to read. This one is out March 5, and you do NOT want to sleep on this, I definitely recommend it.

Thank you to Thriller Book Lovers Promotions and Bookouture for the ARC to review.

NEVER TRUST THE HUSBAND is a psychological thriller by Jessica Payne. Having read and liked her previous three novels, I was anxious to start this novel.

Her Novels Include:
Make Me Disappear (2022)
The Lucky One (2022)
The Good Doctor (2023)
Never Trust the Husband (2024)

This is my review of Never Trust The Husband.

Madeline Hughes would now be thirty-one and worth $12 million due to her family’s fortune…but she disappeared three years ago, and had recently married Benjamin North, owner of a winery in Seattle. Maddy went missing while backpacking with her husband and friends.

Benjamin, the perfect husband, hid many secrets from Maddy.

Maddy died a few days after their wedding. She died after being pushed off a mountain cliff. She was murdered…and to date the body was never found.

Soon after her death, Benjamin is engaged to Maddy’s best friend, Gwyn. So much for the grieving husband!

The narrative alternates between Madeline (Then) and Rebecca (Now), a voyeur who knew Maddy, and is trying to collect as much information about what happened to Maddy. She works undercover as a travel nurse, and has mixed feelings about what happened to Maddy. She feels her death was no accident and has taken it upon herself to bring those who did wrong to justice.

Every night Rebecca watches Benjamin and Gwyn in their Seattle home.

But will Rebecca be able to discover the truth?

This novel will have you glued to the pages late into the night! Loved it!

Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for my digital copy.

This was an amazing, fast paced thriller. I didn’t want to put it down. Maddy mysteriously went over a cliff just days after her wedding. It was ruled an accident but Rebecca doesn’t think so. She believes someone close to Maddy pushed her. And she’s determined to get revenge. But who is Rebecca? How did she know Maddy?
This would have been an easy 5 star for me but I was paying very close attention to how Rebecca’s thoughts were worded to figure out who she was. I had a couple guesses that should have been disproven by Rebecca’s private thoughts. However, it was my first guess in the end. While I loved that twist, I don’t like that the inner thoughts of Rebecca made that seem impossible. Otherwise, this was an amazing book full of great twists. Thank you to NetGalley for my copy!

I picked this one for the title. It reads like a soap opera. People are assuming new identities and getting cosmetic surgery to be the new person, there was maybe a murder on a honeymoon, A man is marrying his dead wife's best friend, and everyone is rich.
Love that for me.
I love the ending!

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Never Trust The Husband’ written by Jessica Payne in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Four years ago Madeline is back-packing with her new husband Benji and their close friends. She leaves the tent at night to stop at a mountain cliff top and get a special photo when she hears footsteps approaching then feels a hand push her over the cliff. Now, Benji is living with Madeline’s best-friend Gwyn in the house he would have shared with Madeline but someone doesn’t believe it was an accident and is plotting revenge on whoever was responsible by changing her appearance so that she can’t be recognised and watching.

‘Never Trust The Husband’ is told in two timelines by Madeline and the person watching who calls herself Rebecca. I’m disappointed that the story fell flat for me, I didn’t like the characters and was unable to empathise with them. It’s obvious that it appeals to a lot of readers who’ve given it five stars but I’m afraid I’m not one of them and struggled to get into the story. I’ve no doubt it’s well-written and am sorry my comments are so negative but this is purely my own opinion and unfortunately this is one of those books that I couldn’t finish which is a rare occurrence for me.
